Hey, Thank you very much WhiteYoshiEgg (by the way like your music/exgfx good stuff) seems I have my work cut out for me, I'm not familiar with stripe image yet. Though I'm looking into it, it seems it will take awhile before I'm ready to conquer that aspect of mario hacking. Maybe I could edit a yi exgfx grassland with some of those layer 3 flowers in it. Or just leave the layer 3 out alltogether. We'll see. I spend too much time on these little side ideas that I know are complex to pull off. So for the mean time its on the backburner I know now what I must do when the time comes. Thank you too Y for Yoshi lol great effort.
Hello, I'm trying to replace the noteblock GFX in one level, how would I do this so when you jump on the new noteblock it doesnt revert to the old noteblock. Exanimation comes to mind, though what I want to replace the noteblock with is not animated. It is just the bouncy arrow block from Yoshi's Island. If anyone could help I would appreciate it a lot thanks.
Right right, though I have the GFX13.bin edited already. The quickly displayed graphics for the noteblock are taken care of. What I need to replace then is the regular noteblock graphics, if I can do so without replacing them for every level that would be great. Is there a way to do that?
Okay, so exanimation is the trick to this. Thought so. Now I just have to figure out how to do exanimation for the 16x16 YI bouncy arrow. Thank you very much.
Edit: I'm having a problem with the exanimation. It appears how I want it to in game initially, but when you jump on the noteblock(now the yi bouncy arrow) it turns into the noteblock again. Is there anyway I can not have it revert to a noteblock...which it shouldn't anyways because I have the noteblock replaced with exanimation.
Hello, I'm wondering if theres a sprite or something to teleport you after the sprites on screen are killed. The thing is, I want to teleport to a certain level, and a certain screen number not the screen exit. Is there any way to do this? Thank you.
Hello, I'm having some trouble figuring out the teleport sprite. I want to teleport to a level after beating the sprites on the screen like a bonus room in mario 3. So specifically, go in a pipe, end up in the room with an enemy, beat the enemy, teleport back to the screen where the pipe was or someplace close by at least. Is there anyway with the teleport sprite I can teleport to a level and a specific screen as well, and if so, what do I change in the .asm or .cfg or the teleport sprite to tell it a screen number? Thanks very much
I'm using the Teleport Sprite in the Sprites section made by Shinnok...I mean there are other alternatives too, I could just put a pipe in the room lol, or perhaps a door to generate once the enemy is defeated...but I'd rather have a way to teleport to a specific screen if its possible anyways.
Gotta say, I've definitely noticed Midiguy plowing through the music section with all of these submissions from All Stars, It seemed it would never end. Glad you made a thread about this, I was going to PM you about this if not. This is really excellent work, especially because It has one of my favorite title themes from All Stars (the smb3 one). Since using add music is my preferred choice this eliminates the frustration of not being able to use the music patches plus being able to have other custom tracks just rocks. Everything really is beyond commendable, great work Midiguy, really impressive, can't rave enough about it haha.
Yes, but it was just a matter of collecting enough information that I felt it was even necessary to post. I still am in this sort of learning mode with mario hacking where I feel I haven't learned enough to begin discussing or helping others. Anything so far has just been a question when I cannot figure something out. Sort of want to learn all I can but I'm easing myself into posting more. There are a lot of great and talented people on this site I'm very impressed at the community as a whole, from the moment I signed up I knew I would be sticking around for a long time. Also I'm digging the Halloween themes, even made my first layout, changed my name and avatar. Slowly coming out of my koopa shell haha.
Really impressed with each progression of Bonni's Quest Ladida, especially now that your making custom BG's. The more creative and original your making this the better it's to be. Especially because your making some really cool artistic pieces here meaning not only is it original...its really good stuff. You also seem to have layer 3 down and use it quite well. Loving the OW border, you make this look easy haha. Great work keep it up, cant wait to play this.
I've known about the FOS for some time, and love the ties to superman if only in name alone. I seeped through someones post just cannot remember exactly who. It was pretty cool discovering a hidden section, sort of like solving a mystery, because I saw the FOS mentioned in various places, and the freshness of salad had me thinking FOS anyways, acronyms are fun. I just couldn't figure out how to get here exactly, but here I am, pretty cool place.
Yeah Soul2Limbo, excellent suggestion, combining those 2 beautiful backgrounds would lead to some amazing displacement on the eyes. Haha they belong together, to create a masterpiece of melding imagery. Also ChaoticFox your Grassland GFX look really nice, quite pleasing to the eye. Wish there was more Halloween related content around here, perhaps I could contribute something, I'm feeling the spooky spirit.
Well my name is Sam, and Samhain and Halloween go hand in hand, plus it inspired me to make a layout. I really like how everyone's in the spooky spirit, changing their names, holding bone hunts and such. Fall is my favorite time of the year, so this seems the perfect time to crack out of my splunkin shell.
Well something about the October air inspired me to rip the SMB1 8-Bit Bowser graphics, took a few hours but I needed the ripping practice anyways. Yeah also just saying sprite has many terminologies whether mythological, asm wise, or even the soda. In this case KingGoomba meant graphics, ExGFX, whichever you may call it. It's much easier to take a moment to comprehend the question at hand, than rattle off something that still leaves the question in the air. No disrespect Thunder, anyways I'm not sure there are any NES Bowser graphics already available, though If they pass submission they will be, I just submitted it, also I will put them on my site. Enjoy everyone, 8-Bit Bowser is back!
Yes the Bowser sprite included in spritetool uses SP3. If you are not sure how to insert ExGFX I recommend getting familiar with the functions of Lunar Magic. There are many tutorials in the documents section that could help.
Heres off the top of my head how to do it.
1. You need the Bowser graphics, in spritetool they are located in the tilemaps folder included.
2. In Lunar Magic open your rom, select the Blue Mushroom inbetween the red and yellow mushroom (highlighted it says quick ExGFX extract).
3. If this is your first time clicking the blue mushroom you may get a message, just click okay, it's not of importance.
4. Clicking the Blue mushroom will create a ExGFX folder where your ExGFX will be placed, rename the Bowser(sp3).bin (or whatever it is named) to ExGFXxx.bin (xx being a number 80 and above) and place it into your ExGFX folder.
5. Now click the yellow mushroom to insert the ExGFX files you have in your folder in this case its just the Bowser graphics.
6. Click the Red Mushroom on the top right next to the SMB3 Breakable brick and Noteblock, when highlighted it will read Super GFX Bypass dialog.
7. You will now want to select the ExGFX Bowser graphics in the drop down SP3 menu, just select the ExGFXxx file that you named in step 4.
8. Click ok, save your rom, test it out, you should be all set.
Also for the messed up colors, you will need to change the colors yourself in your palette editor for Bowser (change colors in Lunar Magic by Clicking on the Star). I'm not sure if sprite tool includes palette files for the sprites included. You could download the SMAS Bowser graphics in the ExGFX section which does have the palette file for the correct colors, I also just submitted a 8-bit Bowser ExGFX with palettes included, or change the colors yourself, if you find a palette file (.tpl or .pal) select file in LM then palettes then import palette file from file. You should be all set.
Hope this helps you. Sorry for the Length of the post, got a little carried away haha.
