Totally in. I love the world themes and the collaboration/competition idea. I also think that people getting assigned levels/sublevels and graphics should prompt them to make the best level they can make (due to that and a lot more peer judgement).

I agree. Also, since you have cement and brown blocks wedged into the ground, what about munchers as well?

As much as I posted about metal music earlier, I'm listening to Flashing Lights by Kanye West. I saw him live about a month ago and I'm actually quite a big fan.

Fuck SOPA. Besides, not like the US even needs it. They already managed this without needing it.

Can we have pipe tiles going right with the different palette rows too?

Or, you could just download this and edit the .asm file before you insert it.

Code
Main:
LDA #!OneOrTwoOrThree
STA $1426
LDA #!Sound
STA !Bank
PHY
LDA #$02
STA $9C ; Erase self.
JSL $00BEB0
PLY
No:
RTL

Also make sure to delete the Erase self part because that defeats the purpose of a Message Block that stays put for multiple uses.

I sure hope so, I feel pretty good about my level (even if I only had a few days to make it :D).

I feel like I could've done more, but hey, there's always next time. I just gotta see how I stacked up to everyone else and figure out what to improve upon.

As part of my personality I guess, I like order and things that make sense. Having a bunch of worlds that have a specific theme that is somewhat strictly followed tickles my fancy. Ex. Ice world, Lava world, Pipe world, etc.

If I were to combine, I'd have to make it something really neat, as in some kind of Fire and Ice world.

In my hack... which I haven't started planning yet (kinda trying to prepare for the Vanilla contest) I'm going to go for worlds that tell a story through progress. Ex. Great plains -> Mountain's Base -> In the Volcano, etc. For some reason, I just really enjoy the RPG SMW overworld thing, and I think it'll work really well with my idea right now.

I have a question, should some of those corner tiles on the specific hill-edges have dirt as well as transparency? I know I'm going to use that effect quite a bit.

Pipes going left and pipes going right use the exact same tiles.

I assume that that would be included with the pre-formed vertical pipes.

Man, we ARE lazy.

You mean horizontal? I'm just being lazy, believe me, I know. I like everything on one page.

I had a dream where I was scared about what happened after I die, then in my dream I died somehow, and on my way to the afterlife, all I could think was "wherever I wake up is my next life." Then I woke up in real life and started freaking out.

I lived in Japan for a month and a half under an exchange program. I downloaded ROM hacks and made my own in my free time, you'll be fine. You won't get arrested for a game that's been out for, oh, 20 something years now?

For the record, I think the law you are referring to is for new ROMS, like if you downloaded Pokemon Y off the internet. Super Mario World is harmless to download in Japan.

If you need even more proof, one of the most popular hacks on this site (Brutal Mario) was made by Carol, a Japanese hacker.

In other years I've seen that ExGFX was strictly disallowed, so I'm glad we're getting a bit more freedom with the vanilla graphics this time. Certainly allows me more creative liberty.

Not sure for how many I speak, but I think that will suffice. Too many pre-made fancy dirt formations makes people use them who otherwise might not have, and encourage levels that all look the same.

Well, I'd agree with you, but we only get half a map 16 page if we enter the contest... So those tiles that you're suggesting we remove would take up almost all of the space on a half page for people that want to use them. We're allowed small ExGFX edits this year so I think anything and everything to do with the original SMW should be on the third page so that our own map 16 page can be used for whatever we want with more room.

I'm really wanting to do a water/ice cave level, since I just did a forest level for the Strawberry contest and I know for sure that Grasslands are going to be over half of the entries.

I actually think the perversion made the show funnier. As I matured, so did it.

Yes, I find myself knowing how to code a lot easier now that I have basic knowledge from tinkering with ASM, and I also learned a lot about aesthetics and how putting time and effort into something makes it much more enjoyable in the long run.

Plus it's an easy way to make friends by showing off your hacking skillz.

Well, do you mean like putting a coin inside of water without the cutoff and weirdness after you collect it? Maybe you can insert the coins or water into layer 2; that can work, I think.
