paper mario ttyd is chock-full of annoying backtracking and sort of low on challenge but for whatever reason I adore the battle system and the story is just fantastic. I also have a bit of a stomach for repetition so it's really fun

early mega man is dumb trial-and-error platforming but the aesthetic is so cool and unique. need to pick up 5 again at some point

jet set radio has shit controls but it's honestly really fun to play, short, dumb story, awful final boss, and annoying af enemy design. such a fantastic experience
Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun
needed something slightly more ambient to listen to while doing a load of calc hw. interesting to hear how the prepared guitar plays out against the rough timbre of the bass. I'm not sure how much I like calling this one post-rock but if you're into that kind of thing it's superb, if anything it's a good newcomer album
Bitch Magnet - Umber
they were tied into that whole scene related to slint and gastr del sol and bastro and a few others, umber is more standard post-hardcore/proto-math rock though their later ben hur would work with the darker, sparser stylings that hoover would mine in later years
Iceage - You're Nothing

I remember listening to this shortly after it came out and not thinking much of it for w/e reason, it's a pretty sick little noise punk, like a sloppier, more exciting Protomartyr
also listened to The Durutti Column - The Return of the Durutti Column, Elvis Costello - My Aim is True, and GBV - Bee Thousand today. TRotDC is not anything like I expected it, light guitar soundscapes over sparse drum machines, a little jazzy and very soothing with some cool builds, early post-rock I guess. MAiT is pretty fun, not much other than that though, some good songwriting basically. Bee Thousand is a stone-cold classic, I was listening to it over again just because I'm a big fan and I hadn't touched it in quite a while
I was playing on Mayo, and from my perspective it was mostly blowouts for w/e reason (level 17 Aerospray player). I can't think of a single time I played on Shifty Station and Mayo didn't get destroyed, though on the rest of the stages it was pretty much a coin flip on who won for whatever reason.

I've been having connection issues maybe once every other time I play? It's annoying but not awful thankfully.
