This is my first hack as you can clearly see. I am easily confused by many things. The hack im trying to make is a vapourwave/aesthetic themed hack of the base game but since im a noob its not much more than background and level design edits. id love to find out how to do a lot of things, such as adding stars to certain level backgrounds and all that. for the ghost house level, i wanted to screw around with the map16 bank to create a glitched look. i tried to copy sprites to the actual background but ended up copying them to the map16 bank and making it all messed up. the look it created was satisfying but when i went to the other levels they were all scrambled too. does anyone have a way to discard the changes or any download of the base map16 file?

If you’d like some examples of ports That would be fitting, forest interlude, aquatic ambiance and stickerbrush symphony from donkey Kong country, Grand bridge from yoshis safari (a slower version, like the mirror room theme from that one SM64 hack for the conspiracy iceberg meme) and dire dire docks from Mario 64.
The hacks that we accept are based on the version 1.0 US rom for SMW. While Lunar Magic has some support for both SMAS+W and the Japanese V 1.0 rom it is limited and you would not be able to patch a SMAS+W hack unto a SMW rom, normally anyway.
Yes you should port over to a SMW rom.
How would you go about porting level files from one ROM to another? ill try and port over my content as soon as I can. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I’ll try all of that. I got it ported over from a SMAS+SMW ROM to a SMW ROM last night. The level with the arches is the one on yoshis house, although they’re in the one in the first screenshot too.
I came up with a plotline and have some new screenshots.
Bowsers brother, Yukke Koopa, and his 4 children, Bibinba, Sylvan, Clawdia, and Kerog have taken been trying to take over the peaceful Neon Island for years. After hearing of the events at Vibe island during Super Princess Peach, Yukke kidnaps peach and tries to use her to finally rule over the Neon Island. He tries to steal the bountiful vibes, causing the passive creatures to become hostile and establishes castles all over the island. Mario must attempt to destroy these castles and restore Neon island to its former glory.
Okay, so I'm making a hack, and its in early development. I was wondering if I should make some custom sprites. I was considering replacing the Koopalings and browsers sprites with Yukke Koopa, Bibinba, Sylvan, Clawdia, and Kerog, the new antagonists of my romhack and bowsers brother and nephews. I was also thinking about making a custom star graphic to insert into map16 for some backgrounds. would this be a good idea at this stage?
Just like it says on the title. Trying to open the background editor crashes Paper Mario lunar magic. the level im trying to open has layer 3 enabled. Every time I click the of level 9 it crashes it. What is going on? how do I edit the background?

What is going on and how do I edit the background?
Secondly, I saw this, heard it is functional and was wondering if there is a way to enable it.
And finally, there’s two parts to the editor I’d like to open, any submaps and the map for yoshis house during the end credits. So far I’ve been unable to open subareas to edit them and have left them fairly vanilla. How does one open them? As for the end sequence, this is what yoshi’s house looks in my hack: is there any way to adjust the banners and such?
Hello. I'm making a very amateur romhack and wanted to possibly have some custom assets to surprise the player. I was thinking about UberASM patches to have walljumps and other cool features but I worry about it being too drastic. Sprites, blocks, and power-ups would be amazing though. I'm not sure how Id insert them and if I should and could do it. Would they be appropriate and easy enough to add?
Thanks. Is there any power up collections anywhere? I’d like to add some certain specific power ups from some rom hacks possibly. The bubble flower (from the machigian adventure and power journey, although I’d prefer if they’d act more like the ones from the blue baby yoshi in NSMBU where you can use them to jump off and they take longer to pop. I could’ve sworn one romhack had that.) or the ice flower would be cool.
Hello. I have some news on progress on the hack. My wonderful musician has sent me a demo of Dire Dire Docks that sounds amazing. I made a few adjustments on some levels. Looking at the whole thing seems daunting but I feel like I can do it. I’ve made a decision to take some inspiration from the beta. Some call it lazy but I think it’s cool.
Here’s some of the level layouts I might reuse. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about the classic piranha plants.
The layout for the full world map. It seems like it’ll be difficult to create one but if most do it I will too. Apparently the tileset is mostly the same as the final one so there’s that.

I'm not sure if I could get a Beta map16 for the overworld as IIRC they use a very different file format. but yeah, the plan is to downscale the first 2 into submaps. I`d understand why you'd prefer the first map lol. It's pretty much the vanilla overworld tiles. the 3 beta levels will also be edited. I might try and fool around with the layer 3 for the third one. I was thinking about using blarggs and ninjis as the enemies if ninjis work in the cave tileset. And who knows. I might end up bringing out THE KING BILL
