Tip: If it's possible to carry a tileset-specific sprite (such as a Buzzy Beetle or Bob-omb) through a pipe, make sure it has the correct graphics and sprite palette on the other side! Not logged in.

Super Mario World Returns Ex:

I really need help with this one because I just cannot figure it out for the life of me. In the first stage in the forest map (the one in the title screen demo), on the last screen, how do I get to the key and the keyhole? I've looked everywhere I could possibly think of for an ON/OFF switch block, and I can't find one anywhere.

Hitting one in a previous level doesn't work, because those blue blocks at the end are still filled in.
Alright...here's my situation:

I've imported some BG ExGFX into a ROM, and I click the red poison mushroom and I select it from BG1's drop-down menu. Then I press F3 on the Map16 page 12. Now here's where I'm at my wits' end.

I open the background editor, I select a BG tile from page 12, but when I right click on the background editor, it tells me that that tile isn't within the current BG Map16 page.

The only way it will let me paste the tiles is if I import the ExGFX into page 10, but if I do that, I screw up the ROM's background graphics everywhere else.

So how am I supposed to use BG ExGFX if it won't work for me?

I've noticed on the Hack Removal thread that some hacks have been rejected for having the red "Spiny" Buzzy Bettles (in other words, the red Beetles that hurt you when you jump on them, since they're basically glitched Spinies), but yet Anikiti's hacks can get away with using them and they get praised left and right.

A little clarity would be appreciated, because I find this just a bit weird.
Well, I have no idea when Luigi's Adventure or Mario X World were submitted, but I guess that explains it. Thanks.

That is, what GFX file do I have to open in YY-CHR?
I was actually talking about the "MARIO A," "MARIO B," and "MARIO C" in the title screen. GFX32 doesn't have that font.
Thanks for the help, guys. This thread can be closed/deleted now. :)
I am yet another person working on a hack where Luigi is the star character. I know how to change "Mario Start" to "Luigi Start" and I know how to replace the "Mario" status bar tiles with "Luigi" and I've used the Misc Text Editor and Thank You Message Importer to remove all other traces of Mario's name.

There's just one more thing. This isn't important, because I'm set to go as is, but I'm curious anyway. I've used the Luigi ExGFX in the ExGFX section on a backup ROM as an experiment, and each one of them makes the berries glitch, so I'm just wondering if there's any way to fix this without messing up Luigi's graphics.

Again, I could just change Mario's palette and use that, but answers would be appreciated.
@ Mr. Taximan: That GFX file didn't change anything.

@ link13: I don't have or use xkas, so no, but there's an ExGFX file that replaces Mario with the SMA2:SMW Luigi graphics, but it messes up the berries (I know they're not that important, but still, they're good for decoration).
Wait, hold the phone. I managed to get A Yoshi's Luigi GFX to work. Basically I replaced the SMA2 Luigi GFX with the Luigi's Adventure Luigi GFX and I still somehow kept the other graphics even after clicking Insert GFX to ROM.

So that one works and it doesn't seem to mess anything else up.

My apologies if the above sounded confusing. Long story short, I believe I've fixed the problem. Thank you muchly anyways, guys.
