Oh God, that moon looks so lovely, I really wish I had this back when I used to hack. It would have been such an awesome thing to use.

4 leaf clovers on the coins? Pretty cool. Coins are a bit too shiny, though, and they become hard to see in backgrounds with bright colors, like in the screenshot you've given. It took me a good 6 seconds to figure out where the coin was, but that's probably just me.

Great work nonetheless!

Only issue i have is, that my stupid virus scan, doesn´t want me to download your MP3s from dropbox :<

Would you mind, inserting them in a ZIP-Folder and upload them to your filebin, so i can listen to your current compositions, too? Would be really neat :>

No worries, here you go.

Italian Waters

Oh.. Oh god. I'm terribly sorry for the weird transitions and stuff, I had no idea what I was doing at that time. I got the idea of composing this after playing a bit of Dire Dire Docks in SM64 and wished it would have the original underwater music from SMB. Took me around 4 hours to make, and it still feels quite... lacking to me somehow.

I should remake this sometime, so it doesn't sound like utter garbage in the transitions :V

Now all we need is a hack that intentionally misspells "Desert" in the World 1 ending sequence. Something like "Onto World 2: The Great Dessert!" just to mess with people.

VERY good job on this though, I love the licorice ropes most of all.

Well hey, it doesn't seem like you put any effort into commenting on the work of the people below you, either.

It's tough to get little to no attention (which is why the ropebox spotlight exclusively shows off threads that garner little of it but deserve much more), but the forum is a list so there's bound to be threads at the bottom.
I'd have to agree that people are extremely stingy about commenting on other's threads this C3 though. Like, people can spam the art request threads to hell and back (I don't blame them, free art is neat), but then only a tenth of these people actually take the 5 minutes to check out a trailer or comment on some screenshots.

After counting, I made 16 posts since C3 started. Not counting shitposts and my own thread posts, I did try to bump over 8 individualthreads.

Of course, 10 comments isn't that large, but I've been fairly busy with IRL stuff, which didn't give me much time to be any more active than I was. I also tried giving as much possible feedback as I could.

Hangman's Madrigal strikes me the most out of all of these. It just feels like it's an untold story, which is one of the biggest "clenches at the heart", so to speak, but it's the same reason that it became an instant favorite of mine. I really can't completely describe how it makes me feel.

I'd really love it if you could make a story, even if short, around that.

Shree, there are reasons why I've stopped showing off content all together, save for certain things here and there. Like everybody said, unless you have a big ass name, your work is going to be left in the dust of the forgotten wind.

The truth needs to be told that most likely more than 50% of the people who frequent this site are not into SMW Hacking (or it's content) and are more here for the community than anything else. Trust me when I say there's a lot of people here who feel your pain.

Thing is, there's no real way to fix that. You can't force people to give criticism, and the whole concept of a "convention" is for letting people check out what they like.

There's no one singular person or group of persons to blame, really.

8/10

Always a fan of simplistic colors and designs, nothing too distracting. Side image matches the color scheme pretty neatly too!

Just an update:

After a bit of conversation with the folks I was writing these tutorials for, they want me to continue writing on more advanced topics. That means I'll be pushing them up here too.

I'll be dealing with Particle Systems, Android deployment, lighting, and so on. Keep a look out.

I'm really glad you're finding it useful! I'll definitely be sure to update as soon as I roll out chapters!

Following my showoffs on C3, I decided to make a more permanent thread, since I still compose frequently.

Here are the ones from C3 in case you missed out:

As some of you may know, I compose music, ranging from chiptunes to orchestral. (Well, sort of.)

For those of you who don't know, I compose music, ranging from chiptunes to orchestral.

Here's some stuff I've composed till date. I'm a (very) lazy composer, so don't be surprised if you see or hear a lot of work to be WIP.

Factorized

One of my first ever compositions, I made this out of, mostly, boredom while I was in high school. I tried to go for a classic Megaman feel, what with all the "wavey" squares and rhythm.

New Beginnings (You might need to crank up the volume a tiny bit, apologies.)

I composed this keeping in mind the phrase "Starting something new". It took me quite a few days to get the chords right so they didn't interfere with each other, and I'm quite proud of the result. (I intended to use this song in an RPG I was making, which started in the morning. Hence the birds chirping and all.)

Goldwood Forest

I wanted this tune to feel like, well, "home". Of course, the guitar sounds anything but natural, but I had to use artificial ones in FL Studio, not a real recording. (Believe me, I would have given anything for a real recording of this.) Either way, I'm very fond of how this one turned out, since a few people I showed indeed did say it sounded like "home".

Rosemary Rag (WIP)

No, I'm not a Scott Joplin fan. Why do you ask? I've been incredibly fond of ragtime music for a long time now, although composing it seemed to be one of the hardest things to do. I managed to come up with this and I really like the melody. (And yes, I added a tiny bit of white noise and a radio filter over the song, just to make it sound like an old recording.)

Forest of Hope

Close your eyes and imagine this: A forest, with a canopy so dense that it blocks nearly all sunlight, making the insides of the forest VERY dark. The only way to navigate this forest is with the help of magic lamps and fireflies scattered across the mazelike paths that go through it. This is what I kept in mind while making this, and its one of my latest compositions. VERY proud of this one, since I played it on my real keyboard (the chord part, atleast) before recreating it on the computer.

Dem Blocks

I... I have no idea what this is, really. The project notes in FL Studio say "tetris theme xd" and it looks like the project was started at 3:38 AM in the morning. So... uh... there you go?

So that's about it for now, Of course, I'm not the best composer there is, and I've a lot to learn, but I'm pretty proud of what I've done so far.

I'll keep this thread updated as much as I can.

This looks very interesting! Is it a hack or a standalone game that you're planning?

Echoes of the Woods (WIP)

The main melody of this song has actually been the subject of a LOT of experimenting and tone changing. This piece was originally written in A minor, but was shifted to B because...

I'm actually not sure why I did that.

Not sure if it's the GIF or the game, but every element seems to have a blue box surrounding it. It's a bit easy to spot once you notice it.

Another thing I noticed is Yan's idle animation has an unnatural frame (more specifically, the one where his arms are swung the most to the front), where his eyes appear closed.

Other than that, great job! Definitely keeping an eye on this.
