Crystal Islands: On one hand, I can appreciate the extent you went to to make the level's aesthetics. I can only take a guess at how much time it must have taken to work with that tileset. I also appreciate the layout of the level itself, it feels very Mario-like and very authentic. All except for one bit. The gimmicky chainsaw elevator. I understand the concept behind it, but taking damage causes Mario and the platform to freeze while the chainsaw to keep on moving and messes up the chainsaw's pattern, resulting in you taking damage from the giant fireballs overhead because of the slight timing error caused there. And even if it worked perfectly, I have to say that it just wasn't that fun. It didn't add anything whatsoever to the level, and just felt like a last minute gimmicky add-on. I think skipping the chainsaw segment and warping the player to the spot where the chainsaw part warps to would be better.

From what you described, it appears you played the oldest version. The newest version in the post before yours has a completely overhauled elevator without giant fireballs.

the Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity.

For those who don't know what that is, it's some silly easter-egg-esque thing on that weird virtual pet site Neopets, and I found a real one laying in the grass back when McDonalds was putting Neopets toys in their happy meals.

Nothing particularly interesting happened whenever I did things with it.

"I am a heron! I have a long neck and I pick fish out of the water with my beak. If you don't post this on ten other pages, I will fly into your kitchen and make a mess of your pots and pans!" -a heron

Well, what are you waiting for? Your pots and pans are at stake here, people!

This is something I made back in January. I kinda lost the motivation to finish it, so here are four screenshots.

The thing I was showing off wasn't the tileset (which I didn't make, by the way). Just some random screenshots of a hack I never finished.

I did make the player and goomba graphics, though, so there's that.

Hey look, it's some vanilla mountains, and they're pink, and there are not-so-vanilla rocks in the ground! Shock and terror!

Ignore the rope platform, the graphics for that will be changed to less cutoff-y ones.

The horrifying title screen for Super Boy 3, complete with Demonic Mario Recolor and Fancy Koopa.

Sticker Star had me worried that this game would follow the trend of "NEW SUPER MARIO BROS THINGS ONLY, ALSO HERE'S A BUNCH OF CONTINUITY NODS FOR DA TROO FANS AND NO PLOT" but from what has been shown, it seems that it's not the case.

It looks like a pretty neat game so far.

So here's a piece of another level I'm making. It's from the same hack as my last level preview (the pink mountains one). Still haven't changed the rope graphics, but look! The goombas are lemons! The bushes are cotton candy! Trees!

Yet another level.

This time, it's a sunset forest with multicolored plants and a baby Yoshi/turnip thing.

...I should really make a thread for this hack.

Someone who leaves floating munchers all over the nice, clean carpet. I hate when people do that.

Do you have any candy-bar-bag-carrying bags? If so, I'll take twenty.

Small piece of a swamp-themed level with some custom trees. Ignore the bit at the bottom.

e: if you're wondering why this is sticked, read this.

"Every year or so, a muncher will be chosen to become a legendary Floating Muncher, a divine creature that watches over all the other munchers to ensure that they do not damage a hack's quality by stacking onto each other. However, one does not just ascend to the Highest Muncher Council just like that. That would be too easy, so the lucky muncher must prove its skill, bravery and munchiness by venturing to a far-off land many miles away from the spawning pits that it was born in.

You play as Munchy the Muncher (how original), who is the next to go to this mysterious land. The journey will be difficult, and few have ever made it alive, but this time, it will be different...yes?

Rainbow text...off."

Munchy's Big Day is a hack that I'm making. You can tell because it says my username on the title screen.

The terrible, unfinished title screen.

Anyways, this hack mixes vanilla and chocolate graphics together into one strange choconilla mess. It won't be anything too special, just an ordinary SMW hack that happens to star a muncher.

HUD is unchanged for now. It should refer to our chompy companion, not Mario. Also note the lemon Goombas. We'll call these guys "lemans" because puns are funny.

Sometimes, Munchy will come across this vegetable...dinosaur...thing named "Veggiesaur". Again, very original.

Other assorted screenshots. The swamps need a large filler decoration for the ground and the castle is just unfinished, and full of boiling brownish goop which is totally not made of people nope not at all

The player graphics aren't complete and will be modified to make them less bad and more good.

Stay tuned for more updates as time goes on.

(All instances of munchers as a hazard have been replaced with spooky spikes. Ooooo!)

Slightly updated graphics for Munchy. His/her/whatever head is now colored instead of pure black to show the difference between the big and fire forms. You can also see the Happy Fertilizer (mushroom) and Spicy Herb (fire flower) powerups.

Also, a better version of the title screen. Still unfinished, but at least it's not as bad as the old one.

Oooo, this looks neat! Really, really neat! It also looks cool. And amazing. And a whole bunch of other adjectives.

I like that purple cannonball bro. Or are those purple bubbles?

Some kind of green cave place with trees and stuff. Background is a placeholder until I think of something better. It even has some of those fancy "ground tiles within ground tiles"!

I'm fond of the last palette and the haunted palette. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the feedback.

Don't worry about that weird area in the final room of Crystal Islands; it's scrapped content from the old version of the level.

I didn't even know that you could do a vine-carrying glitch in SMBX. Huh. It doesn't really break the level that much though, since it already supplies you with a billy gun after each climbing spot.

That overworld is decent, but I can see several perspective errors, specifically where the walls meet the water. Try fixing those and it will look much better.
