First of all, hello @all.
I'm Yoshis_fan, "the new one"! :)
I have a problem with the Mid-Ring Editor. Here are my work steps:
-I open the MR-Editor
-I open "Yoshi's Island (U) (Hack).smc"
-I go to the level "3B" and click it
-I set: "L:3B X:30 Y:5E E:00" in the parameters
-I hit "Apply"
-I go to File > Save File
-Then I close the window of the MR-editor
-I play the level "02" (1-3: Chocolate Garden) in my Emulator, then use the Screenexit to 3B, jump through the MR with Yoshi and let him die. I let him continue from the MR, but the result is, that he ends somewhere in the level, where there's placed nothing and Yoshi falls into a pit. By the way: I've used the coordinates of the middle ring for the settings in the MR-editor!

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong??

A tutorial with example(s) would be VERY helpful to understand how to use the program. And the example(s) should not only be concerned with the most simplest MR edits.


Before I suggest some things, which could improve Eggvine, a big laud and thanks to the creators of Eggvine (and all the others, who made YI editing programs and nice hacks :), who made YI editing for mere mortals possible.
OK, finally some suggestions how to improve Eggvine:

-Add the possibility to select more than one object at the same time.
-Integrate the midring and the entrance editing programs in Eggvine (if that's possible)


I know, that is pretty much for my first post, but I hope there will be a few able persons, who read this and give me able answers.

Still doesn't work :(
with the following steps:
-Set Unknown 2 in both level (02 and 3B) to 0.
-Create a middle-ring at 30,5E in 3B
-Save, close windows and open MR-Editor
-Click 3B and set the values to "L 3B X 30 Y 5E and E 00
-Test it, same result :(

I need a concrete example to understand it.

You will see more, but the hack is very "young" (4th level's in work) and I'm not a "professional" hacker.


BTW: How can I turn off the 6th world? In the great hack of Golden Yoshi the game has only 5 worlds.

I can't find the graphics editor, which is suggested in the FAQ, and I wanna edit the level's symbols, so where am I supposed to find a graphics editor; can someone leave a working link, here, please?

It still does not work!
I think this program wants to bamboozle me!
Even, if I change the Entrance Type, nothing happens. When I change the value of the Unknown 2 the Middle Ring only takes me to another level :-(

I relocated Salvo The Slime to my 1-4 (Salvo's Ebony Castle), but I want only the mid-boss and not the final-boss music. Also I don't want that Yoshi unlocks the "door". Is there any way to do that for mere mortals or is it the best to let the x-8 bosses x-8 bosses and the x-4 bosses x-4 bosses?

I already did this. I removed 3 sprites on the screen; only 4 sprites are on it! It is the screen on top right. Also I've moved the door, before I did this it stood on the ground. Maybe I have too many doors? Three doors in two screens? Or too many screen exits?
It is a normal door, as you can see in the Eggvine screenshot.

I know a bit how to create sewer levels.
But I have a question: How can I make pipe slopes like in the screenshot of 3-8? And how can I make "sloped" sewer water?
Also in the sewer levels seem to be MANY useless and much too big tiles. I guess those objects are for the "special" things like slopes and ceiling and floor of stone-sewer. But why? Are they "unfound" objects in Eggvine or did Nintendo want this complicated method...
The only thing I can make is a diagonal down-left ceiling. Can anyone help me or will hackers only have bounded facility to create a sewer level?

I know that, but for some reason I like things, which are complicated to do and the sewer tileset is probably the most complicated tileset of YI.

I know, there is an object that has this name (it's on the right); the small "slopes" in the edges of ceiling and wall are created automatically...

It's nice to see, that YI hacking is getting easier and easier; even for unexperienced persons (like me; even if I know how to change the names)

The next best thing would be to improve Eggvine a lot with one small update: If you've selected an object and press + it is sent to the top, and if you press - it is sent to the bottom; a pity that Eggvine isn't developed anymore...

Maybe I can help you; but for this I need a screenshot of the level in Eggvine; I need to see the screens around it; maybe it's the same reason, for that a door didn't want to appear in my 1-4.


However, I have a problem, too!
I have set a 7B: Weird (Above-Ground Crosssection) in my level, 1x1 and a -1x1 one; I tried to save and got "Run-Time Error 6: Overflow!" When I opened the level again, there were MANY objects there I hadn't placed and the Bytes increased by 800!!! I deleted the objects I didn't want. But ever when I try to go to the level in the Emulator, it crashes; some objects look glitched and Yoshi make a SuperStomp and disappears.
