Just look around for a copy of XP. However.. i heard that they are hard to get... i hate the fact that Lunar Magic wont run on Linux(Via Wine) and my friend cant get Lunar Magic running on his Vista PC( Correct me if you can do LM on Vista, as i havent tried it yet.). Even if you can get a decent SNES Emulator running on your OS you might need XP to do any actual hacking(that is why you are on this site, right?).


Good luck getting anything done on Microsoft's crappy new OS, and dont think I will ever switch to that crud. I would give you a copy of XP but for Obvious reasons i cant.

The hack does need quite a lot of work before anything else can be said about it. I guess it kinda does sound like a joke hack with a Suicide Cliff and the "Glitched Pile Of Crap" text... It DOES need graphics first thing, I am doing that right now.



Well, im working on a hack...

CURRENT STATUS
5 mostly finished Kaizo meets Demo World style levels, plus a dummy level called Suicide Cliff, entering that level will kill you.
There are a few more unfinished ones, and a bonus room.
The hack has custom blocks and custom sprites as well as a custom status bar. SMB3 music and Raccooon mario patches are implemented. There are also some minor GFX edits (P Switch now says POW, and Changed the Nintendo Presents logo) and a redone title screen( not stage). Probably no one is impressed yet here on smwcentral but my friends are.

FUTURE
The goal for first released version is 20 levels, eventually the whole game.
More Blocks, Sprites and Graphics WILL be added
The Intro Level WILL BE REDONE.

NOTICE
Expect heavy savestate usage requirements - these are KAIZO STYLE LEVELS!
Dont ask for screenshots or IPS files I will do them when i am ready.
I will take NO SUGGESTIONS.

PS.. It's difficult to make screenshots for this kind of romhack; you die before you have time to hit the screenshot button, and I also don't want to reveal the traps in these levels. also don't expect these levels to be quite as hard as Kaizo World's

And thats's why I havent posted the IPS Yet! It's not a joke hack, and it's not going to be a joke hack. The GFX are not final, They WILL BE Changed! When I say the first couple of levels are finished, I mean the design, but not the GFX. Basically, forget it for now. I wanted the first priority to be difficulty, not aesthetics.

I will change the GFX and update the screenshots. Don't worry, I do not intend to release it like this.

The reason I can't pause it is because I have a Sh** controller (has no good place for a good pause button) and cannot afford to get a new one.

But you havent even SEEN my level design! I do admit the screenshots were in crappy places, but I didnt want to ruin the final game by spoiling the traps.

Also, I wasn't posting this to say that the hack is ready for download, nor anywhere near it. I was posting that I am working on a rom hack. Please no more posts on this thread, I will wait until my romhack is ready before I post any more about it.

Yes, im new to SMW Central but I am not a n00b when it comes to computers or rom hacking, I just did not know the standards for posting information on rom hacks on this site. All I have seen about rom hacking before joining SMWCentral were those ProtonJonSa Videos, and in computers in general I belong to the world of open source development, where you post whatever you have regardless of quality, so that people can build upon it or use the code... but that simply does not fit in with rom haxin, for obvious reasons. I hope everyone here can please drop the insults, as it is too early for this bullshit, and you wont be hearing about my romhack from me for a while.

More Levels! I'm going to try to make the romhack more Kaizo like, ex: More traps! Don't worry, its not going to be THAT hard(no invisible coin block traps every jump, etc)

Sorry, I should have clarified this a little more. I posted screenshots for an unfinished hack and got flamed for it, because the hack looks ugly. This post lists the things I have to do before I can re-post the screenshots, and maybe, just mabye, an IPS file. This thread was to clear up the thread "SMW Bowser's Revenge - Work In Progress" by saying that I was sorry that I posted info on my hack TOO EARLY, and that my screenshots were CRAPPY, and that my hack is NOT READY for any discussion of any kind. The screenshots that I posted a while ago I deleted, and removed from that thread.

Im sorry, but you really do not want to play my hack in it's current awful state. Just wait until I can improve the looks of my hack to meet SMW Central's standards, THEN I will release some much better screenshots than the ones I posted in the "SMW Bowser's Revenge - Work In Progress" thread (which I deleted with shame).

If someone was willing to do this, it would be possible to make a custom SPRITE that acts like one of those "invisible solid blocks", of course this would limit the number of these you could cluster together, could interfere with other sprites, and would be limited by the sprite memory settings in that level. basically, I would either follow FPI's hex hack or file this one in the Trash Bin.

I prefer my joypads, now I have them configured right, but I have issues switching from the joypad I have at home to the one I have at school, etc

I can use a keyboard if I have no joypads availible, but mark me down on joypads.

Hey sonicmike, I want that song (SMB2 Overworld) too! I got it to "compile" with tinymm, so I am going to do it for the both of us as my first music port. Finally at the shrinking stage (its 9KB with lots of loopable areas). I doubt that SNN will finish it before I do... (do not worry I will test it before I post it...)

Awww Crap. It just loops crap all over the place... Ill ask for help in the music help thread.

Or, which is more likely to happen, SMW will be so easy to hack that nobody feels like doing it any more. We'll probably hack Super Mario Galaxy and have a Wii emulator (if that isn't already possible - I have no idea), or a game that has not been released yet.

WTF? A tip from the guy who posted screenshots of a completely ugly (and I will quote myself) "glitched pile of crap"?

No really, I'm trying to learn from my mistakes.

If you MUST have kaizo style levels (they arent popular around here), put them in a "special world" and make the player beat the game or go through a mess of secret/ hidden levels to get to them. (like in the original game!)

Also, an optional difficult level that leads to a bonus level may also be a good idea.

Does anyone remember the whistle in Desert Land in SMB3? try tinkering the overworld events to achieve (something like) that...

Why does everyone HAVE to suggest proprietary software? The free and open source GIMP supports both transparent and animated GIF files, and I think the GIMP is better than Photoshop!
