smwcentral iconWhen I used the level ender sprite(included with spritetool version 1.35), the music stopped playing on the overworld. I have a feeling the problem deals with these conditions:
A. The level ender sprite is custom sprite number zero and it's extra info number (the number that's next to the X on the sprite when I view Sprite Data (Hex Code)) is 3.
B. I used addmusic. The submap the level containing the sprite has a custom music.
I also have a feeling the reason the music stopped on the OV deals with addmusic. If this thread belongs in Basic or Noob SMW hacking, move it there.

You know, it would be cool if someone made a sword sprite(s) and released it to the public. That would help a lot of people........ Now that I think about it, that would be perfect for C3! (Not that I could program a sword sprite)
smwcentral iconO_O Should've seen that...Please close.

smwcentral iconIf you used the disable the item box patch or changed it in hex, it only affects the power-ups. An example is...my disable select and show power-up patch. When I disabled the item box, it didn't disable the patch. It only affects the codes you just listed. In other words, based on my experience with the "Disable Item Box" in the ROM Map, the "Disable Item Box" in the ROM Map won't affect the shop blocks.

smwcentral iconHow could I hack into a sprite's speed from an external source(using a sprite)? I know I could just change the speeds in the asm file but I mean a sprite that could make others go faster or slower... unless I have to use an xkas patch. (like ICB did for his boomy[the stun][I'm trying to make the copy ability system Kirby has, starting with the inhale])

smwcentral iconEdit:Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the sprite index $15E9?
Kaijyuu, what's the:

It seems there are rough waters ahead of me... :| Oh yeah, I am using a sprite for this. (like I originally planned[sprite clipping check is already set to check if sprite is touching this one])

smwcentral iconKaijyuu, how come in the start of your code there is LOOP all by itself? I just noticed that.
Code
SPRITE_INTERACT	    LDY #$0B                ;
                    LOOP
NEXT_SPRITE	    DEY                     ;
		    BPL LOOP ; ...otherwise, loop
		    RTS ; return
;(More code here)

smwcentral icon@ Doomdragon: I think that to fix your goomba problem, you would need to change the cfg type of the goomba disassembly to a tweaked sprite. (read on for my explanation) The goomba's carrying code is nullifyed by the patch because the goomba dies before the carry code activates I think. I've tested this by setting the goomba to stompable (by tweaker) and using the method I mentioned above. It should've mimicked the patch. (not graphic wise.)

smwcentral iconHow do you change the palette of a sprite? Specifically, how do you change a sprite's palette to palette D(green), palette A(yellow), and palette C(red) all using the second graphic page? (off-topic) I know, I'm a noob at aspects that only relate to custom sprites.

smwcentral iconI'm sorry, but I meant asm wise.

smwcentral iconYou have to go to Insert Manual.. under Edit(using sprite mode), input the command as the sprite's number(in this case D3), and put 2 or 3 in extra info. (to set extra bit or not. 3 is set, 2 is that its a custom sprite) Add anything you want in the other 2 boxes. Then you try it out. Instead of always going to the Insert Manual under Edit, you could just press Insert on your keypad.

smwcentral iconAs I walked around Fly Guy street near dark, a leaflet flew at my face. I grabbed it and stared at it for a few seconds:
NEW at Fly Guy Street! Casa del Schwa is now open! Its right front you!
I turn around and I see my favorite place to hang out. The Fly Guy Show Off Caffee. I read the leaflet again, but this time, it said:
Casa del Schwa is now open! Go inside the NEW Workshop already! It has beverages! FYI: Its right behind you!
I then turned around and went in, wondering how the leaflet sprite was coded. As I imediately found out, it was jinxed. Casa del Schwa only served coffee. :( It had a soothing flow of stories, so I decided to stay and tell my tale off my normal day, walking down Fly Guy Street.
(Edit:)
*Looks at sign on the door and says:*
I guess I don't come for the sprites or stay for the coffee. *takes a sip from a bottle of ice flower shake*

smwcentral iconI get struck with a sudden but quick act of bravery while hearing others' stories and such. I run to the counter, but see Schwaa walk into this super locked door. I spot a paper and pencil, so I write down:
May I, a novice spriter request a job here at Casa del Schwa?
The paper is set on top of a white round thing with a mysterious black hood at the counter. A bit later, Ling called a security guard to bring me to the counter.
The sad shy-guy asks me, "What is the meaning of that? Putting a sprite request form on top of my head?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't know it was a sprite request form and I didn't realize I set it on your head!" *grabs the sprite form while Ling isn't looking, hides it, writes the message on the proper form, puts it back on the counter, and runs back to the seat.*

smwcentral icon*Looks at folders* I can't believe I am so inexperienced at sprite creation! :( So far, I haven't the guts to make a sprite of my own... I'll just leave. I shall take some coffee to go. Takes out incomplete mod. of Super Mario Land sub, fills it with coffee, and teleports to the creations that should be meant to be.

smwcentral iconWell, you have to add a bit more code to the sprite. Try:
Code
ObDet:
LDA $1588,x
AND #$03
BEQ NotTouchingSide
STZ $B6,x
NotTouchingSide:
LDA $1588,x
AND #$08
BNE TouchingPartofObject
LDA $1588,x
AND #$04
BNE TouchingPartofObject
RTS
TouchingPartofObject:
STZ $AA,x
RTS
I think that's how the code has to be. I didn't test it yet. Put JSR ObDet after the speed is set and put this part of code completely isolated from the routines.(in above or below codes)

smwcentral iconA puff of smoke appears in front of Casa del Skwaa. Hi! What's going on? *listens around* Oh. Well, mistakes don't just happen to people that are starters at asm programming. It happens to everyone. You might not have done anything wrong and discovered a glitch(es), have one grammatical mistake in a symbol(s) name(s), a mistake in opcode(s) or more than one of the above. No one's perfect. It happens all the time with me. A puff of smoke envelops me and I'm gone.

smwcentral iconI finally finished my custom timer sprite. The timer patch needs a little more polishing to do. For one thing, I don't know how to check if the player is entering a level from the overworld. I would also like to disable the timer from the patch. May someone help? After I complete the timer, I'd like to submit it or put it here.
Edit: What is a hex to dec routine? I tried makng a custom timer, but when the time reaches 10 minutes, the 10s digit frame graphic glitches up, going over 60. (to 69, to be exact)
Where can I find a tutorial for hacking the status bar? or How do you hack the status bar?

smwcentral iconb.radom, that code is fairly simple. here's the code:
Code
LDA $19 ;checks power-up
BNE Blank ;If not small, make current block act like air
LDA $187A ;If riding yoshi, make current block act like air
BNE Blank
RTS
Blank:
LDY #$00 ;makes block act like air
LDA #$25
STA $1693
RTS
Make sure the block acts like the door you want to change. In this case, put the custom block over the doors.

smwcentral iconSo, what does storing to $0EF9-$0F42 do? I know it is the tilemap, but which byte does what? How would you turn these RAM addresses into a counter or something?
