It's my first in this sort of area, though I am coming from a background of having made a bunch of stuff for Mario Maker. However I've been really enjoying just going into making stuff with Lunar Magic. So far everyone on the discord I've chatted with as well have been super helpful.
I'm onto working at the final level already though, but here's a few screenshots and even a small video of the first level! I'll put up more if I'm asked!
Here is the overworld! It's small and simple. I plan on having 8 levels to go through for the moment along with one bonus one. So 9 exits? I'm unsure if secret exits are counted as well and I want to work a bit longer to make those.
If people want a demo of the first few levels I am totally open to that as well!
The On/Off blocks shown in the first part do harm Mario when not turned off, the little white marks are meant to be a bit like spikes but I'm terrible with the 8x8 editor.
Also, more updates! I've decided that now is a good time to post up the hack rather than leaving it in a state of limbo, as I feel it's properly in a good state, so I'm now just waiting for moderation!
Here's some more previews, and an update to some of the looks! I got L/R scrolling patched out, along with the minimalistic status bar.
I wanted to insert a custom sprite, but when I loaded up the rom, all level's graphics had been set to GFX 0
What could have caused this and how can I fix this without fixing the graphics for every level in the game?
Just randomly stumbled across this, but your best bet might be to restore the rom using LM to an earlier version. Lunar Magic likes to make a ton of restoration points as well, so it's very likely you can change it to a point before all the GFX were messed up.
- 1-ups kill you. - Coins doesn't regenerate health. - Only 3 HP. - You start with 0 lives. - Stars don't exit you from levels. That also means that you can't get lives by collecting coins or anything and your coin score won't be saved. - You can leave a level while moving. - King Bob-Omb moves faster and is a bit stronger! - You don't have to breathe in water but you can't regenerate health in water! - You have the minimum amount of bombs to kill Bowser and, also, in the third battle, I've removed the falling platforms. - You have a speed meter. It could be useful for speedrunners.
Please read the guidelines on submissions and read the core values.
Specifically, this does not meet the core value and requirement of having levels made purely from scratch, simple edits and patches to the base game, does not make meaningful enough changes to consider being accepted.
There is also no reason to include Flips alongside the download of the patch.
This hack contains 9 main level stars and 2 extra stars. You will find 3 stars per level exept the special stages. Some stars are a little harder to get because e.g. one element has a difficult jump. Overall it is not a difficult hack. And if you may think a star is not possible to get, try again because I played it and I could get every star. You will need to go to the wincap stage before starting the bowser course because the wingcap is required to beat the level.
And also please remember that this is my very first hack when rating the game. And of course have fun!
After countless foiled attempts at kidnapping Peach, Bowser sets his sights on the Nuveta Kingdom, thousands of miles away! However, Mario won't let that get in the way. After being teleported to the Nuveta Kingdom, Mario is tasked with once again thwarting Bowser. Hopefully, he can do it soon, before it's too late!
This was quite enjoyable, up until the point where I tried to exit one of the courses and the game hardlocked on a black screen. As well as trying to load a save caused it to hardlock as a result as well. Please be sure to thoroughly test your things before submitting, otherwise this might've been fine.
The general design is quite pleasant and definitely of a bit of an easier difficulty to start off with. Please resubmit this as a version that isn't broken.
One Day at the Mushroom Kingdom Bowser had been thinking ideas on taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. And then he thought a idea of corrupting the whole kingdom. Now he gone on his computer and used an corrupter online and used on the whole kingdom. The only one who can put it to an end is Mario.
No roms are allowed. This also does not meet any of the guidelines.
From what I can find, it doesn't seem like that's possible without a good bit of cracking into ASM for sm64. You can find a few other results of people with ASM answers to similar questions if you wanna do it.
Even for an open hack, the star select screen can just help in giving direction to players that might get lost. It's something I'd say to work with alongside, rather than just try to get rid of.
From what I can find. A Painting warp can be applied to a 3d object within a level, using Quad64. Though I have limited knowledge on the workings on 64 hacks. I'm sure that this might be what you are looking for. If not, then I'm sorry. I'll try to investigate a bit more and get a more solid answer for you.
I guess now would be a good time to show off stuff in my newest kaizo hack that I've been working a good while on.
I've been working on this hack now for about 2 months, polishing, getting graphics for it and getting others to test it. Such as Thirdwall, Megascott, and a few seperate levels tested and given feedback on by Dode and other well known, experienced kaizo players.
Nearly all of the graphics for the levels are ripped by myself from various Sonic games, including Sonic Mania, Sonic 3, Sonic 2, and a few Sonic 1 tiles for reference. A few of the other graphics, such as for backgrounds are taken from the graphics directory which I am thankful for.
Our tool moderator friend DtotheFourth has also been working on a wonderful final boss for the game itself, which I hope to not spoil too much for those that are interested in seeing what he has been able to work on for me, which I am very thankful for. There has also been a special port of a certain popular Sonic boss track made by KKevin and Vaelstraza that will also be used.
I hope to have this available sometime soon, in the next few months at least for people to play and enjoy!
Thanks for reading.
That really sucks, don't let it demotivate you! The video of the overworld looked really nice. Give it another go and you might even start out with something even better than what you had before. And be sure to back it up next time!
