*technico necro ;(, but at least im back*
gulp I bet I will find myself staring at assembly jargon and stuff. I'm only a hacking newbie, but I shall look into it... #smw{T_T}
I'd like to have a knock at reviewing a bad hack and making a funny removal log. Y'know, just like the old times.
But... I can't ASM and I get biased against chocolate hacks using resources directly ripped from other games not from the franchise the original game is from. Also I'm not mod and I have little knowledge.
All the same I shall try, so please may I have a go? Please? #tb{''}
i cri everytim
Sorry for asking...

Besides, those reviews like "the good old days" have long since been abolished if you're talking about what I think you're talking about (where the remover has like a huge list of screenshots and nitpicks underneath making fun of the tiniest detail, right?), so even if you were a mod it probably wouldn't be as exciting anyway.

Yes, I am talking about that.

I'd also like to add that sometimes making jokes in a removal log to make it seem "funny" can very likely not be well welcomed by the hack author, which is something a hack moderator, trusted to give their final decision on a hack objectively, will want to avoid. Even if you were to make a normal removal log, you wouldn't be given it since this is obviously what the site already has hack moderators for.

I actually kinda liked them. I remember one where there was a fake newsflash about a dry-bones' anger after a dynamic sprite glitched them. And another from which I remember the quotes 'i haz invisible cape' 'and i wax u wit it'. Yeah, reading the old log was really fun and I am kinda upset they went away.

Really feel like doing something similar to a (funny) removal log? Leave a review in the hack page stating your opinions on why the hack should be removed with the jokes there - it's the closest to a removal log you can do being a regular user.

I might try that.
How exactly does it work? I tried it and all I got was a glitchy mess. #smw{:(}

*psycho theme*
Look at the white parallax custard! I didn't ask for this!
(1-1, BG1 and 3 palettes same as in vanilla 2-2 'The Baseball Boys', ignore the fugly BG2 palette).
(There. Removal log for my hack done XD :p)
EDIT: I am using BizHawk as my emulator here.
Level Mode changed. Still custard.
And where IS the BG scroll settings?
EDIT: Herp Derp - I was looking at the wrong section.
Now, the parallax is fixed. It's STILL custard-ish, so WHA- oh wrong section BG3 palette hard darp 2.0
EDIT2: There's holes in the cover where I have my semi-solid platformmms~, and where I put some holes (well, one hole to surround an Egg Block I placed soon before the end of the tunnel). Should I just... not... use those... objects with the cover?

I actually wrote all there is to know about this!!!!

That's technical details on how they work. I wanted to know how to incorporate them into a level properly, without knowing all the itty-bitty details of their internal coding. #smw{¬_¬}
Dude, come on! I wanna fight smithy! Or maybe Jinx, I don't get the editor's problem... mainly Smithy tho.

Don't make me... *grabs uber hammer suit and threatens to throw a hammer with it* DON'T. MAKE. ME.
So, I really do wonder what the fuss is with 'red' Piranha Plant stems - I heard that it causes 'VRAM Corruption', requiring you to have to use a patch before you even think about using it... and it all just sails over my head. May someone please explain all of this before my mind explodes...?
Note that I don't know any ASM so please, if you must show me some internal code or the red stem fix patch, comment it to death #smw{._.}
I'm asking WHY it happens in the first place. Dude, come on.
also that was quick :p
oh ok.
Also, ooooh growing/shrinking pipe was glitchy? I'm intrigued. Sorry for being such an inquisitive bother #smw{:(}
I looove making levels for games more than I enjoy playing the normal levels. Need I say more than if I have any way to express my creativity via games, be sure of me snapping it up sooner or later.
This entire thing is beautiful, so I wanna see a sneaky peak of one of the fire levels in World 7 as I haven't really seen a good ol' volcano level in a SMW hack (but then I don't look at many hacks).
Ice and Fire in the same world? I didn't know this was Sword and Shield Maze #ab{>:}
#smw{:trollface:} im not clever
I just would save that beauty of a castle theme remix for either ghost houses or Bowser's Castle (if it's gonna be lengthy like the vanilla SMW one) and use a remix of the NSMB1 or (preferably) the NSMBW/NSMB2/NSMBU castle theme. Personal preference, it's 3spooky5urusualcastle in my humble opinion #smw{:TUP:}
Oh yeah, and with Buzzsaw Bridge (not looked at all the previews yet #smw{._.})... gotta love them autoscroll fg clouds #smw{@_@}
