Hi everybody!

New to the hack community, I want to discover some of the hacks, whether it's SMW or SMB3.
But I'm not looking for real difficulty. All I want basically is to extend the Mario joy with "new games", that would have a difficulty close to the originals for example.

I've heard 3Mix could fit. Maybe Chaos Control too?

Any other suggestions?

Hi

So I used to play the SMW romhack Kamek's Island, and got a bit frustrated by some lags at some points that made it very to play.
I thought it was the romhack, so I stopped playing it.

Now I start Something Else, and after 2 levels I already got 2 lags...

I'm starting to wonder if that come from me or the romhacks?! I'm on a laptop, so it's not gaming material, but that's just emulator and SMW, so...

Is it a problem from the romhacks? With ZSNES? Anything else?

Normal for me, because easy is too easy and it gets quickly boring, and hard and above requires patience, which I don't have, skill, which I don't have, and knowledge of tricks, which I don't have.

A hack that barely got started: an easy hack from Linkdead.
He said he would do one for people who couldn't play at the level of Super Panga World, then later said he started but abandonned because he quickly got bored of doing easy stuff, that he wanted to do hard stuff.
I think he talked about doing one a few days ago, not sure though, and definitely not sure if he will go through with it.

But Link's level design with a difficulty I can play? Hell yeah, he got me super excited when he said that

Super Panga World.

For me it's an immense shame to refuse it, especially for some dodgy reasons. It's a really great hack I think, with great ideas, and people can't even find it easily.

I wonder if a SMW Tutorial romhack exists?
Where they teach you different trick from SMW (shell jump, cape things, and many others), with message box telling you what to do and reset doors and stuff like?
So not a game per say (you don't die, there is no "I finished the game"), but really a tutorial for people like me, who see a lot of stuff from skilled people, but have no idea how to do it.

My first tought is that there are too many sprites, but I don't have enough experience to say if there are a lot or not.
I watched the first minute or so of the video, I haven't really seen lag. At least not like I have!

So yeah, I think too that I can't get rid of it, but I became unsure when I saw nobody else complaining about lags in those romhacks (and in Kamek's Island, it's really a problem). But maybe more people here play on SNES?

I've heard in a romhack a music that I think is cool, but I can't find it back. Can't remember the romhack either (was it Kamek's Island? Not sure).

I also had that idea once. It would be especially useful for people who want to begin playing Kaizo hacks as they need you to master quite a large number of advanced tricks.
Speaking of Kaizo, this "tutorial hack" could have various sections. Maybe something like "Beginner > Regular Mario physics > Advanced SMW physics > Kaizo tricks > Glitches mastery".
And if it was complete enough we could even feature it, or maybe even put a link into the site's welcome message.

That's quite a cool idea anyway.

Yep exactly my thought. From beginner (which I am) up to Kaizo stuff.

So I've made my very first hack! It's called Super Mario Pants World and it was originally made for Linkdeadx2.
It has 7 exits and the difficulty is probably around hard I would say (though to judge, but I finished it without save-states, and my skill is around original SMW). There is also the possibilty of a Lunar Dragon road, with the presence of Yoshi coins and moons.

V2.0 - What changed
- Retry system added!
- No more obligatory midway after collecting dragon coins (as midways don't save them) (so Lunar Dragon route is way more comfortable)
- Unintended skipping strats fixed in 'How Original' and 'Sounds Familiar'
- Less waiting in 'How Original' (with shorter guide lines)
- 'Sounds Familiar': info-box less misleading; last jump a bit less tight
- Adjustements on some Yoshi coins (usually to either make them a bit more challenging, or more visible)
- Death blocks are now custom
- Visuals improved

Not much.
Maybe more use to some stuff, like dolphins or other very unused things (I have another one on the tip of my tongue but can't quite remember it).
Other than that I think the whole game is actually pretty solid on all aspects.

I like the level design in some JUMP levels. I love the designs of Super Panga World. Creative, smart designing and looking good

Maybe hitboxes being the actual shape of the object? Like spikes having triangle hiboxes?

I never wanted to make an other hack while making my first. I knew what I wanted, and I wanted it finished.
Maybe the hack being actually for somebody made the additional motivation, I don't know, but I didn't feel that.

Now I'd like to say "I'll make another hack" but quite frankly, I just don't have the creativity. I don't have the ideas, at all. My first hack already was tough because of a huge lack of ideas.
That and me being bad at the game, so completed it is tough (and I find easy difficulty levels even harder to make)
