Actually, this provides a good spot for me to put the bugs I found while playing the demo:
There's so many coins that they've made cutoff in the bush. These would do better in another area that I will mention later.
Cutoff caused by note blocks. You should use ledgings on the ledges above and delete this dirt. Also, the Banzai Bill jump is actually easier than it looked.
THIS is where you should have those coins. Nobody likes a blind jump!
Squishable Goombas are cool, but remember to also apply the patch that fixes this graphical glitch caused by them.
I'm assuming you meant to add massages later, but you would want to change those before releasing another demo.
Um... how am I supposed to get that? Maybe the coin cloud should be higher up.
This 3-up moon is rediculously easy to get. Maybe a Yoshi Coin or a powerup would be better off up there.
Cutoff. Is the pit nessecary? This particular area is lacking foes for Mario to destroy!
The fish fall through the water when Sprite Buoyancy is not enabled (they fell to fast for me to even get a picture of one!) Click on the Lakitu head to edit this setting.
Again, blind jumps aren't very fun.
All in all, this level is okay, but it would be much better if these minor fixes are done in the next release. You may want to have people test your hack before you submit it (use My Files for an accessable place to put them for your testers!)
I would offer to beta test, but I am currently too busy with schoolwork to test.
I think you're talking about the NPC sprite. This one by ICB is the easiest to work with in my opinion. There's another one that uses the level's palette to tell the sprites where to get there messages from, but it's quite complicated compared to this one in my opinion.
You may want to work more on the plot before coming up with a name, that way it's easier to think of a name for the hack. "Lunar Trouble" does sound a bit off though, considering a good chunk of the game is going to be on Earth or whatever planet Mario hails from.
While that level is quite hard as a first level, it's a great level overall. However, one more thing that I notice is that the time limit is a little too low. That's the only thing I've noticed that no one else has though. Still, great job, and great music selection so far too!
...There will be approximately 36 weeks of school, 16 weeks of break.
That means 112 days off school, 252 days of school.
But how is it with the current plan? Will there be more days of school? Less?
What?!? 68 less days of school?? YES!!!
Actually, it would probably be less for me because my school is already a ways under after only 7 years of exsistance and the school district officials don't give a flying f*** about anything but their wallets and bank accounts (and lying, but that's besides the point), so I would probably have lots more time at home.
Also what DarkMark said. It's not really going to help or harm the majority of students, which are the ones who just sit there and don't even try to learn.
I've recently added ghettoyouth's squishable Goombas to my hack, but all they do is fall through the floor. Any idea what's going on? The only thing I've applied to the ROM as far as patches is the Pirhana Plant Fix patch (IPS version while the ROM was clean).
EDIT: I reinserted it after changing some stuff in Tweaker and now it causes the game to crash.
It's quite simple: If you rate a hack 3 out of 10 or lower, you have to write a review explaining your rating, or else the rating will be ignored.
Really, this isn't something that should take much matinence (remember; only ratings of 3 or lower). It takes only an average amount of common sense to tell if such a rating is not a downrate anyways, so even if it becomes a problem for the mods to maintain, there's no shortage of regular users who would gladly be able and willing to help.
Mario is to swearing as something even lighter like, say, Kirby is to blood, right? Well... many hardcore Kirby fans already know what I'm talking about, but in Kirby's Dreamland 3 & Kirby 64's true endings, the bosses 0 & 02 offer a fair amount of the red stuff (ok, maybe more than a fair amount comes from 0, considering it's two of his attacks). If you still need proof, view here (skip to 1:24) and here.
But going back to the main point, while stuff like "Aw, *&%$!!! The $&%$ @#$% just #^%@*& again! $&^% this $^*& #^%$^#*%$*!!!!!!!" is a bit much for anything more than very crude humor, swearing can be used as a tool for very serious situations. I mean, if most people were in the situation these characters were in, they would swear a whole lot more. So simply put, I feel it's alright in moderation (and with a warning in the hack detials).
Think about it. Which shows that the character of a villain more: crap, or the F word?
Depends on the villain! *shot*
[/sarcasm] Really it does though. A villain who wants to be "badass" would think that dropping F-bombs is cool (much like many of the 5th graders in my area). A calmer villan would be more likely to use crap instead.
Off topic: I think I won the cookie SyStemkraSh; I PM'd you my answer.
As far as true phobias, it's not needles themselves that get me, it's a fear of injection (Trypanophobia). I plain and simply fear the thought of someone injecting anything in me. It might be related to the firt painful shots I got at age 6, but I can't be certain.
I used to have a fear of heights, but after I conquered my fear of roller coasters, I don't mind them very much at all (though I always get that nagging feeling I'm going to fall).
