Politics are stupid. The world would be a better place if we all just chose our leaders based on their SMW hacking ability.
Hey dinguses! I'm new here, so ... hi, I guess. Mario and SMW in particular have always interested, so I'm excited to be here.

Animation is brutal -- I can't draw at all, but my skill with animation is even worse than that somehow. You must be super talented to be able to do that Have you completed any works yet?

Music is always fun, and so are video games, of course! What instruments do you play?
I gotta say, competitive mode is one of the most rage-inducing things I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I'm currently at rank 49 (aka ELO hell) and it seems nigh-arbitrary how much rank one loses or gains after a game. It sucks.
That is for people more well-versed in the field of political science than me to figure out.

How bout ISIS is locked in an anechoic chamber with an active denial system aimed at them so they feel pain without injury while being solitary confined in a soundproof room. Also in said room is an SNES console hooked up to a TV, and in the SNES is a physical copy of Item Abuse 3. They'll only be able to escape once they beat Item Abuse 3 on the console, which means no tool abuse.
If they somehow manage to beat the game, the 'letting them out' thing is a ruse.
The question is, how do we fit all of ISIS into one room? With every solution comes more problems, but I *do* think that we're on to something here.
There's gotta be some context to that photo. From the little that I know about UK politics, he's essentially a British Donald Trump, but surely even he knows that it's political suicide to have a picture like that floating around the internet.

Hey all,
I'm new to hacking and want to create a Metroidvania-type deal which abuses exits and the ability for pipes and whatnot to whisk the player from one level to the next. The only problem is that if a player is currently on 105, takes a pipe to 106, and dies in 106, the player will respawn on the overworld at the location of 105. Is it possible to do some finagling with the exits and overworld to allow a player who dies on a certain level to be plopped onto that level's overworld marker and restart from the entrance of that level?
Sorry if that didn't make any sense, but I just had a long day and I tend to ramble.
Thanks,
Gravitas
And you're saying that this dingus just got himself a position as the foreign secretary of the UK? A position which requires diplomatic abilities and rational thinking?
I feel bad for you Brits.

In other, less political news, it's almost Friday / already Friday, depending on where you live! What are the weekend plans of you all (at times like these I really wish that English had a proper second person plural pronoun)? Anything that you're looking forward to?
Apparently you're not alone, MercuryPenny: https://www.quora.com/Why-do-hardboiled-eggs-smell-like-sulfur
There's some chemistry and whatnot involved. On a related note: does anybody else think that deviled eggs are one of the greatest foods ever known to humankind?

I haven't, but I can draw super fast, so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard for me.
Ah, that makes sense. Let me tell you, I have ridiculous respect for visual artists. Good luck chasing your art dreams!
I dunno, in Smash Stock FFAs, the first person to get knocked out has to sit around and wait for the next match too. I just think that it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I love this color -- mellow but soothing. I use it as my terminals' background color on my Linux box.

You shouldn't feel dumb -- that was some smart thinking that you did to solve that problem! As for the self-confidence hit -- you're experiencing Impostor Syndrome, which is ridiculously common among programmers. You do deserve to be where you are, in a large part due to your self-awareness -- having Impostor Syndrome is a sign that you're not Joe Shmoe who thinks that he's the greatest programmer ever and isn't willing to improve.
Hey all,
I'm just wondering what your opinions are on level length. What would be your ideal level length, and does this ideal change based on whether the level is standalone/a part of a larger hack?
So basically, aim for a 2-minute-or-so level? Got it. Now to find out how to use checkpoints in conjunction with sublevels...
EDIT: It looks like there's a patch for that. Bad if I want to enter any VLDCs in the future, but good for nigh-all other scenarios.
Hey all,
Are there any objects/sprites that can trigger an event in the overworld? I have a vague memory of pressing a switch in a level which triggered a path to open up, but allowed me to continue the level in the original SMW, but this might be a false recollection. I'd prefer being able to do so sans ASM, but if it's my only option I'll gladly use it.
