Hey, so I felt like playing some super mario world hacks. I've played a lot of hacks before, for the original SMB and SMB3, but I haven't played SMW hacks in a long time.

So, I got a hack i found on this site, SMW rom, ZSNES, and tried to patch the rom with the hack through Lunar IPS.

patch successful.

ZNES

...

Bad rom

I could tell you more boring unimportant details, but they're unimportant and boring.

I think it's the rom. Getting it from emuparadise, and it's in .sfc format instead of .smc format. I did try doperoms, and they did have a .smc format, but it still didn't work. Plus, that place is littered with adware and malware.

WAT DO
1. Sorry. Was negligent to learn how this forum worked and to get familiar with each board before posting

2. I'm not familiar with SNES emulation. I enjoy NES and DOS emulation more. If I have or want to, I emulate SNES on my Wii or PSP

2. Oh. ok

3. Many, mostly featured hacks
Sorry for not closing this, I should've addressed the fact that I solved this problem myself just minutes after my last post.

It turns out that my rom wasn't clean. Thanks to Alcaro's program ROMclean, I was able to fix my rom.
One that focuses on one big castle adventure. I would love to play that, and it would be even better if it had a decent challenge.
I'm brand new to rom-hacking. Where can I find a short but sweet video tutorial for Lunar Magic?
I am currently working on my first rom hack ever. I only installed Lunar Magic three hours ago. Currently, I am trying to make a section of the level where the player could jump on the musical note blocks to reach a platform where they could obtain a mushroom, but the problem I'm having is that Mario jumps offscreen when he gets too high, but the screen doesn't follow him.

If you could provide an answer I would be very thankful.

If you could criticize the level so far (about 15 seconds of playtime), I'd be happy about that, too.

solved, was YY-chr problem
I believe you are just trying to load the .ips file alone.

If you haven't already, patch the rom! Here's how-

1. download floating IPS here

2. if you haven't already, use google to search for a "super mario world rom".

3. put the hack, the rom, floating IPS and zsnes all into one folder. This isn't necessary, but makes things easier.

4. Download ROMclean Here.

5. Rename your Super mario world rom to "Super Mario World." Again, this makes things a lot easier.

6. Go to properties of the rom, and see if it is a .smc or a .sfc file. Remember this

7. Open rom clean, then type in either

"Super Mario World.smc"

or

"Super Mario World.sfc"

make sure the .s blah blah is the same .s blah blah you saw in properties. Try both, it won't hurt.

8. once your rom is clean, open floating IPS.

9. Click on "Apply IPS patch"

10. Find your rom hack when it opens up file explorer the first time"

that will close when you click on the hack, then open up again

this time, click on your rom

once more, file explorer will close and reopen itself. This time you will be making a destination for the playable ROMHACK you put togehter. Name it whatever you like, then hit save.

11.go to ZSNES (or ZMZ, I use both of them) and find the rom you applied the patch to.

12.open

Ignore that. Drag'n'drop the ROM onto romclean.exe.

Or use this and it'll throw up a file picker dialog.

O

Did no know of possibleness
I want to change this

To something like this

I feel like this is possible in YY-CHR, but I can't find the graphic.
Since I'm making so many of these threads, I'm going to provide imagery every time to make it easier to help me #tb{:)}

Well, I've screwed myself now. I deleted the original overworld!!

Help!?!?!?!

are you even listening

First, download Floating IPS.
Then, download any ROM hack.
Next, open the ROM hack with Floating IPS and patch your SMW ROM (select the clean ROM, then save as a new ROM).
Then, play the ROM that was created after patching.

And that's all, really. The ROM Hacks here aren't just download and play because that would be illegal. That's why we use patches.

I believe getting an SMW rom is what he is having trouble with.

You have a personal file bin on here.

Thank you, i was looking for that #tb{:]}
Okay, so I've moved mario, right? but when i load the rom , he is still in the middle of the sea!
How can I make the overworld better?

What can I do for animations?

I'd like you to see the hack so far yourself.

Here is a picture supported tutorial

1. Get all of this into one folder

2. Drag your rom into ROMclean

3. The command prompt should flash on the screen, and then that is it for ROMcleaning (i think, did not test)

4. Open floating IPS

5. Click "apply patch"

6. It should open up your file explorer. Find your hack that you downloaded on this website and select it, then click "open"

7. Then, when that closes, find the Super Mario World ROM and open that

8. Finally, file explorer will reopen a third time. This is where you will save the rom hack you will be able to play.

9. "THE PATCH WAS APPLIED SUCCESSFULLY"

10. open your emulator and find the rom you patched with floating IPS

11. things should work!

Programs to download

1. get your hack here

2. get ROMclean here

3. get Floating IPS (seen as Flips in the screenshots) here

4. get your ROM off of the internet. Search "Super mario world ROM" in google

5. I believe you already have an emulator, but you can use ZMZ, Snes9x, or higan (don't tell anyone, but I use ZSNES even though it's outdated.)
Tutorial for noobs

When I first joined this site, I could NOT get romhacks to play because the FAQ didn't explain everything clearly. Then, after searching everywhere for information, I finally was able to get things going on my own. Just a day after I was abe to play romhacks though, another user had the same problem. I thought a picture tutorial on what i did step-by-step would be great for many people new to ROMhacks, IPS files and emulation.

so, here you go

Programs to download

1. get your hack here

2. get ROMclean here

3. get Floating IPS (seen as Flips in the screenshots) here

4. get your ROM off of the internet. Search "Super mario world ROM" in google

5. Get an emulator. Some recommended ones are higan, ZMZ, and Snes9x

STEPS

1. Get all of this into one folder

2. Drag your rom into ROMclean

3. The command prompt should flash on the screen, and then that is it for ROMcleaning (i think, did not test)

3a. If that doesn't work, open ROMclean and trype in the name of your unclean rom as "rom name.smc" or "rom name.sfc"

I forgot about posting this, but I'm glad I found it again because these ROMhacks rock! Thank you for sharing! playing the first one that Face recommended right now.
