But it cures supercancer!

Can your silly donut soda say the same?

The World 1 boss!

It's Clawgrip, with different graphics. I don't know if I should keep the water, though...

Pokey!

Assorted screens from 1-Castle and 2-1.

Some work-in-progress thwomp graphics. Look, he's happy!

I was on Rock Rock Mountain, first place, Mirror mode, and a blue shell dodged me. Yes, you heard that right. It didn't even bother spinning around over my kart, it just kept going forward.

Sometime later in the second lap, it shows up again for real. Booooom.

Definitely the luckiest thing that ever happened to me in this game.

This looks really nice! The plot is hilarious and the overall style of the hack manages to be great without being overwhelming.

Definitely looking forward to this.

Really nice. I just LOVE level 1. Also, the falling spikes in that ice level don't look like icicles at all, something you might want looking a bit.

Now they do!

The thwomps in this level might also get a frozen makeover, but that's something I have to think about first.

EDIT: Hideaway Cove has a new background, drawn by me.

But your real life isn't real either, sort of like the Matrix, and the only way out into the real real world is to jump off a cliff while disemboweling yourself with a spoon.

Depressing.

Well, does it look a bit less empty now? The hills give off the effect that you aren't actually deep underground.

I still need to add some assorted decorations to the walls themselves, which shouldn't be too hard.

EDIT:

New sumo bro graphics. Supposed to be some kind of fire robot, or something.

Also, that's 3-2: Glittering Glacier.

A mountain/grassy hills background with fake HDMA.

I think your friend needs a rest. It should clear his mind in a moderate period of time.

Name one Mario game they weren't in.

Super Mario Bros.

There you go.

Neither pokeys nor munchers were in that either.

lolzucwutididthar

But Pokeys appeared before both of those. Super Mario Bros. 2!

"Track 12"

A port of a song from the obscure game LSD Dream Emulator. There are actually multiple variations of this song amongst the many weird tracks from this weird game, but I chose this one to port because it sounds like music, not squeaky gibberish or nightmarish growling.

It's short, so it's intended for use on the overworld.

Oh, and here's the original song, for comparison purposes.

The main overworld will have two mountains side by side. This is the one on the left, housing the first (beach), second (mountain), third (snow) and last (volcano) worlds.

How is the volcano accessed? Well, you'll find out soon enough.

Not shown: The unfinished second mountain and the large mass of sprites leftover from the old SMW overworld.

It looks good but it's a bit flat. Maybe adding some slopes and elevation to the ground would greatly improve the aesthetic appearance of the area.

And yes, please fix the color of the Yoshi saddles. The level could also benefit from a custom palette.

Hee, those brown ghost things are hilarious.

Level design looks good and challenging from what has been shown, so that's good. Keep up the good work!

Ooh, that looks pretty neat! I like how you've mixed vanilla SMW graphics with the custom ones.

3-3: Crystalline Chamber

A sprawling system of slippery, frozen tunnels. Lakitu makes its first appearance shows up again within these chilly caverns.

3-4: Woods of Connection

This level's name comes from the fact that it links the two halves of the ice submap. The level itself contains two paths. The top path is a bog-standard snowy forest, while the lower path is...

...a flooded underground forest full of ghosts.

@Wormer21: Yeah, I realized that. So I edited it a bit to make it less bland, and also modified the terrain slightly.

More screenshots!

The title screen, complete with a WIP level!

The upper route of 3-4. Contains moving platforms and fireball-able ice blocks.

A side note: both routes contain five Dragon Coins, ensuring that you can get them all no matter which route you choose. You can't go to one route from the other, preventing you from getting over 5.
