I think in about 1993, we got an SNES for Christmas, with about 15 games in it, like SMW, and LoZ: ALttP, and a few sports games and some based on shows like Tiny Toons. SMW was easily the household favorite, and everyone in the house played it.
Periodically, we would rent a few games, and I remember watching my brother play FF4 and Chrono Trigger (both were rented) and tried them for myself. I was like 5 when I played CT, and remember getting stuck in 1000 AD after you come back from 600, but I was 5 at the time. XD We bought SMRPG and Yoshi's Island when they came out, and they became more household favorite.
I introduced my parents to Kirby Super Star, and that became another game we played all the time (but my sister didn't like it...) Kirby became my favorite Nintendo mascot after I played Kirby 64 (my first Kirby game) simply because - how can you hate a pink, smiling blob that flies around and eats people, all the while being an adorable little creature? <(-^_^-)>
When the Pokémon craze was big, I got a Game Boy Pocket with Blue version. I still play the games periodically, but never got a DS to play D/P. I stopped at Sapphire version. My G/S/C's were shiny magnets, but I never found a single one in Sapphire.
We also had a Genesis (I don't remember when), an N64 (in '96) and a PS1 ('97) with FF7. We had lots of Sonic, a few miscellaneous platformers, and Warsong - a really fun strategy game (it was called Langrisser 1 in Japan.) FFT was also a great game.
I got into World of Warcraft, played for about 1 1/2 years, had a level 60 warlock, but I quit after the expansion hit. Aah, the funniest thing was that alliance PUG's raided MC more skillfully than my old horde raiding guild. (No, I played on a PvP server, but I transferred my old 60 to play with friends on alliance. It's frustrating to level on a PvP server sometimes, but in the end, more fun than PvE.)
The newest system we have is a PS2... we MIGHT get a 360 for my sister, because she wants to play Call of Duty with her friends.
The Genesis controllers ceased to work in 2001, and only a year after we got a copy of FF4 (in 2005), the SNES wouldn't run any game past the title screen, except DKC, but it froze after you begin scrolling in a level. But there's always emulation!
Der Langrisser, however, is my favorite game, and I was very happy when the English translation came out. (Still learning Japanese at my own pace. Our school doesn't offer a class for it.) Kanji is hard to read, because I only know hiragana and katakana, and very few kanji symbols. D:
Needless to say, RPG's, strategy games, and platformers are my favorite. Driving games are okay, too. However, I can't bring myself to play first-person shooters, because it makes me feel guilty for some reason, although I know it's not real.
tl;dr version: It all started with an SNES. I've been playing games since I was 2, and they've always been a relaxing pasttime.
Just look above you...

If that doesn't work, try editing the player tilemap with Tile Layer Pro. Extract the graphics from your ROM, and keep a backup of them just in case you don't like what you see and want the old graphics back.
Then, in Tile Layer Pro, go to file, open, go to the Graphics folder, click on "All files" to let you pick binary ones, and you should see GFX 00-33. You can edit the player tilemaps directly in there, frame by frame, and I think it's easier this way. Overworld Mario is in GFX10, and in-level Mario tiles are in GFX32. I hope that helped a little.

I like the idea of Ninja Mario, and the switch palace puzzle looks interesting. Is there a secret wall? Fake coins? It looks pretty fun, and I'm hoping there will be more puzzles that are that perplexing. However, I have a little constructive criticism... (Not a flame)
This is reminiscent to Yoshi's Island 4...
...and this also seems like an edit of Wendy's Castle. I could be wrong and it could only be those screens that look the same, but I thought I'd point that out. It's best to start each level from scratch, just in case you didn't.
Also, it's just my opinion, but I think you shouldn't leave the "I like men" thing in there, because it's immature, and probably irrelevant to the plot D:
The only other concern I have is the background palette for the switch palace. Yellow is close to blue's complementary, orange, and colors close to their complementaries tend to 'fight' against each other. Yellow is also 'warm' so it makes the background come out more than the foreground, so it looks a little awkward... *is an art nerd*
The rest of it looks pretty good. There are no graphical glitches, the layout is smooth... I think this project will go far. ^_^
(EDIT: Changed an error about color aesthetics. Glad no one else saw that mistake! >_<)

I've had this PC for under a year and never had malware. Unfortunately, I've had to replace mice.
Mouse #1: Ball mouse. It got to the point where it would only move to the right, no matter how much you clean it. It lasted about 4 months.
Mouse #2: Optical mouse. It lasted about 2 months then died. The retailer said it was defective.
Mouse #3: Another optical mouse. It has triple-click syndrome that won't go away, and it's *terribly* annoying. This is the one I'm using now, and I got it about two weeks ago.
Other than that, the 512 MB of RAM my computer came with isn't that great, but I don't play WoW anymore, so it's hardly a problem anymore. I guess I'm lucky XD

I registered here a while ago, but forgot to introduce myself. I'm Kyoseron, but you can call me Kyo. I spend my free time working on my FF6/SMW/SFII hacks, but have kept them in secret. I like to hand-sew, write stories, and draw. I also like to lurk around forums because they're entertaining (and sometimes informative) to read. I happened to like what I saw here, so I registered.
I'm a bit of an otaku, but not extreme to the point of watching only fansubs and throwing Japanese words into every sentence. My favorite animé is Full Metal Alchemist, and I have yet to see the movie. The truth is, I'll watch pretty much any animé as long as it's not overly grotesque. >_>
For video games, I play strategy, role-playing, platformers, and a little bit of everything else, but I hate hate HATE first-person shooters. ^_^"
On another note, I've been busy with school, so I don't have a lot of time to work on my SMW hack or talk to people. I'll be happy to help when I get the chance.
I'm a bit paranoid about how people perceive things, so I try to be direct in communication. For example, I have to say, "This is constructive criticism, not a flame," since I know sometimes that's how I take constructive criticism. It's hard to tell what people really mean. Not just on the internet, either.
I also have the tendency to type a lot, but I hardly ever talk in real life.
...Is it weird for a teenager to enjoy sewing? >_<

1. (Latias in Ruby)
Yes, technically, but there was only ONE legit way. I think it's called the Eon Ticket, and it was an e-card event from *I think* a Nintendo Power magazine. It was the same for Latios in Sapphire. You couldn't just use an AR/GS to get the Eon Ticket, because having the item alone won't activate the event. If the event is active, take the boat from Lilycove to Southern Island. The Lati@s there will be holding a Soul Dew, unlike its sibling which flies around the map after you beat the E4.
You can't get the Eon Ticket anymore, so in current times, the answer is no. There was a way to get a legit Latias in Ruby, but not now.
My memory is a little foggy since I haven't played Sapphire version in over a year now :/
[EDIT: I JUST remembered... it's called an e-reader. D'oh!)

Honestly, there's nothing "bad" about it, if it's the layout. It's not choppy. In a few spots, the palette bothered me, and some parts just looked like the original levels, and that's what I think he meant by "bad." I wouldn't call it bad, though.
You said you did the levels from scratch, so I'll believe it, unless when I test it I find that the levels are the same in more spots. If it's a big game, then SOME obstacles are bound to look a little like the old ones.
Another thing: I'm a bit lost. Am I suddenly a he? Or was that directed at LuigivsKoopa? I'm confused D:
@Bored2tears: I pointed out the Yoshi's Island 4 "edit" in my first post. He said he started from scratch, but maybe he didn't delete the layer 3 and that platform makes it look like YI4 in that part... No need to argue, though... just... saying... ^_^"
I hope I could clarify to the rest of the people in this post. (ARGH! Why do I have to make this so complicated?)
EDIT: Beaten. See, I type too much.

Extract the graphics using Lunar Magic, then load the GFX files (in the Graphics folder, 00-33)into TLP/YY-CHR, then view them under SNES format.
If you want to experiment, then use joined GFX to get AllGFX.bin, and whatever changes you make to that won't show up in the game in you insert changes in that file only, but you can get a feel for what it's like. Make backups, too, in case you don't like what you see and want to start over. Changes only show up in files 00-33.
I hope this helped.

In the 16x16 tile editor (full ? block), go down to a page where you have the ExGFX. For each one, click Edit 16x16 attributes and change what it acts like. For example, 130 is a solid block, 25 is a blank tile, 20 and 1F are parts of a door, etc. If you're not sure what a number does, check the tiles above (but don't change pages 0-2) to make sure they're the ones you want.

I have one request, but it's not completely urgent since I'm going to be working on my hack for a while (maybe won't be done for about a year), and anyone who feels like it can do this one. It's Decision Bell from Seiken Densetsu 3.
It can easily be trimmed and looped, so size shouldn't be an issue in the end, and there are few enough channels for it to work.
http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/SD3_-_Decision_Bell.mid
Thanks in advance. If it's not possible, then that's fine too.
*Slightly off-topic: Also, I agree with FPI. That sounds awesome, KilloZapit! It's very true to the original.
EDIT: Thanks, S.N.N.! It still sounds fine. With SMW instruments, it's not like it could get any closer to the original. (I chose to edit because it would be pretty spammy to just post thanks)

I've seen a lot of internet forums, and this IS in fact one of the most tame/stable ones I've seen. Don't even ask me which ones are worse than here. A good portion of GameFAQs (the active forums, at least) is pretty bad, and the official World of Warcraft forums are PLAGUED TO DEATH by trolls/flame wars/spam and a lack of admins to keep it under control. I could name more sites that could use a leash (hint: one starts with a number), but you probably know which ones I'd name.
It's generally (but not always) human nature, this "mob mentality" thing, to do something just because everyone else is, but I'm sure no one here meant to aggravate you. Most members of SMW Central learn from their mistakes. We're all sorry.
But, DarthRiko, this day will pass, and things will get better. I have really bad days like this too, but eventually you'll forget all about it. I'm glad you're going to stay at SMW Central, and you're going to help polish it up. It'll never be perfect, but it will get better.
EDIT: If this is tl;dr, what I'm trying to say is: SMW Central is better off than most other forums, but not perfect. Someone should close this thread and bury it under a rock in Siberia before the sun rises. *Gives DarthRiko a flame shield anyways* I hope you feel better soon.

Yes. If you're close enough and get pulled in, the attack will take over half of your maximum hit points. Thankfully, it's easy to avoid. Also, the screen it takes you to for the duration of the attack isn't very pleasant to look at...
(EDIT for anyone who may mistake this: It's not a secret place. The attack just takes up a whole screen if you get pulled in, and it's special because few attacks take over half your HP. There's only one other I can think of but it's a combo from that ninja thing.)

@Alum
As far as I know, if you have custom music in a level, there is no way to end the star/P-music loop. I have two suggestions. Either put the star/P near the exit, or use a hex editor (e.g. Translhextion or Hexecute RC7) and set addresses 0000AD08 and 0000C786 to 00 so you don't get the star/P music. With the P switch, you still get the warning for when it's about to expire, but what this will do is not play the star/P music ever so you don't get the endless loop when it's inactive. I hope this helped.
(EDIT: I could be wrong, but I don't know of any code etc. that will end the star/P loops in levels with custom music. If there is, it's news to me.)
(EDIT 2: Delmaru is right, sorry. My mistake. The above still works out fine, too, if you don't want to insert custom blocks.)
