No ExGFX or custom blocks/sprites/hex edits/anything used.
I made an evil Bowser battle for my hack. It involves a ghost ring and some hex edits :). This also has a side effect that Peach's mushroom doesn't spawn due to sprite overload, heheh.
Mine is an ice level, I used level 105.

How do you beat Tubular 2 in Cool or Cruel? I'm stuck on the part after the midway point. How are you supposed to fill in the coin blocks?

Edit: nvm, found the video. No wonder the level has FFF seconds.
I had the same problem. I couldn't get Addmusic revX to work at all (it always said "No music has been inserted"). However, I was able to insert some music in my hack by using Addmusic by Carol v1.12. However, it doesn't work with all music. Some music I wanted gave a syntax error (which I had no idea how to fix in the music's txt file), but other music worked and didn't crash ZSNES when entering the level.

All I did was put the music in the "music" folder and name them the number I wanted to insert them as, then ran addmusic_e.exe, typed in the rom name (which I copied to the addmusic folder) and it worked.

BTW, even though the music works, LM shows "Not used" anyway for the music number I inserted it as. Not sure if that's normal.

Also, make sure to backup your rom before trying to insert music.


I have a 1up mushroom in front of a cloud object. It looks fine in LM, but in ZSNES, the 1up is behind the cloud (but still collectible). The cloud tile does not have layer priority. I couldn't find anything in Tweaker that affected this. Is there a way to fix this?
Hieda no Akyu, that is one epic tutorial. I've been looking for exactly how to do this, so I can make sideways munchers. This should be stickied.

My kaizo hack is finally finished! This hack has more than 12 evil levels, a custom overworld (with some graphics edited in YY-CHR), custom music, and some ASM patches & hex edits. All levels are tested and beatable. I'd love to see someone TAS it :).

Is it the part with the mushroom? If the Fishin' Boo's flame doesn't touch you, it's possible to trick it into turning by unducking for a split second and ducking again before the screen crushes you so you move a bit to the left so the Fishin' Boo turns around and the flame touches you.
Has anyone beaten Super Not Nice World yet?

Here's my entry, Super Another One Level Romhack World. I used some hex edits to make things harder, and made some graphics edits in YY-CHR. It also has custom music and a custom overworld. This is for "The Best Kaizo Contest."

DId you even test it? That's all I'm gonna say, seems impossible because of certain aspects.


Yes I tested it, and it's beatable even without slowdown (just really hard).


Edit: Updated my entry with better music, and added some difficulty.

Here's an update for Super Not Nice World. No new levels, but I removed the stacked/floating munchers and fixed all graphical glitches (goal spheres, the final boss room, etc). A couple of levels (and the intro) are a bit more difficult though. The overworld is unchanged, so any current savestates on the overworld will still work.

Edit: fixed one more muncher.
Edit: fixed some obvious "level broken"-ness.
Edit: missed a few glitched chucks.
Edit: final update, some small visual changes and fixed two broken levels.
Fixed some glitched note block bounce sprites (I don't use any eeries or blurp fish anyway).
