Only one minor thing I'd like to suggest is to make the blue door (which I assume to lead into a cave, just like SMW) not seem to be "floating", it feels kinda weird.

For the rest, not much to say. I'd choose more eye-friendly colors for some of your background areas in levels, like in this screenshot you provided.

I haven't played the hack yet, but I guess I could give it a try since it looks nice either way.

Yeah, I put a lot of work into the overworld haha. The door leads into the third world which is Red Caverns. The pipe from Castle #2 is going to lead to an overlook in the cave which acts a power up zone, and provides a hint to look for a switch palace to reach world 3.

As for the colour palette for the lake stage, I did a red sky to represent a sunset, but I suppose I can change it to be better on the eyes. Maybe change the colour of the mountains and clouds to match the red a bit better even.

Thanks for the feedback, I hope you enjoy it.

I have just released an update on the download page, revising pretty much all of the levels to have much better gameplay featured in them. The game has moved from version 1.00 to 1.01. Full patch notes are in the OP.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? I am new to the rom hacking community, currently working on my first project.

Not sure if this is allowed on SMW Central, but I would like to request if someone who composes a lot of Music for these hacks could do these two for me!

It would be greatly appreciated. I really want to put them in my hack, but they dont exist as of now :(

It is allowed to request music, but only if you do it in the respective thread. Make sure to read the rules, and also keep in mind that requesting something doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be done.

Ahh ok, sounds good. Sorry about that.

And yeah, didn't mean to sound demanding or anything if I did.

Are you referring to how they are inverted in comparison to how they show up on Lunar Magic? Is there a way to fix that ?

Quick question I would like to throw at the SMW Central community before attempting to add SA-1 to my romhack.

Do the minimalist status bars by Lalida work in conjunction with the SA-1 patch? I've heard some patches are not compatible, and I'd prefer to not ruin my work on the romhack right now.

Again, make a back-up because I haven't tested this out myself.

I will attempt this when I'm home to see if it works. Will let you know how it goes! Will I need to remove the original patch or just add the new one?

Thanks! You can try the demo and see how you like it (if you haven't already).

The user bar is made by Ladida (credits will be added in my next update for all custom items placed in the hack), and it may have been used in other hacks before. I just love the look of it because of how clean it is.

The final project will contain 8 primary worlds as well as 3 secret worlds. Level wise, I'm not 100% sure as of yet, but it is looking to include 62 stages and 70 exits total!

Hello everyone. The other day, I downloaded romi's spritetool to insert a number of different hammer bros. type enemies to my rom hack.

I added the bomb bros., as well as the bomb sprite through the correct insertion method:

Code
22 hammer_bro.cfg
23 boomerang_bro.cfg
24 boomerang.cfg
25 fire_bro.cfg
26 fireball.cfg
27 shell_bro.cfg
28 ice_bro.cfg
29 iceball.cfg
30 sledge.cfg
31 bomb_bro.cfg
32 bomb.cfg
33 molotov_bro.cfg
34 molotov.cfg

Anyways, I used the following graphics to patch the bros. graphics, which are compatible for the bomb bros.

The results for the bomb graphics are as seen in the image below:

I also attempted using the standard hammer bros. graphics included in the spritetool, which gave the same results (bros look correct, but the bombs still appear incorrectly).

Is there a separate exgfx i need to insert to make the bombs appear correctly? I assumed they were just part of the hammer bros. exgfx.

Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, molotov bros. do need graphics for their projectiles as well.

Anyways, I tried what you guys told me to do, and it worked! Only thing is I won't be able to include molotov and bomb bros. in the same stages, which is perfectly fine!

Thanks for the help!

Hello SMW Central,

ok I have been attempting to put this track into my rom hack via Addmusic K (latest version) for a while now, and it keeps saying that something is wrong with the track.

I understand this is something to do with it being a sampled track, but most of the sampled songs ive placed in my rom dont have this issue. Can anyone help me??

Additionally, I have placed this track as well, which actually worked. Problem is all of the sound effects change when the song plays in a level (into Yoshi's island sound effects). What is causing this?

UPDATE: Got SMG - Gusty Garden to display an error when using Addmusic K v1.04. Yes, this is for the SMW compatible txt file.
Does anyone know what the deal is?

Did you by chance try the SMW compatible version included in that SMG port? If you did and that still didn't work, look for a line inside the .txt that reads:
Code
$EF $FF $37 $37
$F1 $04 $BC $01

And change the $04 to $03. If that doesn't work either, keep lowering it.

As for the YI sound effects, I'm pretty sure it's because the .bnk replaces samples that many SFX use, with Yoshi's Island samples (i'm pretty sure its because jimmy is a huge yi nerd). Changing it back may be a little bit of work, however (totally doable and I could help you with that).

So i tried the fix you told me to do to the SMW compatible version. attempted to change the $04 to $03, $02, $01, and $00. None of them worked. Is there something I'm supposed to be doing to the file other than adding it to AMKGUI, and running it on the selected rom?

Also, I wouldnt mind your help for the other track!
