Tip: Press F2 on the level editor to see subscreen boundaries. This will help you avoid glitching dragon coins by putting them on the subscreen boundaries.
Maybe it can include them trying to get Morton to go back to Bowser; while yet subtly including phrases that suggest they dislike Bowser too. I feel like they should also be pretty funny; serious, but not too serious at the same time - puns, terrible jokes, and whatnot.

The intro text is fine, in my opinion; it doesn't need to be changed, I think.
As for the checkpoints, I think it's unnecessary that you have to complete the levels again starting from them, but I guess it doesn't hurt to be on the save side. This most likely means that you can only have very few checkpoints (read: only one) per level, though, since otherwise you would have to complete your level a bunch of times, which Nintendo probably wants to prevent. I sure hope I'm wrong on this and you can actually place more than one checkpoint, though. At the very least, I'd like to place checkpoints in the middle of my levels, as well as right before the boss fights.
As you saw in the video, this is to stop people punishing the player for taking the checkpoint (for example, like a Kaizo trap).
I also doubt they'll let us put more than one checkpoint in a stage; to keep it simple, I guess.
That's it. I lost because of my attempt to popularize it. No, seriously, I feel like I want to rant, but I already said I was willing to be defeated. You win, MercuryPenny.
Yet by the way you wrote that you sound as if you want to rant and that you aren't willing to be defeated. But, bad luck anyway; the song was really good, so, it's pretty much confirmed that it'll be used somewhere else within the hack.
I prefer the alternate version, purely because it's louder. Also, the bells do feel a bit too low in pitch; maybe raise them by half an octave?
Looks kinda nice, that second big ground slope at the second screen could be moved a bit to the right, along with the ground next to it (I feel like it would look better).
Yes, I disabled the timer. The maximum Lunar Magic would allow(400 seconds) is way too short.
Use to bypass it, the maximum is FFF.
Or he could just disable it. Which he did. This is the the better option; the status bar looks so much better without a timer that is needlessly ticking down. FFF is equal to 4095 seconds; how is the player going to end up using all of them, even in a long stage?
tl;dr - ignore Kooper.

There seems to be not much going in both of these images; it's very empty. Try putting coins or decorations in; without anything to make the stages less barren, the player is going to get bored really quickly. Also, custom palettes go a long way; that cave area could turn into something completely different; rather than the boring "we've seen it before" SMW palettes.
It is; purely because the whole OS has been optimised (for example, many system processes are now less resource-heavy, due to just... well, better code).

and I've heard rumors about things that actually seem outright underhanded, such as not letting you customize updates.
Yes, that's true. But many updates seem to not require a restart (some still do, of course); but, that's not too distracting, in my opinion. Having to restart and not use your computer for ~2/3 minutes isn't going to kill anyone, is it?

And is it true that it tracks your keystrokes, or is that an unfounded conspiracy theory?
Complete BS. Someone on Neogaf probably said it; we all know what happens with Neogaf "theories"... Sure, there has been an uproar about privacy on Windows 10, and how it "invades privacy"; but you can make a judgement on that for yourself. Read this for more.

What are the benefits of upgrading?
• Faster OS
• Internet Explore is now gone, replaced with Edge
• Start Menu that mixes Live Tiles (from Windows 8.1) and the traditional layout
• Task View and the ability to have multiple "desktops", like in Ubuntu
• Windows Store (so, like the App Store on Mac, but for Windows; with some great games, may I add)
• Small things, like a new Photos, Music and Videos app
• Notifications are now in the Action Center
• Better Windows Phone integration (especially when Windows 10 Mobile comes out)
Overall, I would upgrade to Windows 10. I mean, it's free, and if you don't like it, you can roll back within 30 days from upgrading (just don't delete a folder called Windows.old the root of the drive you installed Windows after you upgrade).
I'm trying to keep the hack as vanilla as possible(so I probably won't use exGFX for the underground segment)
They're not the same; I still consider anything that has palette changes vanilla. Seriously, you should do it; you'll learn something AND improve the visuals of your hack.

It could be a problem if I'm in the middle of something that can't be paused, such as a video upload or file transfer. And what if the update itself is something I don't want?
Well, you can delay updates (I believe); just not by long periods of time (more than a day). An hour or two, I think. It's frustrating, but they want Windows to be super-duper-unbreakable-unhackable-OP so they're now forcing you to update.
And most updates are actually... updates. They'll add things; there's a big update coming soon, I believe, that adds a lot of features.
Huh. Does that apply equally whether you got the OS from scratch or upgrades from W7 or 8? Also, what about that comment made by babunulene on August 25?
The EULA for Windows 10 doesn't change between an upgrade and an install from media (CD, for example); so, yes.
Also, could you please give me a source for the comment made by babulene; I can't find it. I'm a bit dubious on it; you say it was made before Windows 10 came out (I know there was the Technical Preview, but those were missing bits from the EULA, I believe).

Well, I've never used or seen the App Store on Mac, so...I don't know what that would be like.
Then you're in for a nice surprise.

Was there anything wrong with the old ones?
These new ones are fully featured; for example, Windows Photo Viewer couldn't play .gif files (I believe) - the new Photos app can. It also sorts your images; and pools them together. They all have more features than their Windows 7 counterparts; plus, they're all still in Windows 10 for legacy support

I have no smartphone nor desire to get one, and even if I did, I doubt it would be a Windows one.
Sorry Gabe Aul, I didn't manage to bring him to the dark side...

I was fine with just the traditional layout anyway.
