I am having a problem with bloocktool and spritetool and hope someone could help. Every time I use blocktool too insert a block I downloaded off the web and entered information for, It would just say:
"I/O error 32" any help? With spritetool, I do everything it says, no errors, then I insert the sprite number on sprites.txt into the ROM and It doesn't do squat. I think I may be inserting the wrong sprite, but how and why? With addmusic (I use made easy) I do what it says and then It just quits. Can anybody help me? -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

I, personally, would like to make some Alternate ExGFX (ExGFX that work with SMW's origonal MAP16) I have found only one of them so far. That way, When you make a level, but forget to use ExGFX, you are covered. And also, You can make levels more easily with regualr objects then with MAP16 most of the time.

While we're on buttons, I have a question.
In ZSNES, I can only input 2 buttons/pad inputs at a time. I want to be able to do as many as I want. Can anyone tell me how I can do so? It might just be my keyboard/drivers, but I'm not sure. -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

Here's a tough one. When using YY-chr, I do not know how to open or modify .ADF (pattern) files. I have the feeling it is in the vein of making a 1bpp file and saving it as a .ADF, but so far I have found nothing. All programs capable of viewing/editing .ADF files try to run them as commodore 64 files and have an error. Any ideas? I'll keep experimenting.

I think you will need a clean ROM. I patched a clean ROM with a couple hacks and nothing happened to the overworld.

Lunar magic doesn't support my ROM!
I did some hex editing to my ROM, and I changed a couple pallet and physics values, as well as renaming the ROM header to Ssaamm land. I think this may be the cause of it. I tried setting it back to super mario world but it didn't work. Does anybody know the real header name of super mario world? I opened the ROM in zsnes, but In ZSNES, you can't see capitalization. Any help? -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

It works!
Also, (so I don't need a new thread) I got the custom coins block, but touching the coin freezes the game. :/ Anybody know how to fix this? -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

These are 25 things that will make your hack boring, annoying, and stupid. If you have any of these things in your hack, fix them as soon as possible.
25.Setting the time to high or low Nobody likes to rush through levels. A time limit too low makes it so that you cannot
The only time your time should be low is in a level where that is the main gimmick. But setting the time limit too high turns a platforming adventure into a leisurely stroll. And that is only good for areas that are not intended to be challenging, like yoshi's house or peach's castle. Usually, the right time limit is your average time plus 100, according to the tip bar. 24. Needing a P-switch or spring board in a place far away from the original area that it was in. This makes the player have to backtrack, or even redo the level. It is only a good idea for hiding secrets. Even telling the person in advance can still make them have to backtrack, so never do this. [I will continue to work on this periodically until I get to one] -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

A couple questions...
1. Which tile editor 2. In a new file? 3. Why on MS paint and not in the editor itself? 4. What does it look like? -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

Here are the settings you should have:
4BPP SNES, normal. Also, did you insert the graphics into the ROM after extracting the graphics? -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

Uhhh...
Do you mean to say that you tried using a super mario land patch on super mario world? Or is that just a typo? You should probably patch a copy of the ROM. -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

I think you are making unnecessary limitations for yourself. Most things you will do in your hack will work, and if they don't, then you still don't need to make a new thread about it. Just look in the FAQ or lunar magic help file.

Do you want to know how to use it?
You need lunar IPS or Xkas for that. Just go to the n00b hacking section and look at the Xkas tutorial after getting Xkas, or simply patch your ROM with lunar ips. -------------------- When you use binary as a level, nobody knows what level you are! *laughs manically* |

keep in mind, some things are still unsafe, so copy (back up) your ROM every so often.
