No offense, but this looks like a lot of hacks made before 2006. You're missing a lot of aesthetic variety & fidelity from what I can tell, one of the key features in a lot of hacks (in my opinion).
and for crying out loud change that name, there's a fangame named Super Mario Bros X. already
i still have some hopes though, just learn the do's and do-not's in rom hacking (like the overworld and the brick spam)
I suggest you add OW level paths and give the island a unique shape, along with some lakes or other decorations. A good example is the overworld in TSRPR. It's an extremely obvious edit of the vanilla OW but FPI managed to make it look fresh and exciting.
As for the levels, same applies. Add some hills, slopes, pits, bushes, platforms, ANYTHING to spice up flat areas.
For levels like these you might want to change the cape's flying feature so that the can't bypass the whole stage. There should be a patch for this on the website.
I'm saying that's an example. A lot of players will be reluctant to play a hack with a haphazardly done OW. A unique overworld is an indication that the creator really put time and effort into creating the hack.
About that, please do not rush this hack. Np offense, but What good is it to meet a deadline when the hack is just kinda... meh.
Looks like someone finally decided to use a plot about Mario decisively killing Bowser, rather than just "they killed Kenny." Coolio.
I guess Bowser will have to fall in something stronger than lava. Molten Nintendium, maybe?

Some of these might have compatibility issues but they're dang solid hacks
Doesn't look bad actually. I'd play it, but at the desert portion of the map you're overdoing it a bit with the cloud effects and you might want to remove some rocks. I know they will go away when you progress through the world but it's a bit of an eyesore
