Tip: Bad things to do in the title demo: Enter a door or a pipe, activate a P-switch or a star, complete the level, hit a message block, or die. These will either glitch the music, or force the player into an endlessly looping title level until they reset the game.
Hello I've been trying to get custom ExGFX I made in YY-CHR working properly with Maxx's Custom Boss Sprite. Now in the asm file where it says graphics stuff. I have the sprite looking fine in the 8x8 editor, and I think I assigned all the tiles correctly, though this one part does not show up during play. The eyes of my sprite it seems cut off in the middle. Example: The ExGFX is on page 2, bottom right (maxx asm file) is using 2A0, 2A1, 2B0, 2B1. Now when I click on 2A1 in the 8x8 editor, I can see the eyes fine. Its as though its ignoring that 2A1 tile or not using all of it..or something. Hopefully someone can help me, I've been working on this all day. Thanks
Thank you, though Maxx's Sprite seems to already read from page 2. It's a strange problem, I could live with it I suppose it looks okay. Just a perfectionist, also I'm wondering how to make the sprite stay the same when going left to right. When its moving right it looks fine, when moving left it bounces off the wall, the sprite then mirrors How would I make the sprite not mirror itself? If anyone could help that would be great.
Hello everyone, I've been into smw hacking for aloooong time, dabbling here and there, understanding basic concepts of lunar magic. Recently I registered to SMWC, I can't even recall when I first found this site it was quite some time ago, remember when LM was just born seeing those screenshots, ah takes me back. Anyways I'm heavily into mario hacking now, sort of a breakthrough in understanding the whole process. I've been tackling the basic stuff, though I've always been one to leap for the more difficult and work my way down. So far so good. Everything seems to fall in to place...eventually haha. Love all aspects of creativity, this forum seems to be oozing with it, really great stuff. For a paragraph intro, hope to stay longer than it took to type this, you guys seem pretty cool, helping each other out, I'll do my best once I've settled in to help, as my questions have been attended to. Really really appreciate that, as I don't ask until I've tried myself for hours on end. Oh and I hate being a cheep cheep haha. Thats all folks!
Hello, I'm having a really frustrating problem that I can't seem to wrap my head around. The sound when boom boom drops the yellow question mark orb after you defeat him does not play. Does this have anything to do with addmusic taking away sound effects or anything? I've tried putting boom boom in an unmodified rom, and the sound plays just fine. Its a simple little sound, but its just really boggling my mind, I have no idea why its not playing, if anyone can help...thankkk you very very much!!!
The level with Boom Boom does not have custom music though I have tried custom music with him, and it just goes completely silent when you get to him instead of the boss music playing. Also I'm just using like..08 castle for the music, I've tried the other standard mario music too, which plays the boss music fine, everything but that little sound effect when the yellow orb drops. Also the difference between the unmodified rom and mine is, a great many things...I've used addmusic, sprite tool, carols ow sprite tool, various xkas patches I can't remember all of them, nothing related to sound, except the N-SPC patch. Other than that, I have made my own levels, used Exgfx, custom music, custom blocks, and sprites. I just made a little boss level for boom boom on a clean rom to check if the sound played on there, I figured perhaps the rom itself was messed up, but it played fine there. So somehow this SFX is not being played, or has been removed somehow. Its a perplexing problem, lol I always seem to run into the problems that have dead ends for answers, though I'm still trying. It's not that big a deal, you know, its just...it should play the sound effect its not.
Hello, I'm wondering, is there any way to have a block like the falling block from mario 3, where you stand on it and it changes color(red or something) and falls? Hello, I was thinking of making a level, like Yoshi's island intro level. Where you have your grassy nice looking Yoshi island with the FG, and then those layer 3 flowers in the front(the ones in the ExGFX section), with butterfly's on them. Is there anyway I can do this? Also I'm wondering how to make those YI bouncy arrows, that you jump real high with. I figured it might be a GFX replacement of the portable spring or something like that. If anyone could help on either of my questions or both that would be great. Appreciate it a lot. Thank you.
