This is has been my pet hacking project for a few months. So far, I've basically completed the first two worlds, as well as random levels from worlds 3-5.

I currently have some ExGFX and custom sprites, and plan to add custom blocks and patches soon. I'm a bit paranoid about using AddMusic. I destroyed another ROM with it. My current vision is a 60ish level hack complete with ExGFX, sprites, custom music, etc. (Cutscenes are also a possibility.)

The plot is as follows: Mario has decided to get away from the Mushroom Kingdom and heads down under to a land called Terranova. While there, he encounters a Moa, named Mele (may-lay) being harassed by Koopas. He saves him and learns that Bowser has set up shop in Terranova, kidnapping the Moas and their eggs. Mele is also concerned about a biologist living in a cabin, named Ellie, who may have been kidnapped by Bowser. It's up to Mario to liberate Terranova from Bowser!

Your hack looks great so far. I must say, I really like what you've done with just vanilla graphics. It feels almost like a new game while still retaining the look and feel of the original.

I like the concept, although may I suggest using different fruits so that each level has its own color. For example, you might consider using lime rather than lemon to avoid making two yellow levels.

Well, I've learned how to patch a ROM by creating a bat. file, but I'm still unsure what to do now. If I want to apply a second patch, should I reuse the same bat. file or just create a new one? I just want to stay on the safe side rather than risk damaging the patch or the rom.

I may collect if they're out in plain sight or easy to get, but I generally won't go to much trouble to get them.

I'll play any hack if it is fun and well-designed, regardless it's choco-content. Really, though, I prefer "chocolatish" hacks (I'm still not sure exactly what "chocolate" means, since everyone seems to have their own definiton.) I like hacks that have custom blocks and music, but still rely primarily upon the game's original graphics and also have gameplay similar to the original game.

Also, I absolutely do not like Kaizo hacks at all. They're fun to watch someone scream at, but that's it.

I started in 2001 when my uncle gave me his old SNES and Genesis. I distinctly remember being at school one day when I was eight and all I wanted to do was go home to play DKC.

Also, I played some kids' computer games earlier (such as the Humungous games) but I'm sure that doesn't count.

I'm actually very happy living in the Northwest U.S. or Southwest Canada. The climate is really comfortable (compared to most of North America.) Winter is mild and rainy (temps rarely drop below -5 C and it pretty much doesn't snow below 300 meters.) Summer, in contrast, is warm and sunny, although Portland can have some bad heatwaves.

It's currently -2C and partly cloudy where I live. The high tomorrow will be 12C and dry. The dry, mild weather pattern will likely last through Friday.

These people are obviously idiots, but it is shame that they somehow give gamers a bad name. After all, mentally unstable, irrational individuals such as them exist among all fanbases, regardless their interest.
