Hi to all.
This will be my first post on the forum. I have tried to search the forum but I don't see a search feature.
I have enjoyed some of the SMW hacks on this forum and I want to thank you all for the time and effort some of you have dedicated.

I do my playing on Emulation station (retropie) so far I have played a few games with no problem. I have not been able to play any of the VLDC's I know some have asked similar questions. But Why can I play some Hacks like (return to dinosaur land) and not the VLDC? I have read that it has to do with snes9X. Is there an effort that I can collaborate to make these hacks compatible?

Retropie does have snes9x but my version must be newer than the one that VLDC's are using or so I read. I will post the version later but must be 1.51 or over. Anyhow I have played other hacks from here that were done after VLDC9 was done and those run well on retropie.

I have always loved Mario since Super Mario Bros. 3
Retropie has lead me here although I don't see much talk about it. I am good with drawings and digital editing. I don't know where to start rom hacking but I will be glad to help if anyone needs help with sprites and backgrounds while I learn to hack. If there is a Retropie sections here please lead me that way. Thanks for all the resources, tutorials and hacks.
I am trying to swap Mario with different sprite set (mega man x) Mega man X sprites are 16X16 and to fluidly animate movement it uses more sprite sets. How can I call this extra frames on ASM. As for now I have drawn X in smaller size and it works. animation is a bit quirky but is decent. Mario's walking animation requires 4 different sprites whereas X walking animation requires 11 sprites I could maybe cut down to 8 sprites but, is there a way to fully incorporate the complete sprite set?

You knew exactly what I was going for. I will see if it can be done and even thou I am not familiar with ASM you have given me exactly what I was looking for. I will give it a try if not then I will just keep the poses but use different stripes. One more thing. How can I include images on my post?

Purpose: character sprite (mega man x)

Description: 32x32 tiles

Can anyone help me bring mega man x sprites to Mario world rom?
Mega man sprites are 32x32 and marios are 16x32. I tried drawing them but because the size difference I couldn't get them nearly as good looking as the original mega man x. There is a patch that makes marios tiles 32x32 but I do not know how to add that patch to a rom. That would work for me if I have to draw mega man x tiles one by one over the corresponding animation poses. If anyone knows how to insert the sprites with the correct animations easier than my method please let me know. My ultimate goal is to have a mega man x game that can be customizable like what has been done here to super mario world.
