I'm not sure on why this happens, but it seems that Firefox stores images from websites I visit as BMP files in my Temp folder. Why does it do that and can I somehow disable that option? I don't want to waste hard drive space with images I don't need.
It's called cache. So that whenever you revisit a website with the images, the images won't have to be downloaded again.

To change the cache settings, go to "Tools". Then "Settings". From here you can go to "Advanced" to decide how big cache you want.
From settings you can also go to "Content" and decide if you want Firefox to automatically download images, or not.

That's all I know. (Also not that some names may vary, as I'm translating from Swedish.)

I recommend SRWare Iron over Google Chrome or Chromium. Simply becuase Chromium has built in tracking functions, and perhaps no future endorsement of proper adblocking, because Google is a huge advertising company.
They've already allowed 2 - 3 amazing ad blockers into their extensions database.
The thing is though that's it's pretty hard to block ads (in Chrome) without slowing the site down, so instead, those extensions mostly hide the ads instead. I think it's the same effect though.
I should be able to figure this one out myself. But I don't feel like breaking a few times before figuring out the address.

Anyways, I'd like to change the palette of the "course clear" and all from 8(?) to 4. And I don't really know what address and what part to change to edit the palette of those. (This is to save a few palettes for a Layer 3 background.)

I'd also like to change the page of the bonus star counter GFX. I've moved a whole lot of Layer 3 graphics from page 29 to page 28. And the only things left are "VWIOH'"*96" a "coin", a "X" and those numbers. They might be used elsewhere to, but I don't know anywhere else but the bonus counter at the end and the standard star counter. (VWIOH could probably be moved with the misc text editor though...)

I'd be thankful for any (proper) help.

And you're sure that's the right address? Have you done this before?

I going to test it anyways, though, I'm keeping a backup.

[EDIT] Oddly enough, that don't seem to help.

Please, don't just CTRL + F the ROM Map. That was the FIRST thing I did while trying to solve my problem. If you can't help me PROPERLY, don't try to help me at all.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? I'm trying to modify the Layer 3 properties for the Course Clear, and you guys just redirects me to the "ROM MAP" and the "HELPFUL DIAGRAMS"? Helpful diagrams contains no ROM addresses!

Seriously, guys. I'm not a COMPLETE idiot. I know what palette that Layer 3! I want to edit the ROM so that those layer 3 tiles uses another palette!

Dang it!

I'mma just going to let you post whatever until I get proper help. You're at lease bumping the thread.

Hi,

A few weeks ago, I posted a topic in here about a problem with the boss sequence text for my sixth castle (I discovered the problem by accident when playing the original level aka Wendy's Castle; I didn't actually finish my sixth castle yet as it's still in progress), anyway, I wanted to take things to a different level, does anyone have the addresses used for each boss sequence text, or at least the one for the sixth castle? I'm just hoping that finding that particular address will help me get closer to finding a solution for the problem, which happens to be some garbage in the text portion of the sixth boss sequence.

Thanks in advance.

I think that's what you're looking for is already in the overworld editor.
Just open it up. Go to "Overworld" and go down to the "Change Boss Sequence Levels".

I might not have understood your question right though.

Yes you are.

Anyway, Terra Stripe should be able to edit them.
As I am a complete idiot, then please tell me WHAT image I'm supposed to edit with TerraStripe? As I don't seem to find any now or back then when I started researching this problem.

[EDIT] I might go so far as calling myself a jerk. But when I ask a serious question in the "Advanced SMW Hacking", I hope to get proper help.
I fixed the course clear problem (changed it to "epic win!" actually), though, I'm still not able to fix the time and bonus star counter. I'll think a bit about how to fix that. And I'll probably have to continue that matter here.
BUMP and Update!

I fixed the end Bonus Counter palette, including the time counter. It was not that hard to fix actually. Especially when I've worked with Layer 3 palette changing before.

I might want to add these palette addresses to the ROM Map. I just don't know how to properly add them.

I also got a new question. And I should be able to figure this one out too.
Where's the palette byte for the message box text? Or does the message box text have a palette for every letter? (Like the Bonus Counter...)

I'll research those questions myself tonight. I'll come back if I figure it out myself.

[EDIT] It doesn't not use a palette for every letter. Which is pretty good.
Though, I still haven't found the palette byte. It shouldn't be to hard to find though.

Chrome is good in general, but they were too lazy to make their own rendering engine and stole WebKit.

Do YOU know how long it takes to make a rendering engine? Especially a good one.

And how can you steal something that's opensource?

I think it uses a stripe image to clear the parts of layer3 it uses and set the palette but I am not sure. Look at the message box related stripe in Terra Stripe, it's one of the normal loadable ones.
Sadly, the only related picture is the remove message box one. Which was using the wrong palette. Changing it's palette changed nothing while in-game.

I'll probably figure out the solution sooner or later. I'm going to keep researching, until I find the solution, or someone else does.
Meh. Changing the palette of the Message block will be useless. Whatever I do with it, it will still ruin the Layer 3 background.

But I still need to know how to properly submit ROM addresses. It would be fun to add these addresses, as someone might have use for them.

These are Muncher Seeds. When they hit the ground, they turn into munchers. Imagine this with custom Lakitu sprite.

Does it count as stacked munchers if the game stacks them itself?

Also, really nice sprite actually. Might get overused though. (May I suggest making it fall a tiny bit slower?)

Well, I don't really understand it... What does Start bit mean? Does "bit" mean one Hex. number, and does "byte" mean two?
I've never submitted something to the ROM map before. And the submitter doesn't really make sense for me..

I guess for thats if you have stuff like tile attributes that encode stuff in one byte, but every time I saw an address that did that the format was in the description for the byte. So I don't see what that's there for, but I never used it anyway.

And as for what bits are, well, it's like the old joke goes... there are 10 types of people in this world... those who understand binary and those who don't.

Also one hex digit is called a "nibble" :P
This place makes things so hard to do! #w{=P}

I'm going to submit these things pretty soon. I'm just going to figure out their proper addresses. I might actually make a patch that allows changing of "Course Clear" and "Bonus x". It's not that hard actually.

I should probably make a Hexadecimal joke...
Topeka's Post

Apparently, Google has decided to change name to their name to Topeka. Now you'll all have to stop saying that you've "Google'd" someone. 'cause nowadays you say that you "Topeka'ed" them.

It's an interesting name change. And I'd like to know how you feel about this.

I know this is an April Fools.

Nah. GoogleTopeka is a pretty serious company you know. They wouldn't be fooling around about these things.

High-light text to see secret.
IF FoSoYa have released this as an Aprils Fools, then all the bugs are probably easy fixes for a newer version. If he haven't released this as an Aprils Fools, then we might be in trouble.

Though, I have only encountered one bug, and that's the ground-pound patch making Mario always pound. Even if I changed the rom address and the RAM address. I decided to comment the whole patch out and apply it again to the rom, so now it's disabled and the hack works fine.

Though, I'll wait until tomorrow until I do some proper job on my hack.
