I'm trying to make a yellow mushroom (that's the same color yellow as a yellow Koopa Shell and not the same color yellow as the five-block extending platforms) that behaves like a Super Mushroom in movement and the way it disappears upon touching Mario, but gives Mario the powers of a P-Balloon when Mario touches said yellow mushroom, but I don't know how to make such a sprite. I'm also trying to make a sprite boss using Bowser's SMW graphics from Super Mario Maker, using his behavior from said game's SMW style.
I'd like to claim the Galoomba (0F) and the P-Balloon (7D).

This is isn't so much asking for help as it is a request, but I guess I'll bite. Judging by the first question you asked it sounds like you are very new to asm. I'm going to help you with the first one since it is actually a good 1st sprite to start out with. The second thing you asked for requires more ASM knowledge.

download this sprite and scroll down to where it says "mario contact". the command JSL $F606 tells the snes to jump to a subroutine somewhere. If you look in the rom map, $F606, tells the game to kill the player. so this is what you need to change.

If you search for "balloon" in the ram map, two entries come up:

Note that I haven't actually tested this, and there are probably other things you need to do (e.g. store #$1E to $1DF9 to make the p-balloon sound play) to make this work. But hopefully this gives you somewhere to start off from.


Thanks, man. This is actually for a ROM Hack I'm working on that uses new maps, new female playable characters (one from an anime, and one from a western cartoon), and a new Bowser battle using his SMM sprites.
Okay, so I saw a GIF of a Super Mario 64 ROM Hack that replaced Mario with Princess Peach on Tumblr one day. Can someone make a Super Mario 64: Peach Edition that has Mario and Peach swap roles once again with Peach as the playable hero and Mario as the NPC in distress?

Once I get a better computer, since my old laptop is busted, I'll make an upgraded SMW hack, which looks identical to the original game, but with a hidden Bonus World that contains special levels that focus on collecting Coins and extra lives through gimmicks like Triangle Blocks, Power Balloons, spin-jumping, riding Lakitu's Cloud, P-Switches, flying with the Cape Feather, and more. In fact, I was wondering how to give Luigi his own separate set of physics like in The Lost Levels (i.e.: slower speed, lower traction, higher jumps) while giving him the appearance of running in midair while jumping, while having Mario keep his normal physics (i.e.: normal speed, normal traction, normal jumps)'

Also, I was hoping that Ms. Kelly and Mr. Martinet would record for the person that made the hack unique voice clips that are like listening to the original Super Mario 64 voice clips if Mario read Peach's dialogue and Peach used her own variations of Mario's voice clips.

The only problem is that I don't want Luigi to have his SMA2 abilities (i.e.: bouncier fireballs, scattering Coins from Coin Blocks, Yoshi being able to spit out enemies, etc.), nor do I want his fireballs to have Smash Bros. physics.

3. How do you change the sprite set of a level to make certain objects and enemies appear (i.e.: Ninjis in the first half of Iggy's Castle, Lakitus in Cookie Mountain, Hotheads in Roy's Castle, Para-Galoombas in Valley of Bowser 3, etc.)?
Quick question: Is there any way to change a P-Balloon's floating trajectory (i.e.: floating vertically like a real balloon) or make it float in place?
Question concerning the ASM: How do I insert SFX to custom sprite interactions? (i.e.: making a Vine Block sound whenever you hit a block that would otherwise sprout a P-Switch, making the Chargin' Chuck/Koopaling Grunt sound whenever you stomp on a Rex the first time, etc.)
I keep getting an error message while patching any UberASM patch that reads "Missing org or freespace command. Define !addr not found. Errors were detected while assembling the patch. Assembling aborted. Your ROM has not been modified."
Is this thread still active?
I think it's awesome, if I do say so myself. Hopefully, we'll get more level screenshots in the future.
I can't wait for the finalized ROM Hack. ;)
Request Names: Balloon Generator
Types: Generator
Short Description: A generator that spawns Balloons from the bottom of the screen.
Long Description: This generator behaves like the Boo Buddy Swarm and the unused Swooper Swarm, generating Balloons from the bottom of the screen that float and behave similarly to how individual ones do. This generator is meant to be used in bonus areas, like the cloudy area from Chocolate Island 3, etc. It stays on the bottom of the screen regardless of the screen scrolling upwards, unlike the aforementioned Swarms.
*prepares to be shunned* Undertale and Deltarune.
Reggie was the only thing enjoyable. Everything else just stunk.
