In one of my vertical levels the background is messed up. I set the BG setting of the level entrance to 00 and vertical scroll to none, this removed the effect.
But my level contains a secondary exit, a pipe, and regardless of what BG setting I choose for that entrance the background is a mess. The weird thing is that this level contains 3 pipes, of which 2 mess up the background and the last does not. Changing the FG or BG setting doesn't make a difference (well, it does make a difference but only moves the mess a little and doesn't move it off-screen).

Can anybody help me in solving this or finding out what the problem is?

Thank you! I'll try the patch first, hope that'll solve the problem!

Quite nice! I'd recommend some more variation though, like placing offshore objects in the left top as well as some layer 1 sparkles on some cliffs. Try to mix objects so the overworld looks like a whole rather than a few sections.
Also, a tile at the left bottom is glitched.

Looks nice so far!

@Kuribo's Christmas Stocking: Thanks for solving this!

I'm looking for playtesters who are as insane as they are skilled, yet enjoy being tortured by their emulator.

My hack is hard, real hard. No I'm serious, don't assume you will beat any level in less than 20 minutes.

I'll need as many playtesters as possible. Only contact me if you're sure you can beat the levels, I don't like playtest reports reading: "yeah, the first level was a tad hard so I quit". I already know it's hard.

Playtesters:
-Finished through the hack: 0
-Quit after finishing through 80%-99%: 0
-Quit after finishing through 60%-79%: 2
-Quit after finishing through 40%-59%: 0
-Quit after finishing through 20%-39%: 0
-Quit after finishing through 5%-19%: 1
-Quit after finishing through 1%-4%: 2
-Quit without any noticeable progress: 8

-Still playing: 3

Well, first off I think that you should note I create Kaizo Hacks (well...Hacks...only one so far). But nevertheless I have a style :)

Graphics
Vanilla. The levels itself are hard enough as they are so edited graphics might be more confusing to the player. Also I like to show to the player that with just the basic elements extreme challenges can be built, and Vanilla suits that purpose.

Gameplay
Hard. Impossible to some.
I find it important that when people give up on my hack (yeah... I'm getting too used to that) and open up LM to look for the solution that you can find nothing new, no necessary invisible coin blocks or off-screen objects. Everything required should be in plain sight to keep it a tad fair. Within these boundaries I'm searching for the limits.
I try to create a new puzzle on every screen of the hack without turning the hack into a series of short puzzles. Confusing, isn't it?
Well basically I want new elements on every screen while not making levels similar to Bowser's Castle of Super Puzzle World 2.

Music
I have no experience with this nor added custom music to my hack yet. But the music I will use needs to be relaxing and more like background noise since the player doesn't really have time to listen to the music anyway. Also I don't want to drive people insane with annoying music in annoying levels. This can be any music really, I don't really have experience with custom music.

I will test and break any kaizo hack and test any normal hack containing at most 10 levels (of course you can also just send me a normal hack after which I will only test 10 of the levels). I'm sorry but I'm easily bored.

Okay...I'm kinda boasting that I'll break any kaizo hack. But I'm quite skilled and really experienced with Kaizo Hacks.

Send me a mail with the ips or PM me a link where I can download the IPS. If your hack is over 10 levels long don't forget to tell me which levels I should test.

There is, it's called "slowdown". Though some creators misinterpret this line occasionally...

I'm still looking for playtesters who are as insane as they are skilled, yet enjoy being tortured by their emulator. Sidenote: I expect playtesters to give feedback

This hack is a mission to destroy King Thwomp, the responsible for trap King Yoshi in Lava!

This hack have many tricks including Key Jumping, Shell Jumping and more.

Make sure that if you include key jumping the player cannot skip the entire level. Also I don't know how much experience you have with shell jumping but try to playtest frame perfect as there are always people capable of shelljumping just one tile higher :P

If you finish the level within 30 minutes I will break it and comment on it for you
:P
Note that tricky jumps can be anything from wide gaps to landing pixel-perfect in between chompers to key and shell jumps and even walljumps...
The intro screen looks quite nice but the overworld has a lot of straight lines. Try to add some variation to clifflines by adding useless outcrops, making indents or a platform or beach below ground level. Also try using different tiles for ground, the green one is standard but the OW improves a lot if you just add a speck of dirt in some random places.

It's the creativity that makes something good, it's the detail and randomness that makes its awesome.

I will test any hack but my specialty lies with Kaizo Hacks. I mainly look at originality and creativity. I also do bug testing and level breaking (almost all levels in kaizo hacks can be broken!)

Ok, I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug, but I'm stuck in Haunted Path. I can't seem to dodge this Fishing Boo - I can make it miss me once, but it always gets me on the turnaround. I've looked for videos or tricks on how to do this but I've found none. What's even worse is that this isn't even halfway through the level >.> I'll skip this segment for now, but any help would be appreciated.

There is a very easy trick to beat fishing boo's, I'll send it to you in a message so I won't spoil the fun for the rest of the people out there :P

Level B can be broken or is very easy, you can keep lots of P-switches to skip entire parts of the level (such as level 4D). In the end it doesn't really matter much since you use a keyhole as level exit.
What you should note is that you can easily get yourself a fireflower and a mushroom in this level so unless you avoided this (counterbreak-patch?) this might break all the levels...

Still the level is quite easy to break.

Also there is something weird in this hack (it has already been mentioned). It's too easy, except for some explicit areas that are near impossible. I don't really know how to fix this, perhaps splitting the overworld in areas sorted by difficulty? (include level exit tiles and such).

I haven't done most of the hack yet so I'm not sure whether it's just the first few levels but the hack seems to be too random in difficulty.

After beating Chaos Theory a level tile appeared with no destination level, 2 tiles above Chaos Theory (level 4).

Yes, you should. I don't know how much time you put in those 5 exits but there's bound to be some errors in there. Also you might learn some things from errors found and use that in new levels.

The 'before' is not necessary as long as you press f9 while having the map16 editor open at some point before you play the hack.
