Tip: By pressing Shift while placing event tiles, they will be made "silent" and will not appear until a map transition happens. Always use silent event tiles to draw paths in other maps (i.e. a Vanilla Dome event while the player is on the main map), or glitchy tiles may appear.
I have tried my best to find the answer to this but I can't find anyone even talking about it. I have been making some of my own changes to the original game (character recolors, luigi sprite switch, etc.) I want to do these four things
1. Edit the text when you beat Bowser. I want to change it to include Luigi ie Mario and Luigi's adventure is over. (or something along those lines)
2. Add player 2 to the ending sequence when they are walking so that Mario and Luigi are there like in the GBA version
3. Change some of the text for the enemy names that happen after the credits.
4. I want to be able to add a Toad NPC to the bonus stages and final cutscene if thats possible. I am having time finding graphics and custom sprites.
Hey thanks for the help. That worked perfectly. I changed the text to "Your adventure is over. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and his friends are going to take a vacation." I also found a way to add a Toad NPC on this site but it screws with other graphics so I'm not gonna worry about it. Bugs me he's not in the game though lol. Anyway thanks again.
I am trying to simply modify the original game to include things that I always felt were missing. I want to add a few more Yoshi Houses along the games path. I also want to alter Yoshi's original house to include some other sprites. I know messing with level 104 will screw with the credits scene so I figured if I just copy the level's contents I could just make a new level and link it to the first Yoshi house on the overworld map. The problem I have is I am new to this and dont know how to simply copy the yoshi house level into a new level. I also cant figure out how to add additional levels to the rom that can be accessed from the overworld map. I don't want to take any levels out of the game, I just want to add 2 or three more for yoshi houses. Is this possible and would anyone be able to help point me in the right direction?
I'm almost at where I want to be with my hack. Just need a couple more things that I can't seem to find answers to.
1. I want to put a Ludwig styled mini boss in bowsers castle. I plan on using bowser jr graphics from mario maker. Does anyone know how to do this? I still want ludwig in castle 4 but make bowser jr fight after you make it through the cost set of doors in bowsers castle.
2. When you get yoshi wings is there a way to disable him from changing into blue yoshi?
I'm trying to add a mini boss to the existing bowser's castle in smw. I want to have it so you fight boom boom after the second wave of doors and before you get to the area with the disco ball, ninjis, and mecha koopas. I need the boom boom to spawn a door instead of the exit level sphere it shoots out when it's defeated. Does anyone know how to do this? I don't know a lot about coding so I need a stupid person answer if thats possible please.
So I found an NPC sprite on here and there is a part of the instructions i don't understand. It says for levels over 24 you must subtract DC from the level number. For example 105 would be 29. My question is what exactly is DC? I know it might be a dumb question but I can't seem to figure it out. My brains logic says that DC would = 76 but I'm finding that doesn't hold true when applied to levels without number digits.
I would like an easier way to edit the credits cutscenes. IE where mario is walking with peach and the yoshi eggs and then the scene at yoshi house. I'd like to be able to add characters but have no idea where to even start.
I'm still getting the hang of hacking and was wondering what I would need to change in a sprites asm to have it read the graphics in a different slot on the graphics page. An example would be very helpful
I kind of asked this before but I'll get more to the point. I'm trying to get Carols Boom Boom sprite to work for me. I know I have to remove the code to start the boss music and the code to play the victory music. It works for the most part but the problems I'm having are that I want the mario 3 boss fight music to activate when boom boom starts attacking. I tried to just start mario in the room with him but boom boom won't activate at all on the first screen. I put him on the second screen with the boss music already playing bit he also won't activate unless you approach him. The idea there was to just have him already attacking when you enter the room. I really want that music to start when he begins attacking and I can't figure it out. Also when he dies he spawns the orb that will end the level. I don't want him to end the level. I want him to spawn a door that will lead back to the level itself since I am making him a mini boss in bowsers castle. I am still learning ASM so if anyone could help with this you have no idea how greatful I would be.
I noticed while working on my hack that Bowser is now lagging in the fight. Whenever he goes to fly off screen, comes toward the camera, and returns there is a very noticeable pause during transitions. I tried to expand my rom but that didn't help. I havent done anything to the bowser fight in a while so I have no idea what might have caused this. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I appreciate the help. I think it kinda worked. Everything assembled alright. Still a noticeable pause but not as bad. I dont suppose you have any other suggestions? Like is there a better tool to use than AddmusicK? I tried the Romi one but it needs me to bring up my computers command prompt but for whatever reason my computer wont let me use it.
