so i'm really new to smw hacking and this website is really helpful and i started making a hack. i watched tutorials and stuff it was going well but i decided to download a custom power ups pack (Custom Powerups v3.4.2 - Improvements galore part 1) in the resource and tool releases forum. though it worked it corrupted a bit of the game. whenever i collect any mushroom the game goes blank and brakes, the custom hammer bro and boomerang bro i imported were completely broken and all the custom music wasn't playing. if anybody knows why and how i could fix this and please tell me because i don't want to resort to removing the power ups, thank you.

Did you add the custom powerups after already starting working on the hack? As stated by the readme:

This needs to be applied to a CLEAN SMW (USA) ROM OR A ROM WITH Custom Powerups v3.4.0

If not, you'll need to insert them in a new rom, then port what you did so far to the new one.

ah thank you this seemed to work. Honestly I should have read everything so I didn't miss that.

Basically I wanted to import custom overworld graphics so I looked around in SMW Graphics and didn't find anything I really wanted. Anyway I came across YYCHR and used it to create my own. I made a little tree but the colours weren't correct. The yoshi island palette didn't have the brown or yellow I wanted. I didn't want to mess with the replacing the colours in case it corrupted my rom. Is there something I'm missing? I feel like there's a easy fix for this. Everything else imports fine though. Also don't ask why I need yellow for a tree.
just a random question, can you have multiple palettes in the same level? because I have custom graphics and a custom background and they both have different palettes so its either I can match the background colour or the foreground colour

Not really, but you can change which palette row the BG and/or FG uses in the Map16 editor.

Ahh ok thank you
thanks guys :)
I was just wondering where can I get all the koopalings? because in the custom sprites roy and ludwig are missing and the original ones in super mario world aren't the best. Do people just make their own or use a different site or something?
I'm confused on this topic, I always remember it being really easy but I think it changed a while ago. It comes up with invalid map and whenever I try to set what I want it changes it self. I've looked at other threads but they don't work. I think it's because it's outdated or I'm just doing something wrong. can someone help?

The process should be like this:
1) Be in Layer 1 editing mode #lm{ow16x1}
2) Select the first pipe tile.
3) Hit #lm{owexstar}. Nothing should visibly happen.
4) Select the second pipe tile.
5) Hit #lm{owexstar} again. A popup should appear this time.
6) In that popup, choose two different (ideally unused, i.e. "invalid map") settings. These are the indexes the two pipe tiles will be registered to.
7) Hit okay. The pipes should now be linked.

this worked, I didn't know it was that easy. thank you #smw{:TUP:}
