Hi, I was wanting to compose some music in MML. I used to write .nsf files using MML so I was excited to see a similar format used for SMW hacks. It seems like all the info I can find is about converting midi, though, which is fine, but not preferable compared to being able to hear what it sounds like on the hardware and make changes to the MML directly. Am I missing some obvious tool / tutorial or is this just not what people do?

Okay, I found everything I need. Just need to learn the .sfc syntax.
Hi, I submitted my first hack earlier in the day and I was just wondering if it's a different process than with music, where it shows up in waiting immediately or if there was possibly an issue with the submission process. Obviously, if there's a wait (like to verify the zip isn't malware or something), I don't want to resubmit, but if something went wrong in the submission process, I'd want to try it again.
Okay thanks!
1. Tommy: Grounded with a block, this is an interesting twist on spinning platforms. Freely spinning and moving, it's a whole other type of movement through the screen. As someone whose favorite aspect of SMW is pure platforming, I'm playing favorites according to my tastes here.
2. Jimmy: The movement and the stagger mechanic are both really interesting and fun. I'm not too sure about it eating baby yoshi or a key in a level but as a boss, it has a lot of potential.
3. Henry: I like that it breaks into regular grinders when pushed too far. Seems like it would be interesting for puzzles, which isn't so much my thing, but I think it definitely could have a place in the right hacks.
4. Batts: Okay, I think this is actually the cutest idea. Boo rings that function as regular boos. For some reason, they seem to have a problem going right? Good entry though. With a tweak to fix the movement issue and maybe different graphics to signify it's facing / chasing Mario or hiding their faces, it would be very useable.
Great entries all around!

While I ended up placing last, the existence of this event got me to make this port, and ranking so low got me working harder on it before posting it on the site (still working on it, but it's better). I'm super grateful for how this all turned out. It was a great learning experience.
Edit: Playtesting has been completed and the hack is posted.
Hi, I've been working for a bit on my new hack and I think it's ready for testing, something I failed to do last time. I'm not sure of the difficulty. Most of it I would say is high kaizo: beginner / low kaizo: intermediate, 11 exits, with one being a switch check and another being credits. The extra stage is pretty tough because of a new mechanic, but I generally play kaizo: intermediate and got through it okay (it does have a double shell jump with L/R presses required).
The bps patch is in my files here: https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=files&u=54987
And here are some screenshots:
