Well... i haven't seen anything similar in the guides and in the forums, when i reach the goal, or went through a pipe, etc. the scene went to black and it stays there...

My level is in the adress 6, and i used the display message sprite (with the asm hack)

Any ideas?

So, here is my first serious hack attempt.

It started like a vanilla hack, but now it has some Exgfx, asm, block and sprites, it currently is almost done, with three worlds, two switch palaces and a few special stages.

The story is pretty dumb, Mario went to an island to search the Golder feather (maybe just a pretext for not including feathers in all the game).

So well, here are the videos of the first levels of my hack.

Yeah, when i submit here, i will translate all the messages so you can fully enjoy the irrelevant dialog boxes :P

My native language is spanish, but i also can speak (a bit) in english, so i will take care of the translation.

Now i'm going to fix that issues, i'm currently checking all the game structure to fix irregularities, so if you see anything wrong, please say it here.

Check out this new level, Bosque Infernal, is going to be a "forest" fullfilled with lava and hard enemies, like fire-chasers (don't nowe the exact name) bomb-ombs and other stuff, and then it throws you to a "hot" cave with some kinda of puzzle where you have to replay it many times to get what to do, with the help of pipes that return you to the entrance of the area.

I'm making a new hack, (my second try to make a succesful hack, first got rejected) is going to be Lost levels was to SMB, a little bit "arcade-ish", no story, simple OW, more difficult than the original SMW but not being unfair.

I plan to make like 8 worlds consisted of 4 tematic levels (1 castle per world), making a total of 32 (already done = 7 12).

Dangus: i have fixed the BG of the level 2-3 making it darker, i'm just too lazy to make another video just for that (here you can see it).

I don't feel good creating a story, because i suck on writing in english, and i don't think people care about a story in a hack, if i would make a story, it would be only a pretext for the hack (eg: mario crashed into a island, go and explore).

Also when the levels are done, i'm planing to improve the OW, but i want something very basic, with short, straight paths, like NSMB.

Livin4Jesus: If you like to help, I would need help with maybe some bosses, i'm new to ASM and i want that the hack to have original content, or maybe if you want you can do a level (with vanilla feel, like the videos).

I played the demo and it's simply amazing, i love the palletes all the little cool details (i love how mario stomps when he enters to the cave) and the grafics.

Looks good, maybe too plain to me.

Add more pictures, aside the bonus room/Toad house, the level pictures looks just too simple for a real feedback.

Sprites: sliding shelless koopa, blue koopa + shell and bullet bill, they are just over OVER used and it's a pretty lame way to design levels

EXGFX: SMW Redrawn - just looks weird.

SMW Yeah, has good ASM gimmicks, maybe less impresive than brutal mario ones but they are used in a clever way with consistent vanilla feeling, level design.

Level 1: Looks too "105-ish", maybe if you change the palettes, and the bg it will be fine.

Level 2: Darken the water so it looks like a BG, and you can add some clouds and lighten the sky color.

Red palace: Just meh, you can add some spice to it.
