I just started learning about how to add music to SMW and so far I have not inserted a single song.

I always get "invalid" error like "Invalid channel number" or "invalid tempo"

I've tried with several highly rated song from the music section so my thinking is that I must be missing some step. I've been following this tutorial:

Any help would be appreciated.
Ya figured that out eventually. Completely missed the "Old tutorial" thing.

Thanks for the reply anyways.
I made my first polished port and want to post it to the music section, but first I need to make the spc for preview.
Found it.

Thank you very much kind sir.
I'm trying to use a custom crash sample.

I was following wakanna's tutorial, and it said that i don't need a loop point for percusion samples.

Yet when i tried to use it, AMK gave me this message:

(sample) was of an invalid length (the filesize - 2 should be a multiple of 9). Did you forget the loop header?
I'm trying to make a sample to fit a percussion-y sound from Metroid Prime 3's Rundas battle theme.

It's the syncopated distorted sounding hit in this little clip:

I can't seem to make anything that sounds like it. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm new to porting, and I'd thought i try porting some non game music since I can't really find many.

I'm porting a song called On Melanholy Hill by Gorillaz.

It's a nice chill grooving song i thought might be nice for credits or something.

This is what I have so far:

Looking for any feedback here. Also I'd like to know how to get rid of that tin "eeee" sound on the high note's reverb without losing the presence of the note.
Ok here's the smwcentral file link.
It might be a bad sign for my future as a porter that i didn't even figure what this post meant by pitch modulation until completing a two hour quest of googling and experimenting.

Anyways can't wait to see the submissions.
I'm making a slow waltz and it involves lots of notes held for 2-3 seconds. Problem is every(unsampled) instrument adsr/echo/vibrato I've tried doesn't really sound appealing. Its supposed to be a chill and that's not happening right now.
Welp that honestly went a lot better than I was expecting. New to porting so i just picked something simple that could be transcribed without a ton of fuss.

That said I am proud of the J/DnB bit at the end. It felt kinda flat (OK it was every flat) so i wanted to add some of my own touch. Didn't work out so great but i'm glad some people enjoyed it.

I'm also super surprised that some people put mine above 14th place. Thank you to those people.
Staircase whip was really cool idea, but probably something better off avoided for a time limited competition. props to you for trying something cool and different.
I decided to try my hand at making my own composition. I wantd to make a ghost house/ship theme.

This is my first pass at it:
