That's very flattering, and we really do appreciate how supportive you're being, but Nintendo would totally nuke our entire existence if we made money off of this. We also have no intention to work on this full time, and as such we don't require payment for it. And if you're worried about this not being completed, well... you shouldn't be. We've stayed on schedule so far, and it's looking like we'll be able to release the final game before the end of 2021, assuming nothing goes wrong. That might be a tad optimistic of me, but even if it ends up delayed we're definitely finishing this.

My apologies for the buggy mess we released! We've worked very hard the past day to document and fix all the bugs, which I'm pleased to say that we managed to do. Hopefully you'll have a better experience with the now fixed demo. I hope you'll be forgiving enough to try it again.

I updated the demo again, you can now exit Path of Thunder and get to the castle level (and fight the boss). I recommend checking it out, the last level has some really cool stuff. You should be able to use the same .srm.

Now, we're getting some interesting feedback here!

This hack does indeed use SA-1. We've tested different emulators and it seems like ZMZ with snes9x core and BSNES work best. ZSNES sometimes works but is very inconsistent, and in addition to that has several graphical issues.

All characters will be able to buy upgrades with Yoshi Coins in the final version. Kadaal was the easiest to figure out upgrades for so he's the only one that has them in the demo. We also plan to add proper introductions to the new chars, it's quite understandable that just jumping right in is a little overwhelming.

That's... strange? Kadaal and Leeway both attack with Y and dash with A (although the dashes are a little different). Leeway can also dash with L, which is a callback to the Megaman Zero/ZX series he was inspired by. Are you sure you don't have doubled input bindings?

Smash is a fighting game first and foremost. Like any good fighting game, it is essentially high-level competitive problem solving. The controls are very intuitive. You have 4 attack types (jab/tilt, special, smash, and aerial), and you can use each type in different directions for different attacks. It's an absolutely legendary series and you owe it to yourself to play it if you're a fan of gaming, especially if you like Nintendo!

Hello everyone! We finally released a demo for our hack, check it out here!
DEMO

In this demo you can play Realm 2. Hopefully you'll enjoy the levels we made, as well as the 3 playable characters (Luigi is not yet in the game, sorry about that green fans). Push start on the level menu to choose your character. Push start on player 2's controller to enable multiplayer. In the demo, you can push select on the level menu to go to your home base. If you talk to the green yoshi there you can use Yoshi Coins to buy upgrades for Kadaal. If you find all 25 Yoshi Coins you will be able to access the door above and fight a secret boss, so make sure you explore thoroughly ;)

The demo currently has 5 levels and a boss fight with two endings, in addition to the secret boss. Have fun!

You’re doing a good job because these look great. Now, I do wonder, why would you attempt this with ExAnimation? Obviously it worked out but it just seems much clunkier than animating it manually.

Hello everyone! We of Team Välfärd, developers of Extra Mario World, are looking to expand our team! We currently have me in the programmer seat, PercentN in charge of tilesets and backgrounds, Eminus as sprite artist, and Ruberjig doing the music. We're primarily looking for level designers. If you're interested in designing levels with several new mechanics ("chocolate flavor", if you will), then this position is for you! Note that we are not looking for one person to design all the levels; we are looking for people who can contribute with good levels. It would be beneficial if someone could helm the level design aspect of the hack, but this is not strictly necessary, as our team work approach to this has been working quite well so far. We still have 6 worlds left to design, so you would probably have a lot of influence in the level designer position.

There is also room for a sprite programmer on the team. I'm currently the only programmer working on this, so someone else who is skilled with ASM could speed things up quite a bit.

In case you want a shorter introduction to the hack, I'll say this: People have called it "the next Brutal Mario", and I find that this is quite accurate. It's meant to be Super Mario World with extra everything: more playable characters (with co-op), new enemies and bosses, new powerups, a new story (minimalist, but still there), and new music. We do have high ambitions and we are getting there, but we can do it both faster and better with a stronger team.

This C3 was really fun. I’ve never worked so hard to get something ready on time, so it was quite the experience.

Erik’s sprite request was awesome. I think I’ll try doing that sometime.

This is a monkey sprite I'm working on right now. I'm struggling to get our hack compatible with LM3, which is needed for the levels we're working on right now, so we haven't had much to show in a while. Expect more meaty content soon.
