Here's the thing - If you open up creators allowing to make music changes for their level, you are opening up a can of worms that can extend to other things such as timer changes or other revisions that the authors intended but didnt implement before the contest deadline.

Music changes is considered to be revising a level, which is generally something you shouldn't have or do in a contest compilation as the intent is to have an all-in-one place to play contest levels submitted as-is before the deadline. The only contest that did replace music post-deadline was VLDC7 and that was limited to it's unique context in which users were told ahead of the deadline that levels that used original music were to be replaced with the remixes alongside music used in the levels that may have large insert sizes would be replaced.

The only revisions you should accept for the compilation are if you improperly inserted someones' level (e.g. level using wrong secondary exits, empty map16 tiles due to remapping for available space, missing ExGFX files), a level that has a really large insert-size that could be trimmed down (was the case with eXcavator's VLDC9 level, may he rest in peace), a bug that can crash the game, or if the music used in a level whose creator no longer has a ready mml file to give to the collab organizer for insertion (typical of entries that have self-composed music).

Anything else should be met with a resounding "no".

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

While I do appreciate adding Undine and Pix to the list, it was generally an example of my criticism of basically asking if you can extend it to all sprites officially hosted in the sprites section that use the "Boss" tag for our ASM people to choose to improve on. More options than whats on the prompt at the time of this post would benefit creativity.

BTW, good luck to the entrants.

Ive heard a lot of bad things about Mystic and I do hope the game can progress to what the current dev team believes in the best interest for the game.

I also concur on Crystal Clear being one of the best gen 2 romhacks of Pokemon, tho I have also taken interest in watching playthroughs of gen 3 and 4 romhacks of the difficulty mod kind (aka the kind Drayano does).

My question exactly, as id like to know that myself. Tho I wouldnt mind the ExGFX contest occupying that spot if it turns out 12 Days Before Christmas LDC doesnt pan out.

If OLDC is going to come back this year - Please rework the controversial rule regarding unintended behavior that was defined in the first OLDC for reasons explained below.

While I understand that the intention of that rule was both a continuation of the whole idea of making SMW-styled levels based off of the 10th 24hoSMW contest in 2017 in which Authenticity was a judging category, and as a reaction to glitches deliberately incorporated as a level gimmick such as tile 1F0 and the like seen in VLDC9 and VLDCX which is reasonable given the fact that such a rule was what defined the purpose of OLDC existing separately from VLDC.

Unfortunately it has created confusion for level designers regarding how to handle creative applications of sprites and obstacles outside of their original use-cases in SMW that while it wouldn't rise to what is seen in modern VLDC levels that was the intention to discourage, would still wonder if their level did break the unintended behavior rule which as a result, hurts creativity from designers that would have otherwise made more creative levels.

If the devs of SMW were allowed to experiment with ideas they have (which why wouldn't they after all) in their minds to make it possible, we should be allowed do the same instead of having a rule that frankly is also a misreading into what makes a SMW-styled level as it's evident on playing SMW the devs encourage experimentation and creativity of such ideas, which is why SMW remains among the greats.

The problem I had with BadLDC1 when I got wind of it and wanted to enter last year but ultimately didnt enter at all was that the Romhack Races people who hosted that contest didn't really define what they were specifically looking for - Is it low effort blatant edits (e.g. any given level 105 level), a level that is a flat stretch of land with nothing interesting or engaging, is it an level that has unfair setups and gimmicks (e.g. reverse controls?), or a level that is actually good but aesthetically presents itself as a bad level as the joke (e.g. various levels from YUMP, YUMP 2, Zeldara's Glitch City)?

There's different kinds of bad and specifically making a contest about it is something that makes it hard to judge what fits the parameters of such a contest.

Just FTR, I was tempted to request a more accurate SMB3 bowser (which i do have the .bin file and the asm files from brutal mario for that as a reference) but ill ultimately go with Goomba's Shoe from SMB3 as per the parameters of the rules.

Also will romi's spritetool compatibility can be an option per individual request (that is, if said person's request makes it into the slot)?

I have very little to show for this C3 because the things I desire to show off more aren't ready yet (wish they were, tho)

What I have instead are conversions of 2 open-source fonts from Open Game Art for SMW hacking use. All of the fonts that is seen in the download inherits the same Creative Commons licenses that the original formats of the fonts were made in. The only other modifications I made pertains to the width of letters M and W when the originals went well beyond 8x8 pixels wide.

I still think its better to have options on whether or not one would want to use SA-1 since I could think of a couple of reasons, one of which is that there are people who still own flashcarts that don't support SA-1 expansion chips but thats my opinion.

Always set up your control scheme before you start playing any game. Also its not cheating to change keybinds if the current one doesn't suit your way of playing the game and this isn't limited to Kaizo.

However, the cheating aspect comes into play when it comes to running scripts and macros that automates the way you play but that's not really the scope of this discussion since I don't think any SNES emulator has features that allow you to set key macros, correct me if im wrong.

Need it unsampled (as in, use primarily SMW's music samples), tho a light sample can work if unavoidable.

Invoking support rule on this because it is among of the songs I wanted to request months ago but didn't. This is a great piece that contrasts the intensity of the other vgms in that game.

Basically invoking support rule on this.

But yes, I do support this request bc it does have that sonic cd energy to it.
