So yeah, I decided to test out the object sequences just to see what they all were, and to tell you guys what they are.

Note: this was tested with a Goomba. Results may vary depending on the enemy.

0 - Runs away, then comes back facing backwards, and uses Gunk Ball and glitches up the game. This one's quite weird...
1 - Nothing, I believe.
2 - Enemy pauses for a second or two. Good for making delays in battlescripts.
3 - The enemy's current death animation, as determined by its sprite behaviour.
4 - Does enemy's recoil animation 3 times.
5 - Same as 1?
6 - Does enemy's recoil animation once.
7 - Water spout sprite appears above the enemy. I think this one was used by Belome when he clones a character.
8 - Boomer turns red
9 - Boomer turns blue

And I believe the rest of them are nothing. Please tell me if any of you guys find anything new within sequences 10-255.

Hope this helps!!

I don't even know what I'm actually doing anymore... will I ever finish a hack?
Happy New Year everyone!

(Yes, I realize this is a huge bump. But there's new progress so it should be okay! #tb{:)})

This is Mt. Muffins 5. I'm skipping some levels here because this is actually the title screen demo level!

Yikes! There's Bob-ombs, Bullet Bills, Piranha Plants, Koopas and more!

Stuff part-way buried underground is one of the types of decoration in this level.

It's quite scary to jump in the line of fire here!

Underground secret where you have to climb vines to collect things.

Be careful after the midpoint, because Para-Bombs and Para-Goombas will fall from the sky!

Whoa! Even Mario looks surprised! This is right at the end.

The title screen, now that I've made the level for it.

EDIT: I'm still surprised that no-one has given feedback on the overworld. Is it bad? Good? Awesome? I won't know if you don't tell me!

Why aren't you proud of that? I love it and it looks like it took a while to make.

Excited to see these "neat ideas for sky world gimmicks"!

Is there something hardcoded in the ROM of SMRPG that when you're in level 68, you're *always* on 2 blocks?

I've deleted all events, mods, sprite, but when I preview, once I move, Mario is automatically placed on a y level of 2...

Any help solving this annoyance is appreciated.#tb{:]}

I'm late and I don't know if you figured this out already, but have you tried changing the event that automatically starts when the level opens? (It's to the left of the music)

I'd really like to test this too, since I was planning on doing an LP of the original SMB5R anyway.

Good news: all monsters have been finished (other than a few finishing touches I may make along the way). Now to finish all of the dialogues, levels and event scripts!

I'll start putting up new videos of the bosses once I fix this stupid bug where Waluigi often starts using Mario's palette during battle (the fact that he uses Mario's sprite may be the problem), anyone have a fix for it?

--------------------
I don't even know what I'm actually doing anymore... will I ever finish a hack?
I'm replacing Toadstool with Waluigi, not Mallow. Tried to do something similar and it didn't work. Also, the items animation is messed up.

OMFG I FIXED IT!!!

But seriously, that's a bug I was trying to find out how to fix for a long time. As for the changing the image/animation part, I got that right before. Though, when you said 0022, I think you meant 0010,
when you said 0010 you meant 0011 and when you said 0011 you meant 0012.

As for the items animation part, thanks. That worked well.

I also found my own way to prevent the palette from changing: change the palette set to +1 of Mario so that Waluigi's palette is 0, and Mario's palette is 0 too. It worked well.

So yeah, glitch fixed. (Finally!)

Question: Are we allowed to do any tileset mixing (I want to combine Cave and Castle) in our levels?

Hey Yakibomb, that's a really awesome Pokey sprite you made! Can I use it in a hack (I'll credit you, don't worry) because it would be a cool enemy to have and I'm a terrible artist myself. I'd also like to know what enemy it pastes over because that's important too.

It's fine if you don't want to though.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but when you open the dialogues, the battle dialogues and the flower messages ("Lucky!","Once Again!" etc.) open up at the same time. There are 255 battle dialogues and only 5 or 6 flower messages. So if you go over 5 or 6 (I'm not remembering it exactly right now), well, you can guess what that means, right?

ERROR

So yeah, not a problem at all in terms of the ROM, but it's just a little bit annoying.

This is a good submap, however the area in the red circle looks a little strange.

On a more positive note, the new level looks fun and I'm happy to see this back. I like the idea of the rock-throwing Montys. #tb{:D}

Other than that, it looks good. It looks simple and enjoyable.

I see your point, although it'll mess up the switch palace blocks (they're purple too).

And to everyone saying to darken the palette of the passable wall, once again, it'll mess up other stuff (primarily the background).

Well, that's most of the questions answered. Now for a new level!

Biscuit Bridge. The level starts out with this dangerous rope dodging section. Since this is meant to be an expansion to SMW, difficulty won't be too much of a problem (and this is a secret level anyways).

AAH! Jumps are common in this first section.

Now for a mini ON/OFF line guide maze with falling Fuzzies. Hit the right switches! Bonus area for anyone who can reach the pipe up there.

Don't touch Fuzzy, just jump on the platforms.

Once you pass the midpoint, things get slightly hectic with more falling Fuzzies and Paratroopas added into the mix.

And to finish off, some more dodging. This level really uses a lot of features of line guides, doesn't it?

I WIN!!

I'll give you three guesses as to where in the level this is.

(It's likely that I'll increase the time limit, but I'm not sure yet)

I know this is a bump, but I just wanted to address a problem:

In Misfortune 8, the darkness covers up the status bar which I think you should be able to see at all times. My opinion, but still.

Also, when is this going to be finished? I saw that you posted a beta on the Hacks section, but what about the full version?

I don't even know what I'm actually doing anymore... will I ever finish a hack?
Can someone tell me how Willy Wisp's animation works? I looked in its script and it didn't say anything about running the effect... it sucks, I really want to do something with it!

Another thing: How do you make certain enemies' sprites work together without glitching out? I have in a battle:

Cloaker sprite
Ninja sprite
Jester sprite
Fireball sprite

...and the graphics work fine, but Fireball's palette just messes up. The palette seems to depend on if you're attacking it, something else is dying, or it's attacking.

It sounds like you have too many sprites on the enemy side cause if there's too many or too much sprites the game wont recognize it and wont assemble it correctly.

So can I fix this in any way other than changing the fight around? Or am I just screwed?

as for the willy wisp it's not a effect but a series of sprites with a effect.

Hmm, I really don't understand exactly what you mean...

--------------------
I don't even know what I'm actually doing anymore... will I ever finish a hack?
That's actually exactly what I'm doing. The Cloaker and Ninja come first, then when you kill them both, the Jester and Fireball come along. (They're not actually called that in my game, I just put the actual names of the sprites for convenience) For some reason, I think the game still renders sprites in battle even if they die or are removed in any other way.

Then for Willy Wisp, I knew that but I don't see anything that would make the tube actually show up in the battle, I don't see a "New effect" in there. What makes the script do that? The only reason I ask is because I want to change the effect there.

Just realized, why are there two COOKIE CAVERN 6s? Was it just a typo? Especially since the world map looks like it has only 6 normal levels.

Wait, wha...? I can't believe this, umm...

WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT!

Oh. My. Gosh. That's amazing. You are a boss for doing that. Once this is done and fully-functional, I need this. :D

I don't even know what I'm actually doing anymore... will I ever finish a hack?
Dang, my internet went out while I was posting this, so I have to type it again.

Anyway, these submaps look good. However, there are still a few cutoffs, as pictured by the lovely red circles.

All of them are missing corner tiles and I think most of them can be fixed. These are small, but they can make a difference.

Likin' the lava on Bowser's map.

Now for levels. I'm assuming you made the forest under the mountains on Jelly Jungle 2 with custom graphics, because I don't know how you'd get the palettes to work otherwise. Jelly Jungle 3 seems to be fun to play by the video.

You're doing great, so keep going!
