Okay guys, I've updated every song with brr samples except the following: Player Down, Stage Start, Training Course and Yoshi's Island. Now time for our new additions to the Soundtrack: Kamek and Luigi Saved (still trying to figure out why it comes to an abrupt stop though)! Also, an update of excitement for me, I fixed a few tunings with Story Organ and gave it a run length of 3:35 to enable those who haven't heard past 2 min the slowdown to rewind part of the song (yes its actually included and sounds great!). Now, important information: guys my activity is gonna be increasingly slow because of school #w{=(}. Most of my time that you'll probably see me is during the weekends( but even then I want to start ranking again in Transformers Dark of the Moon #w{xD}). Please guys, while I'm gone, please don't hesitate to leave comments or suggestions and tips. It helps to know that people notice what I'm doing and also helps me GREATLY along the way because if there's one more thing I appreciate more than seeing my download count get higher, it's nice seeing NEW! next to my thread everytime I come to this wonderful site #ab{^_^}. BTW, I'll still try to help out in the General Help section.

Oh yea, the GUI version can be pretty buggy sometimes. Have you tried putting your hack in the same folder as AMK and dragging it to the "AddmusicK.exe" program instead? That always seems to work for me.

I think it may be your OS (Windows XP right?). My school has a bunch of XP computers and most of the SMW programs don't work on them, I believe it has to do with most of the programs having to need something called NET framework(?). That could be your problem. Have you tried using it with other PCs with different OS's? Sorry for replying with more questions, I'm just trying to narrow down some possibilities if it helps.

On tweaker, there should be a button labeled "Specific Options". Click it and in there you should see the option you're looking for. As for custom sprites, you can open up the sprite's cfg file with the cfg editor, there's an Extra Info section with Extra Property Byte 1 & 2. On Extra Property Byte 2, have it set to 01, instead of 00. That should make the sprite stay on ledges as stated here:

Not happening for me. Are you sure you're both A) using the latest version and B) when upgrading, replacing everything, not just AMK? This seems to be a common thread among strange crashes. Copy and overwrite everything, except Addmusic_list.txt if you don't want to.


I actually don't replace everything, I instead make a new AMK folder and unzip everything to that new folder (so I have almost every beta version), the only things I copy over to there are the texts, lists, and samples. Is that okay to do, or do I have to replace everything over the old one?

With xkas patches, does it still use those addresses you place for freespace, or does it search for freespace itself like asar patches once you've prepared them?

I've heard of patches that enable you to create Mode 7 stuff and asm codes for levelASM stuff, but I don't think there is a direct Mode 7 Boss edit patch/tool. The closest there is is that I've seen is Smallhacker's Iggy/Larry's Platform editing tool. Out of curiosity, what are you trying to edit in the boss battle exactly? Layout, enemies, or the bosses themselves? I know you can actually put Iggy/Larry in a normal level, but they'll be invisible and on a certain x-position, and everyone knows about Reznors and Lemmy/Wendy, but the other bosses themselves have special sprite backgrounds and layouts. I'll give you the info I know based from my experiences, 1st go to the boss you want to edit, click #lm{MARIO69} and change the mode to 00. Now, Morton/Roy can't have any sprites inserted or Mario will be pushed outside the walls (hence not allowing you to actually make contact with the boss themselves), only generators work. Ludwig can easily have sprites or generators inserted in his room(make sure you insert them at the top part of the 1st screen as that's where the battle is), though try and be careful as the background itself is actually sprites and having too much can glitch the background. The same thing is applied with bowser, be careful too with your sprite count as the castle roof top are sprite tiles too. Make sure to always change the mode back to what it was and save it.

My definition of brr is simply the individual samples of the song. A bnk is more like a compile of brr files for that particular level. The thing I like more about brr's is if you have another song that plays (such a P-switch, star, victory, death, etc) they will keep their own individual samples whereas bnks have the same samples for every song in that particular level. Someone can probably explain more easier than I can, but I'll tell you this, brr samples are WAY more easier to use in AMK than in AMM #w{=D}. Thank Jimmy52905, for he's the one who inspired me to remake the Soundtrack (I wish he'd see this thread #ab{-_-}).

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this before:
On your Story Organ SPC, it sounds a bit messed up. I don't know if you can hear it or not, but when I listen to it I can hear a little "ting" noise in the background, which is kind of annoying to my ears.

If you're using Addmusic4.05, it doesn't support brr samples, only bnks. AddmusicM and K are the ones that support brr samples. There are some nice tutorials that teach you how to insert them, AMK is the easiest to use personally, I also use AMK bc of the automatic SPC generator so I can check my progress faster. As for the weird "ting" in Story Organ, you must be referring to channel 3 @14. That's actually in the original spc. It's suppose to be the sound the music box makes as it's winding, its also the same sound in Channel 7 at 3:11 when it start rewinding too.

UPDATE TIME:So after much frustration, I finally have Training Course and Yoshi's Island with brr samples. Yoshi's Island was a huge pain bc of the LONG length ocean sample (@30). I had to sacrifice quite a few "!" on some SMW samples so I could fit it and not have to mess around with the $f1 command, but, well, here ya go! Enjoy!

It was a disassembly of Lemmy Koopa that they made their own modifications to. It looks like they got rid of the end-of-level routine and replaced it with the activate-p-switch routine. Lemmy/Wendy would would be the easiest to modify bc they've been disassembled and even though Bowser is too, he along with the other Mode 7 koopalings, might be harders especially because you can't add objects in those rooms in between to 2 IRQ lines (bc thats where the mode 7 is taking place in but Bowser's whole room is Mode 7, the castle roof is actually sprites). A good idea is you could probably make your own code to make mode 7 end once a boss is defeated, allowing you to add objects in the room, or an easier solution would be a sprite door that works just like a blue pow door, so you don't have to mess with the mode 7 parts. Those are just a few suggestions, thought someone with greater knowledge of ASM can help you, but these are just some ideas.

This is a thread I'm going to create for my problems in my project so I don't have to make thousands of threads. Well, here my first problem. I have a brr sample that's really big that it won't let me insert it in AMK because of the ARAM size it exceeds. I had to erase a lot of important(!) samples to make it fit, problem is, now my SFX sounds crappy. Are there any other suggestions, preferably something I can tweak to change the brr's size or length so it won't take up so much space? I've already tried lowering $xx with the $f1 command but it didn't work (I'm also trying to avoid that because I don't want to change how the music sounds). Here's the sample if anyone can help me. Here's the spc too. The brr is 30(duh #ab{:LOL:}).

Well for that, Addmusic is recommended, with 4.05, you can use sample banks and change the instruments per level. With M & K, you can change the original music's data such as samples (instruments), pitches, and other things, etc.

I had a similar problem with my custom ports I was creating. It said line 77, but it was a command in a line above it, so my guess is yours is similar as well. It says line 8, so I'm guessing there is a wrong hex command here:

Most likely reason being because the song you have contained a bank file. The bank file has the instruments for the song, sad thing about banks, is that they sometimes replace a current intrument's slot used for SFX in that particular level the song is in. A way to fix it would be to move around the samples with Sample Tool, and also also fix the text's instrument for that channel after that.
