So I just started using Lunar Magic the other day, and after about 3 hours of tutorials I'm sort of starting to understand it. What I don't understand at all though is how to patch asm files. I have asar and I've tried to patch 2 asm files so far and neither of them have worked. The first one was the patch to remove "Mario Start" at the beginning of the level to replace it with the Yoshi's Island level intro, and the second is the retry system patch. Asar said there was an error applying the first patch and that there's no RAM available for the retry system. I have looked at the patching tutorial and I'm still so lost and confused. Could someone help me either learn how to properly and asm files or tell me if I'm an idiot and I'm doing this all wrong?
Ok thank you that worked.
Selecting retry with the system brings me to level 0 when using the internal emulator.
I'm new to SMW hacking and I have no idea how to get those blocks that are solid for everything except Mario. Are they already in the game or are they custom blocks or something?
Does anyone know where to get the custom block that is solid for everything except Mario?

Mario:
	LDY #$01
	LDA #$30

print "Passes everything but Mario."

Likewise, there is the opposite version:
Code
db $37
JMP Return : JMP Return : JMP Return
JMP Sprite : JMP Sprite : JMP Return : JMP Return
JMP Return : JMP Return : JMP Return
JMP Return : JMP Return

Sprite:
	LDY #$01
	LDA #$30
	STA $1693|!addr
Return:
RTL

print "Passes everything but sprites."

Both blocks should act like tile 0x25

Ok so how exactly do I use this? Do I need to make this code into an asm? I really don't know much about this stuff...
I'm trying to use YY-CHR but the text is all garbled. I already tried renaming the language files to English (even though they were already in English) and nothing has happened. Can someone help me with this?

How exactly are you renaming them? If I recall correctly, what you need to do is change the file extension from .ENG to .ENU. (Or possibly something else if you're not from the US.)

I renamed it to both .ENG and .ENU and nothing happened.

EDIT: I transferred the files to another computer and it works fine now. Must have just been the computer I was using.

So I got custom castle graphics for my hack, but it only worked on level 78, and there as a file included with it to change that level into a castle. The problem is, I can't get the screen to scroll horizontally. I went to the area to change the number of screens in the level from 1 to however many but nothing happened. I have a pipe entrance and I tried putting the pipe in between 2 screens and it let me scroll as much as I wanted. Then I closed Lunar Magic and opened it later and it wasn't working again. I'm still very new to Lunar Magic so I'm not very good at troubleshooting problems.
The title sort of says it all. I'm making a WW2 themed hack for a school project and I want to change the mushrooms that Peach throws to bob-ombs (to represent the bombs the U.S. dropped in Japan). I have no idea how to change the mushroom, but I've seen it done before. I don't know if there's a really easy way to do it because I have almost no knowledge in anything slightly complicated.
