Tip: When you're about to release your hack, make a patch first, patch it to a clean ROM, and then test that. This way, you are testing both the hack AND the patch. Not logged in.

I figured I would ask this question anyway. is there anyway possible to add more switches aside from the standard yellow green blue and red switches like for example, a purple switch or something like that? Because I saw a patch on here to add items into red and blue switch boxes, and I am coming up with a hack that would have extra power ups to the ones that already exist. and I would like to be able to put those powers into boxes

thanks for the help! That was fast, I have to get into learning how to do ASM but hey that is a goal to reach for#w{=)} thanks again, I think I'm going to like this!

Yeah that's not what I'm looking for, I do want them to act like they do in the switch palaces, I mean I saw a video of a hack Rob=Omb's adventure, where they switched out the yellow switch for Orange, but I want switches and switch palaces in addition to the ones already there, and it sounds possible it just requires some skills I've yet to learn, but I'm going to get myself familiar with ASM,because this is something I've wanted to get into since I saw and played TSRPR, which is actually what inspired me to make this hack I'm thinking of which I would like to discuss in a different thread, if anyone is interested. but I am thankful for any support this far. I'm really pleasantly surprised by the help I've gotten already! thanks again everybody.

I like the custom sprites, Mario especially! that would actually be a Mario sprite I would like to use in a hack of my own. if you ever release the file(s) or if you already have I think they're great.

At the risk of asking a question that may have been repeated before, because I just can't seem to find the solution to my problem. Where exactly can I get the Mario player graphic from Super Mario World Redrawn? Because all I was able to find was Raccoon Mario Redrawn and Luigi Redrawn. I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something like that the Mario Redrawn graphic is in with Raccoon Mario Redrawn, thank you!

I just started to play this hack, and for some reason I am having a hard time getting it to work properly. the map screen fades in and out on its own,it has garbage and noise in the graphics during cutscenes, and I'm not sure if it is the emulator I'm using or the fact that I patched it with lunarIPS. on top of that, I can't play it on ZSNES because it won't work with my voice recognition software, which as a disabled gamer I need to do functions such as gathering speed and firing fireballs etc.
I think I'll cover that more on a separate thread as it is something that doesn't fit with hacking in general, any thoughts as to what solution there is?

I'm wondering if running Zsnes on a virtual machine on my computer would bypass the fact that I can't use the programs I use for accessibility would be able to be recognized. As it stands ZSNES isn't agreeable to on-screen keyboard input Logitech setpoint and voice recognition software, the three main components of my gaming experience. if only there was a version of ZSNES that could accept voice-recognition and what I have to use as my B button which is mapped to a button on my mouse. Snes9x has that flexibility but lacks in reliability and with Zsnes just the opposite is true, it's a superior emulator in every way but as far as accessibility options are concerned it's a no go. I guess it's time to do some figuring out on this one, if only I knew where to start, why isn't there a build of ZSNes that incorporates Windows GUI.... hmmm.

I'm looking for one as we speak, no luck yet... it's hard to imagine that it doesn't exist, I mean Joy2Key does so why not the other way around? or is there something I just haven't found yet? and I found that that isn't the problem after all. it's my voice recognition program that doesn't get recognized nor the program I use to convert one of my mouse buttons into a keyboard keystroke, two of the main things I use to play SMW. VAC 3.1.1 is the name of the program, now that I remember I think they mentioned on their website that their program doesn't work right with ZSnes. I guess for now I will deal with sound issues as they come, and stick with Snes9x, that will limit me quite a bit but I don't really have a choice. #smw{-_-;}

I post here today, not only as a gamer, a Mario fan,a technology enthusiast and everything else in between, give or take. I consider myself an advocate of the disabled community of gamers. I just think that adaptive technology and gaming go hand-in-hand, you may or may not be surprised at how large of a community disabled gamers actually are, at least enough that there are third-party developers out there coming out with devices to remedy what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, don't take the time to consider nowadays as what is more important. To be perfectly honest, they're more concerned about profits instead of the vast differences in audiences they have, it seems like it's profits not people. luckily there are innovative minds out there developing devices and add-ons that make gaming available to all. one company that has no solutions for disabled gaming, or very little anyway is Nintendo, unfortunately some of these innovations will not interface with the Wii or Wii U. this is why the disabled community is going to extreme measures, well at least in Nintendo's eyes, with emulation, the disabled community can do so much more to enjoy their favorite Nintendo franchises, and true Nintendo fans like myself know exactly where I'm coming from, I would gladly pay $300 or more on a console if it were adaptable for me, and I'd probably still buy a Nintendo Wii U got so I don't feel like I'm ripping off a company name I grew up with I would own the physical devices and software and still use an emulator so as to be able to adapt my gaming experience. I talk about this every chance I get, just getting the public aware, because the world of gaming, there shouldn't be anybody left out.

I have this idea, it's basically like the laser suit but you activate the flying sequence as you would with the Cape normally,it would be like Supermans suit and you could basically shoot a beam from Mario's eyes much like Superman's heat vision, I'm unsure if I should have an ice breath component in there as well, I have no idea how to code at all, this is just something I wanted in a hack I am developing,I don't want to give away any spoilers of my storyline anymore than I have, which is not much, I just know that a Superman inspired power up would definitely honor both Mario and Superman, also would be pretty cool to have. I'm not sure how you would go about it. But like I said before this is just an idea floating around my head, I only need assistance with the development of the power-up itself, I think I would be able to manage graphics/sprites etc. I just want to know if it's possible.

On the topic of disabled gamers, well, sure, make it accessible. The problem is I've never met any disabled gamers, so I don't know any common problems.

I'm perfectly able but some issues/problems come up with slow reflects, not able to use one or both arms/hands, being blind or deft and many, many other situations.
I have known a few disabled gamers but in ways that just made certain gaming hard, ie; playing console over PC cause they couldn't use a mouse due to restrictive hand movement.

But here's an article I saw a couple years ago and thought I'd dig it back up.
Clicky

I used to not have any problem console gaming, but as my disability progressed and will continue to progress, I have to always adapt at the moment I'm playing super Mario world with my voice an on-screen keyboard and my mouse, I'm actually pretty amazed at how well it works, the downside is it only works with SNES9x, but you make do. the day will come when brain machine interfacing will become standard, as well as an option.

I just need to be pointed in the right direction, this is a question involving the patch that gives a sound effect to climbing, I installed it but I had no idea how to apply the sound effect that came with it, and if I add the new sound effect will it change the other in game sounds?

ZSNES doesn't recognize my voice recognition software or the other programs I use to control, I tried BSNES and I wasn't able to get it to work. so I'm kind of stuck w/SNES9x which works for the most part, issues here and there but nothing that isn't manageable.

You can apply it with Addmusic. Paste the sound effect (SFX for short) TXT file on the misc folder (correct me if I'm wrong), open SoundEffects.ini and type its name (don't forget the .txt in the end) in a slot. You do the normal process for insterting, except you'll have to type the -se in the end of the CMD command like you do when first using Addmusic in a ROM. And done, it's insterted!

I assume there's a place you can put the slot of the SFX you're going to use as vine climbing SFX in the patch.

Don't worry, it won't affect the original SFXs either.

thank you for the help I appreciate it!
