(I'm not sure whether it should go in the Bug Reports thread)

I'm getting "Connection refused" every time I try to connect to the IRC network. I managed to connect yesterday just fine. Tried other ports/IRC clients, but no dice. Does anyone know what's up?

OK, it seems I can connect to the IRC network again. This topic may now be locked.

Thanks for commenting, JackTheSpades~

As for why only the first image has a public Dropbox link, it's simply because it's in the Public folder and the smartphone ones are in the Camera Uploads folder, which is not in the Public folder.

Pretty nice ports you have there. Your U.N. Owen was her port sounds a fair bit better than the other one made by (presumably) some Japanese person (which breaks on accurate emulators).

That Ultimate Bowser Battle port, though. Holy crap, I did not expect that.

I have to say, you've improved a lot since the last time I've played one of your hacks.

The demo was quite enjoyable to play through. The levels were pleasant to look at and I never noticed any graphical glitches. The Koopas transforming into fake Marios in "La Grotte Verte" was a nice surprise. You also warn the player beforehand, which I consider very good practice, especially since this is the first world.

However, there are still some fairly minor issues. For instance, the tutorial in "Green Island" could've been incorporated into a longer level (like "La Grotte Verte", where the double jump is put into use). The enemies coming out of nowhere near the end "La Plaine aux Koopas", even if the areas were marked by coins is a pretty bad idea. If anything, mark such areas by arrows. The boss of "Chateau 1" (a golden Thwimp) can be beaten very, very easily by just spinjumping, which is weird, since Thwimps are normally "immune" to spinjumps.

Now for some nitpicks: Your French, while still "readable", was plagued by spelling and punctuation mistakes. The word "monde", for instance, was misspelled as "momde" in the title screen. At the end of "L'Aventure commence", when I enter a pipe, I expect to come out of one, not just appear like that.

All in all, despite the minor issues, this demo is pretty good. Its difficulty seemed easy to me, though it's perhaps a good start to a normal hack. I am gladly accpeting this demo.

+2

Generally, after I went through the strengths and weaknesses of a hack, I write down some nitpicks that I have in my reviews. However, considering all this happened, I'm not really sure if that's a good idea anymore.

I guess it's completely open to the artist's interpretation of the image (I honestly don't know either).

The first PM I got was from Vandarx welcoming me to the site about 1,5 hours after I joined the site. Naturally, the first PM I sent was me thanking him for that.

I noticed that around the time the Prismrivers show up, the audio starts desyncing with the video, and as a result the song ends roughly a second before the video does. For what it's worth, though, the audio seems to be playing at the intended speed. (for the record, it happens on both higan v094 balanced and Snes9X 1.53)

By the way, something like this has been done before (though the audio is agruably worse there, due to a noticeable decrease in pitch and also playing slower than the video (which reminds me of most earlier PAL NES games, ugh), plus, it causes Snes9X to lock up)

Despite the desync issue, this is still some great work.

T'inquiète, tu n'as pas interrompu la discussion précédente, vu que le dernier message avant le tien était en juin (donc 2 mois d'écart).

Sur ce, bienvenue, luigi1995.

Well, colour me surprised.

I'm also a bit surprised only 4 (including me) got the last one right. I thought Touhou was more popular around here, but I guess not.

Anyway, this was a pretty fun contest.

You're free to go with any thematic if you choose to go with this theme. Have these two images [1] [2] to show an example of silhouette levels. The player doesn't necessarily needs to be a silhouette too, but it'd be a great touch.
To be brutally honest, if Mario/the player isn't a silhouette in the level, then it may as well not be a silhouette level in the first place. I personally feel it ruins the feel of the level if Mario/the player isn't a silhouette when everything else is.

0.5 points are missing from my total score, though the final ranks are correct.

Anyway, this was a fun contest.

Fun facts:
1) I guessed 67 by actually googling what I heard in the lyrics (since I have a good grasp of French).

2) I guessed 106 thanks to a PS1 demo disc (and was the only one to guess it, hooray!).

There were probably some I should've gotten, but oh well.
