i added a music track fine and roms working but i do to add another and i get this error everytime...

Error: File "1DFC\2D Podoboo -100% pan.txt" not found.

and i cant seem to bypass this error what did i do wrong? or did i even do anything wrong? i never touched a file with that name im confused

Check if the 1DFC folder actually contains that file ("2D Podoboo -100% pan.txt"). Either way, you should probably download a fresh AddmusicK copy and port your stuff to that one.



Thanks for that after being impatient i just started from scratch the txt was there originally i think i some how broke it by adding a music track and added all the music i wanted right away on my new copy so all is good thanks for the reply though friend

now i load my rom up but its broke...

literally number and textures and blackness all over my screen

i want to add wall jumping to my hack but i could only find two different wall jumping patches the other one was called "wall kick" that one didnt crash my rom but it didnt work either

it auto adds .sfc at the end and is broken when i try loading rom i then tryed manually entering the info into asar without adding .sfc and this is what i got

You are definitely altering the file extension and not just the name, yes? It is a common error, so just verify that the extension had been changed. Unhide extensions if you have them hidden.

Check your ROM in a hex editor and see if it starts in a big bunch of 00s. If it does not, you will want to add a copier header to your ROM either using this tool or adding 512 (×200) bytes of 00 manually to the beginning of your ROM with a hex editor. Most tools and all patches here have the expectation that your ROM has this header and thus require that header for everything to alter the correct addresses.

If things do not work after adding the header, it is possible you have a bad dump: test with this. If your fresh copy reports bad, save yourself a headache and find a real (U) [!] copy.

i have hidden checked but not the exstention give me a few minutes see what i can do

on a side note i did some testing while i was waiting for replies i too that cleaner tool used it on my original rom i made the hacked file from and it said rom was cleaned and it let me patch the wall climbing into it dont know if that has any bearing on what were doing but going about renaming now

how does one make it so on death it fades out and the level will restart? im assuming its hex editing or is someone aware of a patch i can install

my hack is going to be ligh kaizo so the animation of dieing would just be a bad idea

The readme explicitly tells you to not patch them, but you can edit them freely. All you have to insert is the main file (retry.asm), as all the info will be stored in there.

Do you have a step by step of what you did just so we can spot the issue if what I said didn't solve it?

i never did that i didnt see that , so does that mean i can grab any level even if im not going to use it in my hack and with the separate midway settings turned on? kinda a noob xD im not sure how to do that?

Yeah just pick any level and click on #lm{1door} then hit the "Use separate midway settings" option and save the level. After patching retry you can also turn it off if you don't want it.

I'd suggest leaving that to $01 since the custom bar can be useful (unless you're using objectool), but it's your choice really.

sooooo i followed all these instructions and i still get black screen with fireball sound

but i went ahead and tried the level i saved with seperate midway setting and if i die in that level before midway i black screen but if i get checkpoint i will instantly respawn for that levels chec point any idea what i did wrong?

Is anyone familliar with this patch i already have my backup file with this patched on it but i was thinkin i should add spin jumps but couldnt figure out in the txt how to add it

If i put a patch on my rom but i want to change something on the txt can i just repatch the same txt with the modifications like will it overwrite the original and not break my rom?

not sure if i posted this correctly im new here i have seen some megaman x theme ports but i have no seen a megaman x opening stage yet
so i see on/off switches but im not seeing the actual titles that switch when i hit the on off am i just missing them somewheres or do i have to hack those in?

I second this im building my first rom hack took me a bit to figure out how to apply the patch properly if you look down a couple threads you will see me thread asking about death fades
