Yeah I am unable to get my laptop to record sound, it took me forever to record good sound on my old computer. It is a shame too, because the music was awesome.

No problem Fakescaper, and do whatever you want with the review.

I can understand you not adding a lot of new palettes if you were really rushed BlackEagle766, anyway the most important part is level design anyway and you nailed it.

I agree and the deadline comes way to soon, you should give people at least two weeks otherwise very few people are likely to participate.

It's not exactly a bad idea, but I don't like how you implemented it. Like others have said the background is too bright and the animation is kind of annoying.

I finished with 46 seconds but with save states. It was a little too hard to find your way. What I suggest is to add more direction. I personally didn't like all the invisible walls. So I think it would be a good idea to make the walls visible. Everything else of course will remain invisible.
See this:

I whipped it up real quick to demonstrate what I mean.

I finally finished reviewing it.
Here it is:

Vanilla Rain Review

I loved it excellent job! It's a shame you couldn't completely finish it.
I wouldn't call the story stupid, just silly.

Oh well if you want the coin blocks to be solid all the time you can make use of map 16 and make a regular invisible coin block (exactly like a coin block only invisible).

Yeah making it less bright and disabling the animation on those blocks could work too.

Eh, I still got some Spring Break left so I can test for you.

Here you go Ulti:

Triple Q's entry

Lucky to still have it, I usually delete them after I play them.

Wow pretty good for your "first good attempt".

I thought the level was designed very well.
However if you'll allow me to nitpick a few things:

0:35 Smiling Clouds seem out of place in this level
Past 1:05 (when you're on the flying platform) the platforms the munchers are on look kind of plain, they
could use a grassy top (like the other ground in the level)

I'm loving the graphics you're using, keep up the good work.

Looks good CDPower but the barrels really clash with everything else since they are more 3-d and everything else has a simpler look to it.
You probably should simplify the graphics for the barrel (if possible).

Looks nice otherwise a great stage that reminds me of Donkey Kong Country 2 one of my favorite games!

Meh I can't find anything bad about that screenshot, looking good.

I guess you could add more detail to the background but it really is fine as is.

I'm guessing you switched over to Lunar Magic 1.7?

You know I've never made a kaizo level before (well not with lunar magic), so maybe it'd be fun to make one for this contest.

I'd probably go for "creativity" since "hardest" would be a pain for me.

The userbar seems fine to me, what don't you like about it Ulti?

Better Palette:

That certainly looks better than before, but orange and gray don't go well with each other. Also the orange gets too light, try darkening it some like this:

I created one for the creativity contestants.

What do you think? (my 1st self made userbar by the way)

@ JeRRy86

That was intentional, I did it so they would match the red bg.

Here Ulti:

I hope you like the judge one, it's kind of hard to come up with an idea for a "Kaizo image".

i am surprised :P
well goodluck to everyone :)
i may not reply all too much on this thread anymore unless i see a video or secreenie, or a question is directed towards me :)

I just tried to play yours and it crashes right when I enter the castle ( I just get a black screen).

I've finally gotten started with my level, hopefully it'll end up being decent.

I've had a major delay on my entry due to real life stuff, but now finally got it done!

To be entered under Creativity category:
Cavern of Goo

My first ever Kaizo level.

I'll probably upload a video of the first section later.

Here's a link to a video of the first section.

Cavern of Goo Section 1

I'll be a judge too if that's ok, I hope you get a good amount of contestants.

I took a go at the grinder: (2 versions)

Sorry I can't post the animation. I'm still working on improving them.

@ TheGamer

I think the cloud smile is okay, but I agree on the star block the star looks a little odd. The rest look great though imo.

Improved grinder:

Yeah you were right TheGamer the animation didn't look quite right. This animation is now a lot better, but I'm afraid it now looks too much like the original. Thoughts?

Thanks for improving that grinder leod, that's actually what I was trying to go for but had a lot of trouble getting the animation to look right. You did a great job!

Nobody has tried Mechakoopas right?

Pretty odd little guy I came up with.
