Considering the amount of time this is taking, I'm thinking we could wait until the first one is released and some people have started to beat it in videos or something! Let us not get ahead of ourselves!
Wow, this is going fast!

Show Fresno what's for, unknown!
We where discussing before if there was a way to make the 'last level' locked until you beat all the normal stages, is that still within the relm of the possible?
Oh seriously? Dang, J is gone for a week or so.

All I know is that two levels require something like a 'pink room' or something. Geez :(

Maybe it'd be simplest to reserve one submap for the crazy last level unlocking path though, since there's a lot of levels, that'll require a lot of room! Also it'll ensure you can't cheat with the airship!
Well, yes, they are 'one level'.

What I'm saying is that I think we have over 20 'normal levels', so if it's a bridge or something that you uncover bit by bit by beating the normal levels, we might need a bit of space in order to fit all these 'unlockable segments'

'sides, I think it's pretty epic to give an entire submap to ONE level! It's like woah!
That's another one of his common account names, yeah.

At least, I always refer to him as such in my videos, and that side of the crowd knows whom I'm talking about.
I'm also kinda disapointed with J's recent infatuation with glitch/trick based difficulty rather then... you know, level design based difficulty.

Though he told me that he wants that to be 'apart' from the rest of the hack, like, it's not necessary for progress.

edit: wow, finally, I think I found that 'thing' that makes me annoyed at certain hard hack and not at others (I loved playing the houtai series and they're pretty dumb with their difficulty): trick vs design. Tss.

Actually, if we do this, I'm all for it, and J can do whatever the hell he wants with that level.

I mean, to me it makes sense. After you beat the game, it's just that last psychological push that says 'oh hey wait here is a thing because you are so awesome'.

And since it's at the very very very penultimate end, us normal people don't have to bother if we don't want to.

edit---

Okay, okay, okay. Listen to this.

The game goes as normal. You beat all the regular levels. You get to the 'last world' and beat it. You beat the custom boss, and everything makes you think you finally won the game.

But when the screen fades away, you return to a completely new submap. There is nothing, completely black, no music. Only a piece of star world, and a single, yellow dot. If you take the star world, you return to the original starting position with no way back. And the single yellow dot is 'the' level.

Of course, the only way we can make this 'work' is to hope not too many people read this, and not to allude to this AT ALL in the readme file.

So we'd have a final kick in the pants, but completely optional for, again, us normal people.

edit2---

I may be overstepping my boundaries, but said final secret optoinal level has to have a name like 'CONGRATULATIONS :D' or something!

Why would there be no way back? What if that level has a save prompt when you beat it, and you use savestates there? You would never again be able to play the other levels.

No, I meant no way back to that one submap if you leave it via the star portal. It gives us the ability to be all dramatic and go 'I'M NOT PLAYING THIS LEVEL EVER AGAIN' *returns to the main overworld*

Then sucks to be you?

I love it when games have things which are inpermanent, and I just think it'd be awesome.

Consider 'not being able to return because you want to play it again' yet another more subtle pants-kick (and anyone that plays this will have rewinds, so there's no 'immediate' danger there)
Ahh, I would have liked something theatric, but I'll take what I can.

As long as nothing mentions that said level is supposed to be stupid hard and it has a welcoming name. But yeah, a level after the credit level would suit fine.
yayy!!

I knew it was possible, as TSRPR does it with Thirdspace.
I'm all for it IF we can do that in a reasonable amount of time ONLY.

Because, man, we're like practically there, no?
Can we have a recap on what has to be done?

right now- completing the overworld (from the pictures I'd say we're what, halfway there?)
- engineer that little 'end game' situation with superultimatestupidhardland
- send it over to Maxx for asm trickery
-...?
Considering most the levels probably use vanilla graphics, I thought it'd be fine to use the regular overworld sprites... I mean, they're perfectly useable, no? I thought the overworld looked pretty cool as is!
I want to do Rise to the Challenge (and I already got AxemJinx's approbation and everything), so there's plenty of time.

(which I can't patch because all of them take up 105.)

I take it that if for some reason we decide it's a good idea to make Hard Pack 2: The Sequel, we should go the vip way and 'reserve' level numbers, huh? It's kinda too bad about that particular extra step.

uNkNowNeRRoR5642, great job on the overwrold, but since this the hard level contest, shouldn't you make the overworld palette darker and less friendly?

I figured the hack was going the whole 'ironic' road.
I will take that dare!

While eating breakfast no less!

In fact, unknownerror, I dare YOU to show us the overworld!
