Throwing my support behind Dynamic Z.
I'm sure anoni has some good points about Dynamic Z's value for the average user, but for a second let's forget about the average user's experience with inserting/editing sprites.
Right now, there are eight (8) people who have created dynamic sprites. This is because creating dynamic sprites is an extremely daunting task without a tool like Dyzen.
To me, there's a clear parallel to the AddMusic revolution. In the early 2010s, only a handful of people were making sampled music ports, because the tools to make sampled ports were awful. Everyone just dealt with this and used unsampled music, and the regular user didn't complain, but every hack ended up a little less cool than it ought to have been.
The average user may not care how easy it is to make a dynamic sprite, but they do care that barely any dynamic sprites exist.
Anoni is not the only person making dynamic sprites with Dynamic Z. Codfish is too. If I had more time for hacking I know I would be.
In the discussion of advantages/disadvantages of a dynamic sprite remoderation, to me, advantage #1, by far, is Dynamic Z's compatibility with Dyzen, since it makes asm noobs suddenly capable of making dynamic sprites.
(To be fair, I do think there are disadvantages to a remoderation, including the effort required to convert the existing sprites, the lack of clarity in the current documentation, and the confusion of Dyzen being two separate programs for dynamic/non-dyanamic instead of being one program that handles both. Obviously it should mostly be on anoni to address these issues if a remoderation were to be considered.)
