The name itself is very mysterious in a way, and that's one of the things that lure players into playing your game, unlike names such as 'The Adventure of A Fat Plumber That's Trying to Save A Princess From A Weird Turtle-Dragon Thing". Title Screen
The title screen is decent. It's not the best, but it's also certainly not the worst. The only things that I'd have to complain about are that Mario's sealed inside a cement brick box, and that there's a random M in the north-western corner. If you want to get people to really like your title screen then you can do any of the following...
A) Move Mario upward until he's offscreen. (Five tiles upward in the Top Screen Boundry. To find the Vertical Screen Boundries you have to press F2 on your computer while in Level Editing Mode.)
B) Edit C7 until it's to your liking and then edit the title screen movie. (Info on how to edit the title screen movie is in the F.A.Q)
Or you can just leave it the way it is (besides the random M), but that's not going to attract a lot of attention to your title screen. First Screenshot
First off, get an actual 'non-one-color BG (background) for that level, the BG looks hidious the way it is now.
What in the world happened to the outline for the pipes? It looks like you were trying to make them square, yet all you did was increase the outline to a point where it looks plain odd. Second Screenshot
The only thing bad about this screenshot that others haven't mentioned is the Boo-Stream, which honestly in my opinion doesn't look that bad. All you have to do to fix that is to go to the Palette Editor window and click the thing that says 'Sprite Palette' and then scroll down until you get the palette that makes the Boo-Stream look the best.
If you do try these ideas then I'm sure it'll help you. Thus helping your hack become more interesting as well.
Well, umm...good luck. ;)
(Remember, this is constructive critism, I'm trying to help you improve so your hack can succeed, I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. If this post did/does hurt your feelings I'm sorry, but I'm trying to help.)
EDIT: POST 900!!!
The M was accidental: It's fixed.
There is a reason why Mario is stuck in the cement blocks, but by the time it takes to explain it the hack might as well be done, so I'm just going to do what you say to save time. (Speaking of: I'm not really making this very long, about 2 worlds)
Screenshot 1: I added a couple of clouds and a hill. The outline was due to the palette.
SNN, that's really good for a first set of graphics. My first set of graphics is actually in progress... Though I haven't touched them for a few weeks. :|
Also, you may be familiar with the team hack Legend of Element Island. Well, I made a level for it.
