Tip: After editing your overworld, make sure to use an EMPTY save file, as save files with progress may load Mario's position based on previous versions of the overworld.

Whilst playing through the numerous entries in the second annual level design challenge, I was just wandering something- If we could take all these levels, merge them into one ultimate hack, we could call it something like 'Super Mario World All-stars' or 'SmwCentral's Super Mario World'!.I think it's a good idea. Who's with me on this one? I'm prepared to create an overworld for the whole game, so I think I can pretty much do this hack alone. The only flaws are that each one has a different theme, difficulty, and number of exits... However, this can be sorted out easily.

--------------------

I remember some while ago I checked the hacks waiting to be moderated page. I found this hack called 'Super Noob World' and the description was that 'it would bring out the noob in all of us' meaning it was defintely kaizo. It looked extrmely hard aswell from the screenshots...

Unfortuanetly, It's in the hack removal log. Most of the reasons for it being removed were because it's painfully kaizo-like hard. Just look at it here:

http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=thread&id=144&page=33

it's got floating munchers, a ton places to get stuck, overkill on enemies etc.etc. Hopefully just what you're looking for. I'll try to contact the author to see if I can get it back for this thread...

did I mention it has 88 exits?

--------------------

I was reading your description for your submitted hack (this hack), and you said this was your last hack. Does this mean your making no more master quests, or this is the last hack in the series? I'm confused and depressed :(.

--------------------

Check this hard hack out. It's called Super Awesome World:

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/420/

Although I wouldn't call this kaizo, It is very challenging. After the tutorial land, things get VERY hard. For Example, the first level after the tutorial world, you have to keep on bouncing a mushroom with note blocks to get it through a passage which is one one block thick and has muncher's on the top. You'll need to get the mushroom through the passage because there is turn blocks at the end which you need to spin jump on! I'm still stuck on this after fifty attempts...

I also found another hard rom hack, called Pit Of 100 Trials. It's full of rooms with enemies in 4 levels!:

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/368/

Enjoy!

--------------------

I've still got yet to play these hacks, they look interesting. Could someone make an SMB3 styled kaizo hack? That would be really cool.

--------------------

I noticed that poeple have got the 'Kaizo Hack Supporter' userbar. Where can I get this?

--------------------

I was just looking up smw hacks on youtube, and I lol'd at this guy called AzuraBlade49 attempting to play a kaizo-esque hack.

The link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyjIDhk2AIg

Is this hack kaizo enough or is it just too easy? Because some parts were easy some parts were hard in my opinion.

Regardless of the difficulty, he did not provide a download link, therefore we cannot play the hack.

I didn't say you could play it-just watch the video. I know this place is where you're supposed to upload the hacks, so I'll email Azura and ask him for it to upload here.Happy? :) Because I am.

I'm starting my own Kiazo styled hack known as 'Do-able Kaizo'(Beta name, may change). I've started work on it today and I should have it done by next week. The aim of this hack is to be a kaizo game but slightly easier than the other kaizo hacks out there. This is my first hack, so don't expect something mind-blowing. Just about 1 world of hard levels. If I find that I enjoy hacking, maybe I'll release some more stuff after 'Do-able Kaizo'...

What.... exactly, is the point of such a hack? An ugly gltichty hack that's not that hard? I don't get it.

I think you've misunderstood the point of my hack. Let me rephrase my hack's purpose:

It's basically a kaizo hack, except it's slightly easier. You don't have to use savestates for this game, but it's still hard. And i'm not sure about the ugly glitchiness either... I'm certainly not going to include that.

If you still don't get me, all I can say is that you'll see what it's like when you download it(hopefully, at least).

lilac...lilac...lilac...

Well, Isaw your video, and I can see your quite eager at making levels. Although the level I saw was slightly kaizo(all the flame blobs and everything) and slightly bland(no enemies and random objects in places, like doors and pipes), I can see that yopu have potential to be a good level designer. All you need to do is add a bit more vareity to your levels by adding some more enemies, power-ups etc. and maybe some fancy new ExGfx or whatever it is and some graphics. Then you're level will be better. :)
I thought that Mario Is Missing 2: Luigi's New Adventure would be featured, because of it being one with great level design and one of the first ever SMW hacks since the release of Lunar Magic. I think it's worthy enough to be nominated.

But Luigi's Adventure? I played through the third world and it's definetly kaizo. I don't know why it's featured... the levels before world three were fun though.

The master quests by Alex No are also worthy enough to be featured. They have excellent level design, and are really long with immense replay value.

Two other good hacks, which are vanilla, are the new mario world and the unworld. They both have great level design and both have a ton of secrets to find...

--------------------

I've recently been downloading a ton of hacks from this site (especially kaizo hacks in the kaizo hack submission thread) and after three weeks, I still can't decide which one to play first.

It's really annoying for me and for other noobs as well who have recently discovered the site(no offence, because I'm one of them!). there seems to be so many great hacks, that we are spoilt for choice. Do we take a close look at the awesomeness of Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, or do we play a thrilling hours worth of luigi's adventure? or maybe try a demo of a super mario odessey? Or even try out something with tons of ASM and ExGfx? I really can't decide.

I was just thinking that it would be helpful to me and noobs across the board if someone could reply with an order of hacks to play, starting with number 1 being the first hack to play. That would be really helpful!

I've got a ton of hacks on my Wii SD card which I play on my Wii(they run 100% emulation). Which one to play first, then second, then third, then so on so forth?

Until next time,

Mariomaster4000 :D

--------------------

I don't think it's been released yet. I checked his website, and there's head nor tails of a download or even the words 'Luigi's Adventure 2' anywhere on his site. To get to his site, type in 'confused mansion' into google and it will be the first one.

In the meantime, I suggest you enjoy his other rom hacks(listed below):

Luigi's Adventure
Luigi's Adventure 3
Luigi's Adventure 4
MarioX World SER
Mario X World Deluxe
and... Mario X World Bowser's StrikeBack.

I'm sorry, I tried everywhere but I can't seem to find the rom anywhere. But you can still enjoy his other great hacks!

--------------------

Finally, I have managed to come up with a one level demo of 'Do-Able Kaizo'!

Do-able Kaizo(1-Level Demo).ips

Please discuss what you think of my hack. Do you think it's kaizo enough or far too easy that you could do it with your eyes closed?!(I don't suggest trying it).

--------------------

it's been sorted now, so don't worry guys. When you've played it, please discuss it below and tell me if it's kaizo enough.

By the way, just completed Mario Is Missing 2:Luigi's New Adventure. It was easy-check out my review of it!

I also found another kaizo hack, which I found in the hack removal log- I HAVE played this one, and it is very hard. I downloaded it while it was in the hacks waiting to be moderated. Give it a try at this link:

Super Havoc World(Demo-54 Levels).ips

Here's the original description posted by the creator:

Hack Name: Super Havoc World Demo - 194.2 KB - 38 downloads.
Length: 54 levels
Author: TheProgramer - Submitted by: TheProgramer128
Description: The Rom Hack is pretty much finished. Every level is finished and polished and I have played through them all several times (believe me! I spent about a year creating this, I've played it threw a few times). It's still a demo because i'm open to making changes if I see people review it and they make a good sugestion. I am also aware that the event tiles for the overworld are not perfected and that the castles dont get destroyed, and the message boxes that display the image for the Switch Palace. These are all minor things that I will fix after I get a few reviews in.

The Rom Hack starts off with a completley redsigned overworld! The first world is more hard than fun but from the first castle foward it get's a TON more fun. Don't get frustrated and give up on the first World! There are a few times when you are not allowed to use save states (whenever you see a half-way point). If the player does use save states the level becomes less fun and/or challenging. The story line is unique and creative and it takes shape after the first castle. There is a bonus area (screen shot) that if you figure out how to get to will give you the ability to skip giant parts of the game, but you will lose story line doing so. Feel free to review, I welcome it and after I get back all the feed-back I will release the final versian (but like I said the few things to change are mostly minor graphical stuff). ENJOY!

My YouTube Account is TheProgramer64 and I walkthrough ever level of the hack showing you how to beat it just in case your stuck.

Thanks for all your contributions guys!

I was looking at the recent hacks on the homepage and I came across Mario X World Bowser's Strike Back(Although isn't is supposed to be Bowser Sreikes Back!?)..I tried the first level...AMAZING! I think i will try this one first, then the rest of the series, and at the same time play SMW2+3(which I have played before but I deleted the savestate because I am silly) because it's a demo, then TKO, again cos it's a demo, then TSRP and then TSRP2:ZC. I'm not sure about the rest after that: could I have more suggestions for the next 10 or so hacks please? I have already completed Mario Is Missing 2, the unworld, and Super Mario Infinity 1. There all amazing, especially the unworld- so many exits!

Well, not this anymore, at least not as much. :P

Admittedly, I haven't played that many hacks on the site, but I don't think Azure Chaotic has been mentioned yet. It's a very creative and original hack with an entirely new concept of hacking Super Mario World. Also, since you completed Super Mario Infinity, you should also play SMI2. :)

Hmm, I wonder, since there's so many hacks on this site, perhaps we could have a "starting page"-type thing where we explain some of the most popular hacks, what they're about, and what hacks to play first depending on what kind of game you're looking for? Just throwing an idea out there.

I think a new starting out page would be a great idea.

btw, I loved Super Mario Infinity(great level design) and I'll add Super Mario Infinity 2; The Cursed Gem into my list.

I didn't think the game would be that easy! either the game was too easy, or I'm just a great player.

You can remove this version, as it seems to easy. I will hopefully make a MUCH harder version and upload it, and you won't be so lucky next time!

and btw what do you mean forms 16x16? I'm confused... :\
