im just adding this to SportsFan's post.

The file in the Zipped Folder must be a IPS, if you have a rom in there then the Mods will give you a ban for i think it was 72 hours or something like that

i think its a little late to be telling him that.

@Fourpify lol

Ahh this game.. I played it through a few years ago, but never actually finished, I believe I was stuck at the X-Naut fortress >_<. Anyway, I really loved this game, but around last year, I made the HUGE mistake of trading it in to GameStop. So, I decided to bid for it on Ebay....

WARNING! SEPARATE STORY STARTS HERE
Oh boy. this was good.. terrifying fun. the minimum price I could bid was $14.51 and there was around 22 minutes left. I put in $14.51 and Ebay decided it wanted to scare hte living crap out of me and decided to put my bet as $1451.00.. I FREAKED OUT (inside, not literally). All the thoughts how bad it would be telling my parents that I owed $1451.00 for a video game. My life as it was would be over. Fortunately, Ebay had fixed it's mistake after the time of the bid ran out and changed my bet back to $14.51.. I was relieved beyond belief.
SEPARATE STORY ENDS HERE

So.. The game should be coming tomorrow (If it doesn't I'm gonna have to yell at the person I bought it from }B)). I seriously can't wait to play this game again. All the wonderful nostalgia, plus I happened to LOVE the humorous plotline and the amazing game itself. Side note, I absolutely love the music in Rogueport, it may not be as epic or exciting as some of the favorite boss battle themes but damn is it good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKFwm2NSJdc. Well, that's about all I can say until I actually start playing the game again, and I apologize my thoughts were so scattered here as I didn't really take the time to edit this, and I wrote this as I was thinking about it.

heh fun game, you will only hate a couple moments of it both being boss's with rather high stats, but youl find out for yourself >:] and lol for the extra story, now what if it didnt fix the mistake? >:] hahahahaha im evil :P
twilight princess and left handed link... all hail lefties :D (im a lefty :P) anyways good choice sticking with the wii version.
i suck at touhou games, i can never beat it without continuing so ive never played an extra stage besides the one in perfect cherryblossom that was allready open when i got it.
whos oscar? lol

You don't play the IPS files, you play the ROM. Here read this, it will help you.

thats what i was thinking, i was wondering if he was refering to the rom itself or the actualy file
how do you make the music in the boss rooms change? i tried changing iggy's music but nothing.
uh im no expert when it comes to hex editing but what am i supposed to do? and if push comes to shove, i may have to replace the normal boss music TT_TT
dude, just right click the patch and click send to and then click compressed folder. easy as that :D

*edit @fourpify: you sure like to help people :D
ok, ill give it a try when i have more time, and for future reference, i have just about every tool in the tools section incase i want a new approach
yea, only about 33 mb when combined with a full set of files for reference and patches, and some fg and bg, still learning to use them though, also it has all my midis with it.

...then call it the "What not to Do hack"

It's called Chaos CompleXX

But anyways, nice tutorial. It's a nice list of things to do, and hopefully people will stop thinking they are "funny" and such.

how did that ever get approved? O_O
1. use more.asm, its the new and non outdated version patch with xkas and remember to keep the .bin file with it.
2.in the patches section for more.asm and tools section for xkas
3. it allows for some songs that would require the n-spc patch to play when added with addmusic
heres an easy way to insert it, download this xkas
http://www.smwcentral.net/download.php?id=40&type=tools
and place the more.asm patch and more.bin file in it with the rom, rename the rom and more.asm so they read test.smc and test.asm then just click the batch file as and it will insert it, this method works for non sprite and non block asm patches though but the bin file just lets it get patched into the rom? thats what i think anyway
you may wanna do the obvious and expand the rom first
i like perls because theres a very easy method for it, but some songs have looping problems provided its not easily fixed,
romis can add 127 level tracks while carols can insert 223 which you generally shouldnt need, i use romis because i have no clue how to use carols, aside from that non branded addmusic, carools is the only 1 i dont know how to use.
i know im no good at porting, but you should leave a link to the code so people can look at whats wrong
ips patches are ok if your going to use it as a base insert, but just stick to xkas,
this is just like that tileset problem i have, maybe you need to start over the level? you could also try another layer 2 setting.
