Hi, there. I am the newest member of SMW Central. I am commenting on this forum because I have no sweet clue how to create a Custom Overworld. I am very interested in this and if anybody can let me know how to do this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Dear SMWC Users & Staff, my name is GabrielJohn. I have been using the Program "Lunar Magic" to create a SMW ROMHack to make up for my Epic Failure known as SMW: Tag Team Invasion. To know which one to modify, the current name is "Super Mario World 1 Hack," but when it is completed, it will be named "Super Mario World: Dino Islands."

Positives:
1. Custom-made Overworld Map
2. Edited Levels
3. A Slight Increase in Difficulty
Negatives (As of Right now):
1. No Custom Sprites
2. No Custom Music
3. No Custom Stage Environments (FG & BG)
4. Castles, Switch Palaces, and Fortresses don't destroy upon completion
Extra Notes:
1. There is not Star World or Special World (Intentional)
2. There are 2 Additional Levels in World 4 that were not in the Original Game

If anyone know of any way to help improve my Hack or is willing to help me out, please post your comments to this Thread. I will have Screenshots of my Hack so far ASAP.
Dear SMWC Users, my Apologies for not having Screenshots of my hack so far. I apparently need a URL to post Screenshots. I was going to use the URL to my website, but it is not cooperating with me at all. I will do everything in my power to post Screenshots as soon as possible. Please bear with me and I apologize for the wait.
Here are the Screenshots so far. I will have more as soon as I can.

This is the Title so far. If anyone knows of any way to creating a Custom Title quickly and easily, please let me know.

This is the Plot of the Hack. There is a no Yoshi Sign before you see the Plot, this lets you know that Yoshi is not in this Hack at all, besides the Title Screen.

This Message Box doesn't lie. You must complete the Yoshi's House Level (will be changed eventually), which is the Training Level, before starting the first Official Level of the Hack

WARNING: The last few Screenshots are the Overworld Maps for the Hack. I understand its very repetitive, but it is the best I could do for my first time creating a Custom Overworld.


The Main Overworld Map, showing Worlds 2,4,6. If you look closely, there are 2 Additional Levels in World 4 (as mentioned before)

The World 1 Map. Look Closely. Yoshi's House (will be changed eventually) is the Training Level and Yoshi's Island 1 is a Secret Exit Level. I got it set so the Secret Exit brings you to the Yellow Switch Palace (shown on the Main Overworld Map)

The World 3 Map. The Secret Exit in Vanilla Dome 1 will be changed. You need the Red Switch in the Original Game to get the Secret Exit and in this Hack, you need the Secret Exit just to get to the Red Switch Palace.

The World 5 Map. Not really anything to say here. Most if not all the Levels are the same color dots as the Original Game. The Levels are not edited yet, but I guarantee they will be.

The World 7 Map. Once Larry Koopa is defeated, you don't go to Bowser's Castle. You instead goes to a Pipe that leads to Bowser's Stronghold.

The Bowser's Castle Map. Yes, so special, it gets its own Map. Not much to say here, just one straight path to Bowser.

These are the Screenshots so far. I will have more ASAP.
Since all I did on this Hack so far was make the Overworld (which sucks, I know) and edit the Yoshi's House Level, I will practice the Overworld Editing Process so I can become better at it, create a really sick Overworld, and redo the Training Level. That means, as of right now, posts I make to this Thread will be Temporarily stopped so I can recreate my Overworld. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Dear SMWC Staff and Users, my name is GabrielJohn. I have been trying to add Custom Music into my Work in Progress ROMHack, which is currently named "SMW: Dino Islands." I followed an AddMusic 4.05 Tutorial I found on one of the Threads here of SMW Central step by step and it worked...for the most part. Everything worked, but when I clicked on the song I wanted to use for that Level/Overworld, the entire Hack crashed. I don't know what happened, if there is a bug/glitch in the AddMusic 4.05 Program, or if I missed a step, but my Hack crashed. If anyone can help me to figure out why this happened, it would be greatly appreciated.#smw{:TUP:}
I never participated, but I should have...oh well. Anyway, I actually downloaded most of the Big Boo Boss Submissions, and I've got to say, there were some really good Submission Entries. You all did really well.#smw{:TUP:}

Name of Contest: The Boss Gauntlet 72 Hour Contest

Description: The Object of this Contest is to create a Boss Gauntlet, consisting of all the Koopa Kids, Bowser, Big Boo, and Reznor. You can be as creative as you like with this. You can change Foregrounds, Backgrounds, and Music, if you wish.

Requirements:
1. You must use 1 Level and 1 Level only
2. You must not make it Kaizo Difficulty (2 Reasons)
a) I cannot beat anything on Kaizo Difficulty
b) Kaizo Difficulty will get you Disqualified
3. You must use different Sprites for each of the bosses (with the exception of Reznor, I don't think there is a Custom Sprite for him)
*Not using Sprites will get you Disqualified or (if the Battle is created amazingly) lose 10 Points*
4. You must create it so the Boss Gauntlet can be done without Tools, like Savestates & Rewinds (Forced to use Tools will lose 5 Points)
5. You must not have any Bugs or Glitches (Will lose 5 Points)

Judging Rules:

Creativity /20
Does the Battle have a new idea? Does the Battle use Custom Sprites?

Difficulty /5
Is the Battle Challenging? Is the Battle too easy? Is the Battle an "all over the place" mess?

Overall /25

The Bowser Battle can be made any way you like, as long as Custom Graphics are used. The idea or Inspiration for this Contest came from the Final Boss of Super Mario World: The Second Reality Project Reloaded. In that particular Hack, you fought Bowser, but it was like the Mouser Battle from Super Mario Bros. 2 where you throw Bombs back at the Boss.
Yes, you have to use Custom Graphics for Bowser. You can use Custom Graphics for Foregrounds/Backgrounds, if you wish, meaning they are Optional. For those who want to use Custom Graphics for Foregrounds/Backgrounds, that is why I made the Deadline 7 Days. I will let them take their time.#smw{:TUP:}

How do you use the Saves? I don't seem to know how.#smw{o_O?}
I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I put the Save File I had in the "Saves" folder with Snes9x and it still wont play. Where do I go from here? How do I play my game with the Save File I Have?#smw{o_O}
I first tried loading the Save File and it didn't work. I then tried loading the Actual Hack the Save is meant for and it worked, but didn't show the Save File. I don't know how to use the Save?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got the Save to work.

I don't know how informative this is, but when I put in my Custom Music, all the music, except the music I put in, got really screwed-up. Because of this, I am requesting an AddMusicK Tutorial (or, at the very least, something to help me fix the screwed-up Music).#smw{o_O?}

I don't mean to go off-topic (and, hey, maybe I'm not), but I seen news on SMWC Main Page that there was an ExGFX Contest starting at noon today. Well, it is 1:01pm where I live and the news/requirements thread is nowhere to be seen. If I may ask, was the contest cancelled or is the contest not ready to be started? I was (kind of) wondering since it would be my FIRST EVER CONTEST to Participate in and I don't know if its started already or not.#smw{o_O?}
