Difficulty scale. 10 being so hard that it seems impossible without slowdown and knowing the level's design beforehand.

6-7: lesser known "hard" hacks / Kaizo's average difficulty
4-5: average difficulty for hacks

lol somewhat hard. That video was made using slow down and it took hundreds of save sates. The person playing is the creator too, so he knows what to do for everything and what to expect. To get a real grasp of its difficulty, watch the videos of him playing normally.

I've yet to see any video of those levels so I can't judge their difficulty. I'm not saying Moltov World is the hardest SMW hack ever, it's just the hardest that I've seen.
The pointer tool works but how do you change the background? Lunar Magic doesn't show one for those addresses. If you try to change it normally, it'll only change the palette for the set background in-game.
Brutal Mario is an easy game. So much so that people question it being called "Brutal." Out of 10 for difficulty, it'd be a 4 or 5.
Is there anyway to change the music that plays with the level ender sprite? I don't know ASM but I've looked through the file and there doesn't appear to be any configuration for the music.
I'm using castle intro block and it works except it keeps repeating the intro instead of going to the stage. This version says it doesn't require any additional blocks. I followed the instructions in the read me but the last sentence is cut off

Finally, you MUST set the level exit for screen 1 to be where mario.

I assume it means to be where Mario goes. (Or else how will it know what level to send him to?) but that doesn't work. It keeps repeating the intro infinitely. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing but I can't find it.
I know that and I tried both screens. Neither do anything.
No one else has experienced this problem? I've tried everything I can think of.
Reuploaded my hack since it was deleted with the rollback.

As I said in my previous post: I don't consider my hack Kaizo but it wasn't accepted by Central because it was too difficult and unfair. They said it was too Kaizoish. You could call it Kaizo Lite I guess.

Don't let the first stage fool you. That's just a warm up. The difficulty quickly picks up.

Kaizo means asshole in Japanese.

This hack was designed to be challenging without relying on Kaizo tricks like: Kaizo traps, pixel perfect jumps, invisible coin blocks making simple jumps difficult etc. It doesn't start that difficult but it quickly picks up and later on you will definitely be feeling it. No matter how difficult it becomes, I think it stays fair.

It's for the type of player that likes a challenge but doesn't want Kaizo hard.

Well.. last time I submitted mine, one of the rejection reasons was a section where you're forced to carry a key while spin jumping to advance. The person immediately stopped playing and told me not to design levels based around Super Mario World glitches.

I assume you're referring to the shot with the ball n chains. That's actually a secret level in the game that's way harder than the main levels.

I included a 3-up moon next to a secret message so you immediately get a treat. Also it doesn't respawn unless you reload the game so it lets you know if you've read that box or not. I'm not sure I'd say any of them are "easy" to get. The ones in plain sight are tricky to get. And the the other that aren't require exploring.

Theme? Extra challenges. It has a lot of special challenges that you rarely see in other hacks. The game was designed to give a good challenge to veteran Mario players. The type of player that can breeze through all of SMW's levels without coming close to dying. With that said, this game is not Kaizo. It'd say its difficulty falls in between the original and Kaizo. You could call it Kaizo Lite.

Thanks for the offer but I don't need any assistance with the overworld. The game is finished. You can download it and play it. This thread's purpose is so people can play it and give me feedback. Or if anyone has any questions about it, I can answer them.
